WOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the No Super-WalMart site:

"Voting 4 to 1 with 1 abstention, Moscow P&Z denied the Walmart
developer request to rezone 77 acres belonging to the Thompson family
to Motor Business. The general sentiment of all members was the scale
was too large for Moscow and invited the developer to reapply with a
mixed use approach that better fits the community."

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another road block in front of Wally World's attempt to build a super center here in Moscow. I doubt they will do much to further pursue the matter, they got their way over in Pullman to build that one, tho the Pullman folk who don't want it will be pursuing appeals there. As I've said before, we have an adequate Wally World here and Moscow does not need a supercenter.

In other news, the wind blew in last evening. The snow had started earlier in the day and hubby had to go out twice to brush of the satellite dish as the wind blew the snow onto it just right to cut the signal. Some friends out of town lost power for a little while, but we had a momentary blip and that was it. It did get cold enough to freeze overnight, the roads and sidewalks were slicker then snail snot this morning. Getting out of the car out back of the library was fun, there was a good 1/4" sheet of ice in the parking lot. Luckily someone had thrown sand out, so it wasn't TOO bad walking the few feet to the steps.

Took a couple acetominphen PMs before bed and managed to sleep thru most of the wind.

Did chicken for dinner last night, oven fried with some boxed noodle stuff on the side and corn for the veggie. Had lots of leftovers, so brought that for lunch today. I'll probably do burgers and fries for dinner tonight, slice some bread for buns. Definately going to look at doing homemade buns soon. Tomorrow is payday, so will look at getting more burger for patties and such.

The thumb I jammed yesterday morning is a bit swollen today and hurts to bend. You don't realize it until you can't use it how much you ned your thumb :( Tying my shoes this morning was a royal pain (pun very much intended). I have afinger splint at home, but couldn't find it, otherwise I'd splint the puppy to keep from bending it, tho the pain is pretty goot at reminding me to keep it straight :P

Although it's been California's opposition to Wal-Mart that's been getting all the headlines, it's interesting to an outsider like me that communities far and wide are taking a stand against its perceived dominant influence.

Even here in Britain, there's a backlash growing against the business practices of one of their subsidiaries.

Oh, and it's great to encounter a fellow cat-loving blogger. Even one who owns a cat of their own, instead of just being friendly with a neighbor's, like I am.
