Rum Tum and Scrapper cat

They are at least getting used to each other enough to tolerate being relatively close:

I'm getting tired of the snow

But at least is isn't sticking around. We primed about 150 M1 Garand cases last night, hubby will be rolling them up for me today so I will have a few to shoot this weekend. Also this weekend we've been invited to attend the meeting for the new cowboy action group forming in the area, so I can get back into that. They shoot out at the local range, so it will be nicer to have a match closer to home (tho the matches down past Lewiston are fun, getting up so early to drive down makes for a very tiring day, so having options now is GREAT!). So we'll pop down to Lewiston on Sat for the meeting and if the weather holds drive back up to the range or wait til Sunday (visualizing seriously nice weather for the whole weekend!). Speaking of shooting and all, I had a query on a previous post about info for the local range . I've put a link to the Lewiston Pistol Club where anyone local to Moscow/Pullman/Lewiston/Clarkston can get info on access to shooting ranges (there is an indo

Now, AIN'T that the truth!

I want a two day work week and a 5 day weekend!

Had a nice relaxing weekend, but still way too short. We finally got the range thing worked out and have a key to the shooting range so I can now go out and practice. We went out yesterday morning to watch the steel match and get our range membership and the key. We were going to do some shooting after the match, but hubby's back started bothering him, so we came back into town to get some lunch and then go back out. Well, we hit the Chinese buffett for lunch and then planned on hitting Howard Hughs and Sears to look at refrigerators before going back out to the range, but got very tired. So we decided to go home, take a nap and then go out. Had a very nice nap, but when we got up, it was raining. I'm not taking my nice new shotgun out in the rain. Hubby looked at the overhead and saw more was coming our way so we decided to wait until next weekend. I popped out a few minutes later to find it snowing, big white fluffy flakes. ICK! So we stayed home, watched the race and made yu

It's Friday and we have no plans for the weekend

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Time to kick back and relax (maybe work on getting the deck straighten up and finally get the christmas tree to the recyclers to get turned into chips). Scored a kitty cat water fountain the other day on Freecycle, currently have dibs in on a gas grill (fingers crossed!). Nicky was totally fascinated by the fountain, so hopefully he'll stop jumping up on the sink while I try and do dishes. Scrapper is coming along nicely. Had to dive to keep him from getting out the door this morning. Ended up locking him in the bathroom so we could get out of the house. Hubby wasn't going to be gone long so Scrapper wouldn't have to stay locked up for too long. The vet loaned hubby another carrier to bring Scrapper home, a regular one. So that got dropped back at the vets this morning and hubby will take the live trap back to the Humane Society and get our deposit back this afternoon. Managed to set up the coffee maker last night and forgot to put the carafe in,

Would whoever it was who ordered the snow

KINDLY KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want anymore snow, I want more weather like we had this last Saturday, warm and sunny. On a positive note, Scrapper came thru his snipping with flying colors and is now at home trying to figure out how to get out of the house.

It's done

The Scrapper kitty is at the vet's as we speak awaiting the big snip. I borrowed a live trap from the Humane Society to take him in as the vets may have to sedate him thru the cage if he freaks. He will get the big snip, a post surgical pain shot and a rabies shot. Hubby can pick him up after 3:30 pm today and we'll see about keeping him in for a few days to heal up. He was amazingly calm, at least until we got him to the vets. I'd put a thick towel in the cage and then sprinkled on some cat nip. Hubby held the cage open and I popped Scrapper in, no problems. The cat nip helped. For travel I threw another towel over the cage. I figured as soon as the car started he'd go nuts (my kitties do). Nope, he was nice and quiet and a good boy. He did look like he was starting to stress after we were at the vets a few minutes, then again it was a strange place with lots of strange smells and we were leaving him. I'm not feeling as guilty as I normally would, then again Scrapp

It's TUESDAY dadnabit! NOT Monday!!!!!!!

Today is trying to be a Monday and I'm not happy. Hubby had tummy trouble all night, keeping him awake, which meant I was awake half the night. He wasn't up for driving me to work, so I scrapped up some cash to get a one day parking permit and drove myself to work. Luckily I did find the umbrella as it started raining halfway to my building from the parking lot, tho the wind turned it inside out. So go to work and discovered I didn't bring my work keys, so I have to check a set out. Since I am popping home at lunch, I didn't bring my backpack and my work keys are in it. The good news this week is Scrapper gets edited on Thursday. I have to see about borrowing a have a heart trap from the Humane Society to take him him as since he is semi-feral, we aren't sure how he is going to react and the vet needs to be able to give him his anesthethia thru the bars. Everyone I know has the regular kitty cat carry case and that won't work. Weekend was very nice. Saturday I o

3 day weekend!

