We went to the fair on Thursday. The nice thing about it opening on a Thursday is that the crowds aren't as large, which I can deal with.
The Latah County Fair isn't a very large one, and it's easy to see everything in about 3-4 hours, depending on how long you spend checking out the exhibits and chatting with people you know. Add another hour or two for the midway.
After wandering through the swine and cattle barns, we got the hubby a corn dog and then headed for the exhibit hall so I could see how I did.
First stop was the Huckleberry Battle, where I saw the blue ribbon and a very nice note from the editor of the magazine who puts the battle on. I'm looking forward to next year's battle. I'm eager to see the recipe so I can adapt it to be gluten-free.
Happy with my one blue ribbon, we quickly found the gluten-free class:

For some reason, someone re-wrote my recipe card. Very annoying, as I can't guarantee the outcome using anything other than Bob's Red Mill Gluten-free 1-to-1 Flour Blend, plus I used half butter and half shortening. And my sugar mixture had nutmeg. Oh well, if someone asks, I will give them the correct recipe.

And finally, my GF sourdough sandwich bread. Not sure why it cracked like that, but it still earned a blue ribbon, so I am happy.

I am looking forward to next year. I am going to see about upping my game, especially in the cookie category. I'm hooked, I want a Best in Class ribbon.
