My bags are packed, I'm ready to go....

Well, almost ready to go, just have a few last minute things we gotta do in the morning and we are all set. The neighbor will watch the kitties for us and see that they don't starve to death (tho the kitties will probably do their level best to convince her she needs to feed them 7-8 times a day or else they will expire on the spot LOL). After work we went over to a friends house to help her bless the place. She's been there for a while now and it was long overdue. So the blessing was full of mirth and irreverance (pretty much in keeping with our coven LOL). Did potluck, so I didn't have to deal with dinner dishes tonight as we'd hit Winco onthe way and picked up coleslaw to take for our portion. It got all eaten and the containers tossed. Right now I am winding down a bit from the day, will toddle off to bed in a few. Got the coffee maker set so we'll have coffee in the morning. Just waiting for the clothes in the dryer to finish. Normally they would have been d

Slight change in my page layout

Had a report that my page loaded strangely in IE and checked with the Bravenet Journal Gods (hey Steve, never thought you be elevated to diety did you :D ) and the problem was the pic of the targets in one of my posts. IE didn't like it because of its size. So until I can re-size it (I've still a ways to go figuring out photoshop) I've just changed the page layout so things should be easily read.

Okay, I hereby formally declare

That I am rooting for Jeff Gordon for this year's NASCAR season. Since I am fairly new to the sport, I'm not real familier with the drivers and such, but I was just back talking with a co-worker and she's a Jeff Gordon fan and she'd been teasing our afternoon courier guy who is a Ernhardt Jr fan over Gordon's win at the Daytona 500. Since she is leaving for better pastures in a month, I am going to take over the teasing, so GO GORDON!!!!!! :D

Almost there!

Wednesday and one more day of work and then a 5 day mini-vacation. The weather is going to be nice and hubby got the map software for the GPS and we are going to get some other software registered so we can geocache on the way over, there and on the way back. Should make the trip even more fun :) Stopped at Safeway last night to pick up another london broil while it was still on sale and they also had some top round roasts for the same price, so we got a couple of those. When we went thru the check out we found out that we'd hit the $100 goal for buying the Rancher's Reserve and got the form to send off for a free roasting pan with rack, so that went off in the mail this morning. I've been wanting a nice roaster of that type and since we like the RR meat, buying it to get the bonus wasn't really out of our way. Plus I've got plenty of meat sticked in the freezer. Brought in a couple plants from home to keep at work. With the vegetable starts I have going I don'

Phew!

Definately not a laid back day today :P Got up and made some coffee. We'd picked up half a pound of the Safeway Select coffee beans. the creamy hazelnut flavor. A lot of times the beans smell yummy, but when you grind and brew them they are so so. Not these, they were heaven. We gotta start buying them a lot more often, maybe try some of theother flavors. We usually get the Trader Joes coffees from my aunt for christmas, but she didn't send any this year and we'd run thru what she'd sent previously and in the meantime we've been buying the cheap stuff. Gotta treat ourselves a bit more often I think. Called a local hair salon to see if they were open. They were and I went in and got my hair cut. Went a bit shorter then i normally would with a different style. Turned out pretty nice I think (tried to post the pic, but it is HUGE! So I have to do some mre fiddling in photoshop on it and my hat pic so I can post them). Then it was back home for a late breakfast and d

Sunday!

and looking forward to a fairly quiet one. About all we have planned is the local geocache get together at the Mark IV restaurant this afternoon and take some recycling to drop off on the way. We had a very busy day in Lewiston. Dropped off the car at Mr Windshield and they loaned us one of their trucks so we could get around town. Hit the Helm Restaurant for breakfast (if you are ever in Lewiston I highly recommend the Helm for a meal. The service is good and the food is FANTASTIC! I had the biscuitts and gravy with a side of ham and I was a happy camper all day. So we were off to our first store, Black Sheep sporting goods, where we found everything we needed and then some. Then off across the river to Costco to pick up a few things. No grocery shopping this time as we'd gotten everything we needed last week, but picked up the 10 million candle power spotlight hubby wanted and my calcium citrate caps and a couple packs of batteries. Back to Lewiston and up the hill to hit Sh