And today is Friday!!!!!! Just a few plans for the weekend, I hope to get some time out in the yard/garden to do a little cleanup and finish the cold frame. With luck I can get some more seeds planted. We're doing lunch with friends tomorrow and Sunday we want to drive up to St Maries for a gun show. It will make for a nice day out and if we take the laptop may get in a bit of geocaching and some photos/vid. The laptop will let me download the vid from my digicam as it only holds 30 minutes of recording and I KNOW I'll be taking more then that hehehehehehehe. Monday a friend will be coming over with a new game he got, and I am completely blanking on the name of the game (okay, tracked him down, the game is called Runebound). It is a board game similar to Talisman (which I haven't played in years) and looks like it will be a lot of fun. I'll lay in munchies and we'll look at pizza and have a game day. Sunday is Daytona and there is more gloom hanging over the race af

A Friday giggle

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about. For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married," she said, "my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll." The little o

In the news:

While perusing the news today: Peanut butter salmonella reported in Spokane This is why I am so glad I am making my own peanut butter from scratch, I have more control over the ingredients and the process. Waltrip sorry: Embarrassed driver apologizes for cheating scandal Micheal.......... sigh! And this on top of 4 crew chiefs getting nailed earlier this week. Creationists defeated in Kansas school vote on science teaching YAY!!!!!!!!!! Bob Lang Pelosi political cartoon I'm torn between being insulted as I am a Witch and falling down laughing as I think the whole hooha over her plane request is just ridiculus.

Kitty cat Wednesday (and my new shotgun)

OH WOW!!!!!!

I won a shotgun! I never win anything (okay, I won a pair of thermal underwear from TriState, I've vever won anything NICE before). A couple weeks ago we went to the local gun show. The Ducks Unlimited people had a table and a raffle. We like ducks (steamed and then fried in a rocket hot cast iron skillet is my fav hehehehehe), so we figured we get a ticket each. Figure that would be $10 well spent towards maintaining the wild duck population. They were raffling off a custom Remington 11-87 Premier 20 ga. We left, thinking nothing more of it. I was sitting on the couch last night when hubby turned to me and asked "What are you going to do with your shotgun?" Me "Huh? It's in the bedroom, what do you mean?" Him "I'm talking about the one you won". Me "Won? HUH?!?!?!?!" Funnier then heck hehehehehehe. Seems he got home yesterday and there was a message on the machine, he called, double checked and sure enough, I won the shotgun. He wasn

At a loss for a clever title

Oh well, that's Monday for ya. Weekend was way to short, as usual. Saturday I puttered about and got quite a bit of the house done by FLYing here and there. Do a bit in the kitchen, then to the bedroom, back to the living room and so on. Got the bedding washed and we can walk around the bedroom without tripping over too much. Finally got the prints hung up over the bed, one is Bastet leading her children into Egypt, the other is a winged cat hatching from an egg and the third is another Egyptian inspired on with a golden cat and a couple cat statues. Dinner Sat night was some leftover chicken nuggets I made with coconut breading and baked. Came out okay and reheated it wasn't bad. I made noodle stuff to go with it. Spent a good part of the afternoon and evening reading. So nice, just curled up on the couch with a book and a cup of tea (speaking of tea, have to pick up some more de-caf and herbal tea, we're out) and listening to Sirius Best of Broadway. Yesterday was going t

Just can't leave it alone

I just gotta play with the colors and layouts of my blogs LOL FRIDAY!!!!!!! And payday to boot. Pity it is all going to bills. Raining today, so much nicer then yesterday when it was very foggy and started snowing. Luckily the snow melted off. I am so ready for spring it isn't funny. Discovered that whole milk ricotta cheese beats cream cheese all to heck on toasted bagels. I wasn't too hungry last night for dinner, so later in the evening I toasted up a couple parmesean bagels and since I didn't have any cream cheese, but did have some of the whole milk ricotta leftover I hadn't used in the lasagna, tried that. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! Have to experiment with herbs and such with the ricotta for other spreads for bagels. May or may not go to the drag show tomorrow night, depends on if we aren't too exhausted. We are getting tired of being tired. With luck I will get some seeds in the ground and the top on the cold frame. We also need to haul the christmas tree of

