Life continues

It has been so nice having hubby home. He's still feeling a bit punky, but that is to be expected. I drove to work this morning and went home at lunch. He was feeling good enough to keep the car and bring me back. Came up with a yummy way to bake chicken. I have it posted on my cooking blog . Saturday finally got the hide-a-bed taken apart and out of the house. Moved the love seat in and tried it out a couple days in place of the couch. Yesterday I swapped it for the futon. It is a nice love seat, but hard to get out of and a bit too small to be used as a main couch. Moved a few other things around in the living room and it is looking good. Just need to do a bit more dcluttering and it will be nice. Scored a sandwich maker on Freecycle. We'd hoped to get the rice cooker/steamer, but someone beat us to it. I think I did a lot better on my test this morning. Was a whole lot less stressed this time around. Of course I have spent most of my time since stressing that I didn't an

The memorial

The memorial for Officer Lee Newbill was beautiful and well attended. Before, there was a procession thru town of all the officers and EMS who came for the memorial. I took a later lunch to go over and we were also given time of to go. Quite a few people from the library went and I saw a lot of people from all over campus attending. Several people talked of Ofc Newbill. Wayne Rausch (Latah Sheriff), Dan Weaver (Moscow Police Chief), Mr Newbill, Lee's father and Lee's three children: Jeremiah and Christina Newbill and Lisa Rippee. Jerimiah read a poem: Judgment Day For A Police Officer The police officer stood and faced his Maker, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, police officer how shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To your Maker, have you been true?" The police officer, with squared shoulders, said "No sir, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who ca

I'll have some vid, images and thoughts later.

Hubby's home

They sprung him yesterday morning, so I went over right after class to get him. Got him home and let him play with the TV remote. He was SOOOO happy to zip thru commericals and find channels that didn't have nothing but soaps or infomercials LOL. We both went down for a nap for a few hours. That felt so good. Kitties were very happy, tho they did the "OH you're home! YAY!!! Now feed me and pet me!!" hehehehehehe. After his nap he had some chicken noodle soup and came with me when I went to Winco. He needed to get out and about a bit, he was getting cabin fever. Luckily Winco has some nice new motorized carts, so he got to zip around the store in comfort. Picked up some ground turkey (he wasn't too thrilled with that, but even extra lean ground beef is too fatty for the time being), cous cous, some 100% whole wheat hot cereal, several different multigrain breads, thin sliced turkey for sandwiches, cream of mushroom soup and some chicken and beef boullion. I'm p

Can we start this month over?

Godz, it's been a nutzoid week. What with hubby in hospital, the shootings this weekend, having to still deal with class and exams and then work and home, I think I am so tempted to run screaming into the hills and refuse to come back. Hubby is doing much better, with luck we'll have him home tomorrow. He was talking with his doc and she said if is test results from the ER had been 10 points higher he would have landed in ICU, instead of a regular hospital bed. EEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily they weren't and he responded to treatment, his numbers dropped drastically by Sunday and then back down to normal yesterday so he was able to have clear liquids for meals. He's been on a treatment of no food or water, nothing by mouth at all since being admitted and has been hooked up to an IV to keep him hydrated. Getting liquids yesterday was contingent to being able to stay off his pain meds for several hours and he was able to do tha

Three dead in Moscow church shooting

Life is going to be flakey for a while

Dear darling hubby has landed himself in hospital this week. His pancreas got a wee bit ticked off and is taking it out on him. So we ended up in the emergency room at 2am Friday morning. Seems he's managed to set a record in the levels of ticked off pancreatic enzymes, so they admitted him and he is on a strict no nothing by mouth for a while. So he is hooked up to an IV and they are keeping a very strict eye on his blood sugars to make sure he stays okay there. He was in such pain when we brought him in that he wanted morphine, this the guy who I have to hogtie to take an aspirin. His doc was in a little bit ago and his numbers are looking so much better. His pancreas ones are below 1000 now (he was in 5 figures before). They need him to be below 300. We are extremely impressed with the care here, Gritman is a great hospital if you have to get sick. Very nice room and great staff. A week or so ago, some idiot ran into the fire hydrant out side and flooded the hospital, making the

Oh for crying out loud!

First off we've had to put up with listening to poor, poor Paris whinging and crying about how unfair everything is because her butt was getting slammed into jail for violating her probation and such. She even had a shrink publically state she was "traumatized" by the whole thing. NOW she's only getting maybe 23 days in jail instead of the 45 she was sentenced. Why might you ask? Well, apparently she'll getting time off for expected good behavior!?!?!?! EXSQUEEZE ME!?!?!?! Sorry, she needs to be in there for the full time so she can finally (with any luck) learn she isn't the special person her parents told her she is and that her behavior is going to have some serious consequences. Maybe she'd finally learn something, like how to behave and actually develop something like responsibility. A friend of hubby's has coined a phrase that fits this situation. Pathological entitlement. A very good phrase and fits this whinging twit to a T. She seems to think