Almost the weekend

And a 3 day weekend at that. Monday is a staff holiday, tho the library will still be open, but staffed with student workers. Since I have my long weekend off the weekend following (which is now a 5 day weekend as we are going to stay and extra day) I only have to work 3 days next week! WEE HAWW!!!!! The tax returns for both the state AND the feds came in today, so hubby has been running around paying a few things off. He also called around and found a place in Lewiston who will replace our cracked windshield for $250, lots cheaper then what we originally looked at last year and a little cheaper then what he'd gotten quoted today from a local place. Since we planned on being in Lewiston to do some more shopping, we'll do it down there as the company will give us a loaner car so we can run the errands. Only problem being is we have to have the car down there by 9am, so no getting to sleep in tomorrow :( While over in the Portland area we'll do some shopping, I want to see

Blech!

Still not feeling good this morning. Rather then going in to work and possibly get sicker I am home and getting ready to go back to bed. I've popped my vitamin C and my multi-vit and have my electric blanket back on. I am also feeling very, very guilty as when I called in it sounded like we are very short staffed today. But I'd rather not get sicker, but I am going to feel guilty about staying home.

I REFUSE TO BE SICK!!!!!!

Feeling icky at the moment. Seems like half the library is out sick (well, probably not ACTUALLY half, but it seems like it). My immediate supervisor was out yesterday and today, all of the documents office staff was out, our 1st floor janitor was out, one gal up on 2nd floor was out and I haven't heard if anyone up on 4th is out or not (not a whole heck of a lot of communication from there to downstairs a lot of times, tho it is getting better). So late this afternoon I started feeling cold and icky and mildly nauseous. Now, the mildly nauseous could have been from the fact I had ramen for lunch and I still haven't gotten over having eaten a ton of it when i was poor and got to the point I'd get sick to my stomach just looking at a package or a thing of cup o'noodles. So I came home and changed into my warm fuzzies and collapsed on the couch. Helped hubby get his dinner together and made up spaghetti for me as that was the only thing that sounded good. Tasted wonderf

Happy Valentines Day for those who celebrate it

Image
Hubby and I really don't, tho in the past he has surprised me with a little something on occasion. This year we didn't do anything. Driving thru town, it is a good thing we didn't want to go out for dinner, every place is packed. So we are doing burgers and fires tonight. It looks like I need to get more burger, we are running very low of the ones I made and stashed in the freezer. Weather is back to being winter again. it was COLD today. I wandered over to the Women's Center to eat my lunch and I REALLY wished I had taken a warmer jacket. I finally cropped the pic I took of the targets I shot 2 weekends ago. Here it is: The top 2 targets I shot from 21 feet with the .38 loads, the bottom was the same distance with the commerical .357 loads.

Poor Nicky kitten

He's been playing over in the equipment barn and he came home yesterday with his formerly white fur colored gray and him smelling of oil. So he got to have a bath today, the first time he's ever had one. He did fairly well, managed get get most of the way thru before he started crying pathetically. Managed to get most of the ick off of him and rinsed off. Wrapped him up in towels and toweled him off before letting him loose. I imagined he'd go hide under something, the rest of the cats usually did. Nope, he sat at my feet and licked himself dry. While I was toweling him off he was purring. Now he's sitting on the end of the psychiatrists couch looking like a happy meatloaf, so I guess he isn't too terribly mad at mommy for soaking him down and lathering him up with baby shampoo. Hopefully he'll figure out that going and playing in the equipment barn and coming home gray and oily smelling will mean a bath for him and he'll think twice about playing htere.

