Serious meltage

It started melting Monday night and by Tuesday it was getting serious:

Day 1 of the Great Melt off 1-7-09

Day 1 of the Great Melt off

Day 1 of the Great Melt off

And then this morning:

I can see yard!!!!!!

The flamingos are no longer snow bound LOL!

Of course all that melt has to go somewhere. South fork of the Palouse River anyone?

The river is rising 1-8-09

The river is rising 1-8-09

It is getting close to overflowing its banks. It has finally stopped raining, so with luck the melt will slow down a bit and won't overflow the rivers and creeks around here.

We have quite a bit of water to deal with also, but, not as much as the west side of the state. At least not yet. Good pictures - at least you can see green grass. Can't see the grass in my backyard yet.

Yeah, I'd heard on the news this morning that downtown Snowqualimie was under water.

The wind goes thru out yard from west to east, so it was pretty helpful in shrinking the snow. Phoebe is happy, she can go out an not be on snow, tho the grass is still a bit to wet for her comfort LOL

They had to evacuate just about every where we've been looking at houses. 20 miles worth of I5 south of Olympia is closed. Remember the pictures of the Walmart in Centralia under water last year? In the "500 Year Flood"? Guess what?
I5 at Fife was under water this afternoon--not bad enough to close it, but bad enough.
Yeah, it's a little wet here.

I've been hearing about the evacuations out your way all day today. Definitely sounds like the wet side is getting hammered. Hopefully it will dry up soon before it gets any worse.