First week of class is over

And we have an exam on Monday, so I'll need to go over all the material again this weekend. It will either be long essay or short essays, so hopefully I can BS my way thru it. Trying to do that on an early Monday morning is going to be asking ALOT! LOL. Shouldn't be too hard tho, I have a good grasp of all the concepts, I just have to be able to put them down on paper in something resembling coherency. Picked up the love seat last night, it is out on the lawn on wood to keep it off the ground and covered with tarps as there is no room on the deck at the moment and definately none in the house. We need to febreeze the heck out of it, it is a bit musty. Have to do a bit of sewing on one of the back cushions, but not much. The more I think about it, the more I am planning on putting it where the futon is now and moving the futon over. Unless I get a bee in my bonnet about it tonight, we'll wait until this weekend to take apart the couch and get everything moved in and out. I w

Our day out at Spring Valley

Here is the vid from Sunday. I had lots of fun getting it processed down, had to chop it in two and then lots of trimming to get both bits below the 100 mg limit. Pt 1: Pt 2: As they say, a bad day fishing is better then a good day at work LOL!

'Tis Wednesday

And I think I am finally getting into the new routine of getting up early. Of course that is because I am going to bed much earlier hehehehehehe. Yesterday tho was not great, I rolled out of bed at 6:45 and only had time for half a cup of coffee and since I'd forgotten my coffee mug at work, didn't have coffee to bring with me. Needless to say, brain dead city all day. I was going to get coffee at lunch, even tho I try not to drink any after 11am, but I was desperate. Of course, it turns out I need coffee to make my brian work and since I didn't have any, I forgot to get coffee at lunch. SIGH!!!! Today I had plenty of coffee with me and I am doing much better. I can't believe it took an antrhopology class for the Pythagorium Theory to click in my brain. We were discussing scientific theory today in preperation for the rest of class so as to understand the differences between Euro-American viewpoints and Tribal-Traditional viewpoints, so we were looking at the thoeries b

Blurble!

6 am was too damned early this morning (pardon my French), but I did want to at least show up for class relatively on time at least once LOL. Good thing I'd given my self a few extra minutes to get there. I dropped my stuff off at my desk on the way (the class in the the TLC) and just took my note book and books and discovered they moved the class. Trouble was, it was switched to room 50 from 222, and they didn't have any signs pointing to room 50. Found a sign for rooms 42-47, but no 50. After wandering about a bit, finally decided to go down the hallway towards rm 47 and low and behold, found room 48, room 49 and tucked into a corner next to a storage room, rooms 50 and 51. You'd think that after spending all that money on the remodeling, they could have at least gotten signs that accurately list what &%^$ rooms are down a hallway. SIGH! But class will be fun, only 13 students (tho when we came back from a break halfway thru, we were short one student). Since I only g

THEY'RE OPEN!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! We popped in for lunch today, I think they underestimated the response of their opening as by the time we got there, they had run out of sandwich rolls and had to go out for more, the chicken was all gone and there would be none until they got the new batch cooked and they had also run out of rolls for the combo plates. In a word, a very successful opening that I could see. My review: YUM!!!!!!!! It is Texas style bbq and delish. The beans were a tad spicier then hubby liked, but considering when we first got married, they would have been too much for him to handle. The potato salad was totally yummy and I am not fond of potato salad. This I would go out of my way for. The pulled pork was tender, the brisket was to die for and the bbq sauce was flavorful, but didn't overwhelm the smoky flavor of the meat. All in all, a definate 4 thumbs up and it goes on our permanent place to go eat list.

YUMMMMM!!!!!!!

VJ's BBQ opened today and we had lunch there. Review and video coming soon!

Okay, I've stopped feeling guilty.

I told hubby the cost and not only didn't he blink, he said I really deserved it. So tomorrow morning I go in for a morning of pampering :D I will definately get before and after footage and pics. I've passed the point of no return on my class, I paid for it this morning so now I am committed. I'll buy the books tomorrow after my appointment. Hubby picked up a new toy yesterday (part of the reason he didn't blink over my salon visit LOL), so we are (fingers crossed) going to the range today after work to make sure it is okay. We didn't make it out to Spring Valley last night and we were considering tonight, but hubby wants to try out the 1911 and I wouldn't mind trying it myself. It is a .45 and is sweet to hold. Hubby is afraid I'll really like it and claim it as my own. Semi-autos are fun, but I am a revolver girl, so it will be his (just as long as I get to shoot it once in a while if I do like it). Getting real ancy to unseal the house completely, but te