Lazy day

At least for me, just gotta little puttering around the house to do and a load of laundry. Hubby is over next door working on their computer. Had a nice day yesterday shopping. Our neighbors came with us. Hit Costco and picked up a couple twin packs of whole fryer chickens, another bag of frozen chicken thighs, sliced cheese, naproxine in a big bottle and a few other odds and sods (and the most important purchase, cat food LOL). Did lunch at Old Country Buffett and then hit Gottshalks. Amazing to find they have even less stuff then the Moscow store. Guess we'll just have to use the gift card on their online site. Once I figure it out I'll order up some sheet sets and seperates for the bed. I only have one complaint about shopping. When did olive oil get EXPENSIVE!!!!! I'll just stretch what I have left and invest in canola oil for when I fry, instead of using olive oil. Weather has changed, it's been windy and wet on and off since we got back from Lewiston. The gal decided not to take the mattress, said it was in too rough a condition for her. The roughness is only cosmetic, it is on the edges, the mattress is is good condition. Luckily I saved the other 3 responses so I will drop the next person in line a note and see if they are still interested, tho I have a couple friends popping over tomorrow who might not have gotten my email to the coven group about it. Have to see if they are interested before I contact the others. In the meantime it is now in the living room, blocking the buffet. I don't want to put it back in the bedroom, it takes up too much room in there, hard to get around the bed. Can't store it on the porch or in the shed, I don't have anything big enough to wrap it and I don't want it to get buggy or weather damaged. Sunny day today, it is already up to 44F and it is not quite 11am. Going to head down to Lewiston to do some shopping. Hit Costco, Shopko, the cash 'n carry, Gottshalks and maybe Home Dep

PMS Advisory System

Is it Friday yet??????

I am totally wiped today, not sure why. Woke up with a very sore right wrist, I think I did something to it in the wee hours of the morning. I should have dug out my wrist brace this morning, didn't think about it figuring I would take it easy with it durning the day. Keep forgetting I do most of everything with my right hand. So I now have a brace around it to keep myself from bending it and I slathered it with Tiger Balm. Freecycled the queen mattress we'd been using. The gal will pick it up on Sat, good thing, it is taking up a lot of space in the bedroom since we pulled it off the bed. Nicky will be upset tho, he's been climbing up to sit on top of it, lord of all he surveys LOL. Picked up some cheesecake at Safeway on the way home, our friend and neighbor who does our taxes is her normal brilliant self and we'll be getting pretty much all of what the gov't took out back. So once we get that, new windshield for the subaru, a few bills paid off, maybe a new mot

They finally put up signs on the old Bonanza restaurant they are remodeling, apparently Wingers is going to move across town into it. BLECH!!! We were hoping for a Golden Corral, an all you can eat place with steaks cooked to order, bakery and a nice salad bar. Wingers is a mediocure place where the food isn't worth the prices they charge. Hubby noticed that their food and Applebee's is pretty interchangable and neither worth going back a 2nd time for. I did have a deep down hope that they were going to put in an Outback, but I knew that wasn't going to happen here. Had to get a replacement piece for the CPAP headgear. Seems the nasal piece started to split along the seam and I ended up having to duct tape it for a couple nights. Problem was, the duct tape couldn't hold becasue of the humidiified air blowing thru. Needless to say, air blowing across ones eyes isn't conducive to decent sleep. Doing some surfing tonight (this is getting a bit too addciting), watchin

Definately bedtime

I'm sitting here with 3 traffic services open hoping to hit the same site on all three at the same time. Wonder what kind of jackpot one would get?

Catching up

Did make it out to the range on Saturday, tho the weather was looking icky. But then again there is an adage around here "Don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" to which I add "or drive 5 miles" hehehehehe. Drove right out of the hail into sunshine and blue skies. It was cold, so I layered on a heavy t-shirt with my warm fuzzy vest under the woolie pullie and then topped the whole thing with my hunting cap with the thermal liner. I was nice and toasty, at least most of me. I don't have any gloves really suitable for shooting in, so my hands got a bit cold. So we took the light load .38 and the .357 commerical loads and the bear stoppers hubby had run up for me when I went hunting to load in my Rugar for "just in case". Since this is a small framed, short barreled gun I was fully expecting it to have a kick like a mule, even with the light loads. It wasn't bad, but when we ran the other two loads thru, YE OUCH!!!! hehehehehehe I started off w

Almost time

to start the weekend! Weather has taken a definate turn to being cold again. Temps are dropping fast, the wind has kicked up and it's been raining. They are talking snow this weekend, maybe, tho a possible definate in the mountains where we really, really need it. It better not get too icky, at least tomorrow. I picked up some Shoot-N-C targets and we've lots of balloons and hopefully they left some steel targets up at the range. I really, really want to try out my new baby tomorrow. Planning on starting with some light load .38/.357 and eventually the serious .357 loads to get used to it. I'm used to my Rugar cowboy pistols which are much bigger and heavier then this new little Taurus. The Taurus is a small frame, 5 round revolver with a 2 1/4" barrel. I'll start off with the rubber grip until I get used to it and then have hubby put on the coco bolo wood grip. The wooden grip is SOOOO much prettier then the original rubber one :D Looks like we get a road trip

