They really should have know better:
Alaskan boy, 15, fights as brown bear attacks
By Mary Pemberton
The Associated Press
ANCHORAGE A 15-year-old boy on a wilderness expedition for emotionally troubled youths woke up to find a 400-pound brown bear with a bad attitude sitting at his feet.
The Barrow boy at first thought it was a camp counselor rustling around at the foot of his tent Saturday morning on Deer Island in Southeast Alaska.
But when he figured out it was a bear, the young man keeping his wits about him tried to slip quietly away.
The bear would have none of it.
-snip-
Why the *&*^ was the boy allowed to take rice-a-roni into the tent with him. You NEVER EVER take any food into your tent when you are out in the woods, not even a gum wrapper! Thank the gods the boy is relatvely okay, the poor bear had to be killed because of human stupidity. Like I said, I blame the counselors who should have put their foot down and told the boy to finish the food before going into his tent.