Got to thinking

about how one's preferences and tastes for food changes as we grow up. Someone commented elsewhere on my mention of blue cheese with BBQ pork and my comment back was that to me it was yum, but if you'd told me several years ago I would even be eating blue cheese some day I'd think they were insane. Growing up I was a peculiar child when it came to food. With few exceptions the only yellow cheese I would eat was Velveeta. The exceptions being I liked shredded regular cheddar cheese on my tacos and regular cheddar in my mom's baked mac & cheese. I didn't mind mozzarella as long as it was on pizza and in lasagna. The parmesean in the green can was acceptable also. It wasn't until I tried a cream cheese while living in Italy that I would even think of eating Philly type cream cheese. The Italian cheese was Bel Paese and I can still taste it 30 years later. Up until recently, I didn't like strong flavors in cheese, the strongest I would do was a medium chedda

Thought I'd share

The pork came out wonderfully and the BBQ sandwiches I made last night were yummy. We picked up some real cheeses on the way home, the sliced American processed cheese stuff didn't sound like it would do the pork justice, so we picked up some crumbled blue cheese, provalone and co-jack. I didn't feel like BBQ sauce today, so I just brought plain shredded pork and heated it up with blue cheese and put it all on a toasted parmesean bagel. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

The countdown begins!!!!!

Feb 18th 2007!!!!!! DAYTONA 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this weekend is the Budweiser Shootout so we can get our NASCAR fix in before the big race.

Best laid plans.....

The leftover chicken went into the freezer last night, hubby wanted fried chicken and not cooking really appealed to me, so we hit Winco. Good thing to as they had pork roasts on for 88 and 98 cents a lb, so we grabbed 3. One went into the freezer for later and the other two are currently in the crockpot to cook all day. I'll pull out the bones (stash those in the freezer for future stock) and shred the rest. I'll stash most of it in baggies in the freezer for quick meals later and take some and mix it with the Longhorn BBQ sauce and use the bagels we bought for buns and have BBQ pork sandiwiches for dinner tonight. The snow is rapidly going away and I am sooooooo ready for spring. I am definately going to make the attempt to get some seeds planted in the cold frame and get that finished. Going to really look at what I have available and see about getting the greehouse going as I do want to get things started early. Decided to start playing around with the templates for this b

And it goes on and on,

but at least it is warm today, currently reading 47F and sunny. It snowed some Saturday night, which made driving back from the Imbolc/Chocolate Circle fun, so glad I wasn't doing the driving. Had a good weekend, it went WAY to fast. Sat I decided that outside of getting ready for circle and baking a cake to take, I wasn't going to do much of anything else. So I didn't. I curled up on the couch and read. I read for several hours and it was so nice, I really need to do that more often. I still read a lot, but it usually on coffee breaks and at lunch at work, very rarely nice long sessions at home. Circle was fun, lots of laughter, food and friends. The Chocolate Rit did walkabout, so we winged the whole thing using the Wombat's Wiccan Rede instead, passing it around and everyone taking turns reading a bit of it. It was hysterical. It was also a bit different then the Wombat Book of Shadows I have on my homepage, but it was pretty similar and in the same humerous vein. H

BRRR! BRRR! BBRRRRR!!!!!! Le Freaking BRRR!!!!!!

Have I mentioned BRRRR!!!!!? LOL Giving serious consideration of moving my desk to the basement where think it is considerably warmer. I shouldn't have to comptimplate wearing a jacket while sitting at my desk. IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finished Eragon at break. I'll hold off reading Eldest for a while as all the Mercedes Lackey books I ordered thru ILL (interlibrary loan) have started to arrive. Luckily the first book in one of the series arrived a couple days after I got the 2nd, so I can start reading them in order. Now if the 1st book of the Storm series would show up I would be a very happy camper as that series takes place immediately after the series I just finished, the Mage series. Hubby was still craving orange chicken last night, so we hit Winco to pick some up they sell in the deli. We also needed some french bread as he was craving garlic bread, so I made that also. Needless to say, oragne chicken and garlic bread make a very intersting dinner hehehehehehehe.

OOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Hubby just called a little while ago to say the ex-pawn shop on the Troy Hwy here in Moscow that has been in the process of being remodeled has a sign out front saying it is a BBQ joint. Be still my racing heart! Fingers crossed it will be the real thing, the one thing the area needs is a real BBQ place. Will report further once I get more info. It's been so long since I've had REAL BBQ I've almost forgotten what it tastes like LOL. Everytime I watch a BBQ special on the Food Network I seriously consider packing up the car and driving cross country to anyplace in the South that has a BBQ joint. Lusious, smoky, yummy chunks of slow bbq'd animal pieces, cooked wet or dry, lovely side dishes to complement said bbq'd animal parts MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Oh great, now I'm starving LOL. In other news it is snowing lightly and is supposed to get real cold again tonight. I hope I can get the Scrapper cat in, haven't seen him for a