Something I haven't done in a while

is check the referrers list for my journal to see where folk came in from, esp the ones coming in via searches. Now, the vast majority are people doing searches for cats, recipes, pagan stuff as evidenced by this sample: easy make garlic bread imbolc clipart Pressure Cooker Split Pea Soup With Ham Homemade Noodle Drying Rack cat holding gun pic But you GOTTA wonder about the people who typed these into a search engine: free tot fat lady free toilet fetish pics "clipart" flushing toilet free nice gay boys free clipart, buttocks watch wrestling female free sample film necked boys free black booty pics yahoo watch others cam without permission

The great ones are all passing

Ossie Davis passed away at the age of 87. Mr Davis was one of the great actors of our time who stood up for who and what he believed in. Max Schmeling , best remember for losing to boxing great Joe Lewis in the 1930's, passed away at the age of 99. Although touted as the "Great Aryan champion" he refused to join the Nazi party, refused to fire his Jewish-American manager, hid 2 Jewish boys in his apartment during Kristallnacht and was friends with Joe Lewis after the fights.

RIP Dean Wormer

John Vernon , Dean Wormer in the movie Animal House passed away Tuesday . Very few could play the villain as well as he could.

SIGH!!

Driving into work this morning hubby says "There's a fireman on top of the firehouse". I start to say "He's probably cleaning up or something" when I look up and realize it is a statue of a firefighter on the corner of the building. Neither of us have noticed it before. Hubby said it looked like it had been there a while. So I ask the folk in ILL when I came in, they never noticed it. Checked with a co-worker who lives downtown. He'd never noticed it. My boss said "Oh yes!" I ask how long has it been there, she said at least 22 years. That was how long ago her daughter had looked up and said "Look Mommy!!". She says it is a weathervane I've only lived in Moscow since 1979 Hubby is going to get me on the list for the concealed carry course a friend of ours runs occasionally. I did have a course about 6 years ago, but I would feel much more comfortable have more current info and a current certificate. Some things have changed law-

Quiet evening

Hubby is next door working on their computer. A fair trade, she does our taxes and he keeps her 'puters running. She is also a long time friend of mine and a kick to hang out with. So I 'm sitting here surfing BZ (and still waiting to find out why my profile won't display on the site, it is getting very annoying), dinner in the oven (au gratin potato stuff and pork cutlets), listening to the country station and searching the Taurus Firearms site looking for info on my new wittle one :D My dear, sweet, sneaky hubby picked up my revolver today and surprised me with it on the way home. I was supposed to go in and do the paperwork and he went ahead and did it. Tried to claim it was now going to be HIS pistol, but that didn't fly. He arranged to get it for ME and I wasn't going to let that sweet little babe out of my hot little hands hehehehehehe. Besides, Idaho is a community property state. What's his is mine and what's mine is mine SNERK So, now I am prayi

Dad rat it!

Totally spaced the Imbolc circle this last weekend. Ran into one of my coven mates at the store last night and she mentioned it. I've also just discovered I have 50, yes 50 Gmail invites!!!!!!!! So, if anyone out there in blogland hasn't gotten one yet and wants one, click into my profile (up on the bar "me, myself & I") and drop me a note using my email link. Send me your name(they want first and last) and a legitimate email to send the invite to and I'll send one to you.

Happy Belated Birthday to my Journal

My journal turned 1 year old 1/27/05

PHEW!!!! Dodged that bullet!

Was looking at my Tracfon last night and realized my airtime card was due 1/30, the day before yesterday. Ran around our side of town looking for a card, Safeway was right out of the 40 minute cards, so ended up paying a little more then we wanted to at the Tesoro station. It was either that or drive back across town to Wally World to save $3. At 8:30 at night it wasn't worth it, but I got it renewed just under the wire. I guess you get a bit of a grace before they shut down your phone number. Considering how many years I resisted getting a cell, it is amazing the panic one gets when the loss of it is impending