EEP!! I'm not going to feel guilty

I'm not going to feel guilty, I'm NOT going to feel guilty. I haven't even gone and I am already feeling guilty. Hubby told me to call my favorite hair salon for a cut, color, manicure and pedicure. So I did and I was so happy to get my favorite stylist that I forgot to ask how much it all costs. So I had to call back. EEP!!!!! I hate spending that much (just over 3 figures) on an item of clothing, much less a hair cut and fiddling with nails and feet. Then again, it will be 3 hours of me time being pampered. I deserve it :D Besides, how often does one get to get pampered like this. I've got the hair cut in mind, my SIL suggested the color and gave me the numbers used (she is a stylist) and so I'm going in Saturday morning. I'll get before and after pics (an maybe some during hehehehehe). So yesterday I played hooky from work and we went down to Lewiston/Clarkston for some shopping. We hit Ross and Fashion Bug. Only found a couple things, cute things, but only a

Update

Decided the short term forecast for this evening made it iffy for going out to the range. Good thing, the weather rolled in a few minutes ago (about a half hour after we would have gotten to the range) and now I'm hoping our porch roof stays on. It is a tad bit windy. S we'll go out tomorrow. I'm taking tomorrow afternoon off so we can run a couple errands down in Lewiston and then we can go shooting after that. The good news is Scrapper showed up, so now I am a much happier mommy knowing he's curled up on the couch right now and not out in that weather. I hope we get some decent thunder and lightning, we haven't had a good thunderstorm in a LONG time.

This is just sooooo me!!!!!

Today's Pearls before Swine

Going to be a scorcher today

and if yesterday afternoon was any indication, it is going to be miserable here in the office. I may have to see about opening some windows, tho that would involve a glass cutter or a thrown chair LOL. I thought I was going to die of suffacation yesterday it got so warm and stagnent in here. We were going to go out to the range after work yesterday, but a client was late, so we didn't. We'll go tonight instead. Planning on shooting Maureen, Charlotte, Baby (my lever action .357 rifle) and Michael (the Garand). Yes, pretty much ALL my firearms have names hehehehehehehe. Some of the .22s still need to be named, but I haven't shot them enough. One is called Granddad's as it is the one I inherited from my father after he died and it had belonged to his father. It is a single shot bolt .22. Still haven't seen hide nor hair of Scrapper, now I am officially worried. Tho I've had kitties go walkabout before for longer. Hubby did see the Clone yesterday, he's got a l

My 2 latest vids

These were filmed a couple weeks back when our friends were here. I'm trying out some new vid processing software hubby had. At the top of the grade: Up the Spiral Highway (I realized after I got everything done I'd left a segment out, so I guess I have some more vid to edit hehehehehe):

No clever title today, 'tis Monday and I can't think

Hehehehehehehe. Weekend was entirely too short, as usual. Luckily it was nice out, tho it did get a wee bit chilly by the time the sun went down Saturday night for circle. Warmed up quickly once the bon fire got going. Didn't do too much this weekend, tho I've been playing with a couple of video editing programs hubby had discs for. Found one I like, so we'll see if I can start cranking out some more vids. I still have a couple to process from a few weeks ago and then I've got the footage from the walk to do. Took some photos out at the farm and posted a couple on my Flickr account. I'd hoped to have the pro account by now, but the budget went kablooie, so I'm still limited to the freebie acount and 200 pics viewable. Haven't seen Scrapper since Saturday morning. J mentioned she hasn't seen Yellow Cat in a couple days either, so I am hoping they are just out catting around and not getting into too much trouble. Even tho Scrapper has lived rough and is a

Letter to Old Navy

Dear Old Navy, thank you for deciding I'm not good enough to shop at your stores and that my money is no good. You are going to save me a LOT of money as I will not be stepping foot into your new store here in Moscow when it opens. Your decision that plus sizes will no longer darken your floors tells me you dislike anyone in them who is not any of the "standard" sizes and we are not welcome. Now, you've replied to other people that you'll still be selling plus sizes online, but that isn't good enough. You've decided that fat folk such as myself don't deserve the pleasure of walking into your store and actually trying on the clothing. You've gone beyond other stores when it comes to putting the fat clothing in the ghettos of the basement or back beyond the luggage sections. You've moved us out of your stores all together and figured out how to charge us even more money for the privilage of wearing your goods. You see, we'll have to pay shipp

Happy Beltaine y'all

'Tis Friday and tomorrow is Beltaine circle. Hopefully the weather will be decent, it is supposed to be partly cloudy. I'll be catching a ride out with someone as hubby doesn't feel like going and I don't want to drive out all by my lonesome. Not a clue right now what I'll be taking for potluck. Survived a library strategic staff retreat on Wednesday. I'm tempted to have pneumonia or appendicitis the next time one rolls around. It wouldn't have been too bad, but I don't do early mornings, the chairs were murder on my hips and back and all day is just too much. Lunch was delicious tho, chicken breast on chibatta and with a mayo and tapanade spread. I fed my red bell peppers to my friend and co-worker who was there. Me and bell peppers don't get along to terribly well. Not sure if I will go to the Ren Faire this weekend, if I do I'll take Ms Ella along. Still trying to get her a wagon to travel in. Hubby is talking a visit to the range on Sunday, s
