A giggle from YouTube

This vid came thru an email list I am on and I HAD to share it. How to wash a cat:

Monday catsup

Yahoo Groups finally is back to normal, ie only a little fouled up instead of big time. Makes for a darned difficult time to get things done thru groups when their email servers have puked. Woke up this morning to find 300+ emails that finally got thru. Dedinately going to see about moving some of my groups over to Google now that they are offering more things for Groups. Came screaming off the gluten-free thing big time on Friday. I'd started looping into the "diet" mentality and started going crazy. I figured I had enough data to take to my new doc to see about proper tests. Managed to get the Scrapper cat inside most of Saturday, haven't seen him since. Really need to get him in again asap so we can get an appointmet for him and know we'll have him handy for it. Never made it outside to even look at my garden space. Sat we'd hit the gun show for a couple hours and then it was out to Winco to pick up lasagna supplies and once the sauce was going, it was time

YAY!!!! FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Finally and it is a nice day out. Currently 26F and sunny. The car was a bit frosted this morning, but the frost was soft, so scrapping the windows wasn't bad and the defroster did the rest. Scrapper cat showed up for breakfast this morning. Hubby had seen him previously to feed him, but I hadn't. His left ear is a bit chewed up so he got into it with someone. SIGH! Well, with luck we can get him edited soon and half that problem will go away. Hubby was craving orange chicken last night, so we hit Winco to see what we could find. Not seasoning packets or bottles of orange sauce, so we picked up a General Tsao's seasoning packet. No gluten in the packet, I used GF flour, but unfortunately the soy sauce I had at home contains wheat. Okay, thinks I, I only need 3 tbs, shouldn't be a problem. SIGH!!!!!!! Spent most of the evening with a bloated tummy and not feeling that great. The chicken was to die for, tho a little bit more spicy then I normally eat (and LOTS more spicy

WOO HOOO!!!!!!

Almost Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 5

and so far so good, tho yesterday afternoon my tummy was NOT happy with me after lunch. Not sure why, but lunch didn't settle too well (leftover chicken with peanut sauce and rice from Sat night) and I ended up havinging a piece of corn bread and a can of Shasta lemon lime soda for dinner. Was in bed by 9:30, I would have gone earlier, but I figured 7pm was too early. Feeling better today, brought bean soup and corn bread for lunch. Dinner tonight will be chicken with ranch seasoning and rice. Something quick and simple. The pain in my knees has gotten better, I don't scream with I get out of bed in the morning or when standing up after sitting for a while. The pain in the left knee is still making itself known, but not as badly. Not sure if it is from being gluten-free or the fact I started wearing my Crocs again the other day. I'll look at wearing regular shoes the next few days to see. I would like to take a moment to say "DIE FOOD NETWORK DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!" They

Survived the weekend

Friday we picked up sub sandwiches from Winco for dinner and then had rum and cokes to go with it. We also picked up some double chocolate chocolate chip muffins and I never got around to having one and on Saturday I started the gluten-free experiment. WAAAHHH!!!!!!!! Oh well, hubby enjoyed them hehehehehehe. So so far, so good. Haven't felt deprived, figured out what in the pantry I can and can't have this week and was very happy to find that Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce is gluten-free, so one of my favorite seasonings is still on the list. My Johnny's seasoning salt however is off limits this week, it contains soy sauce powder which is made with wheat. Made a big pot of bean soup and for dinner last night I did chicken nuggets using gluten free flour. Came out pretty tasty. Used soda water instead beer and seasoned the chicken with the Johnny's garlic ceasar blend. Sat night I made chicken in peanut sauce, luckily the one jar of pad thai sauce was specifical

An experiment

Decided to go a week gluten free starting tomorrow. I've been getting these little niggling thoughts in the back of my brain for a while and have been checking symptoms of celiac's and a good many of them I am having. The thing being is the symptoms can also be a sign of something else, but decided to see what going off gluten says. There is a slight outside chance of developing celiac's, a high number of Graves' patients have been diagnosed with it. Having one autoimmune disorder leaves you open to developing another, so one needs to be really in tune with ones bod for anything out of the ordinary. Luckily I have a small supply of gluten free mixes I'd gotten on Freecycle so I could have stuff to feed friends, so I won't be completely devoid of things I like, like mac & cheese. I also have half a package of Bob's Red Mill gluten free flour so I can have my pancakes this weekend. If it looks like I improve on a gluten free diet, I can have my new doc che

Dog Found Buried Alive For as long as I have been alive and seen things on the news, I still can't believe there are people out there who do things like this. What kind of sicko buries animals alive like that to die a slow, terrifying death. What kind of person just throws out a perfectly wonderful pet to slowly starve to death or get killed by other animals. We live just outside of town and people are always throwing away their cats out near us. Look people, we have all the pets we can handle and kitty cats just left out near our place may not survive for too long as we have coyotes looking for an easy dinner, and kitties who were not raised wild don't stand a very good chance if they don't have a home to stay safe in. I hate people who think abandoning critters out near a farm and think they will get good homes. I dearly would love to haul their asses out and do the same to them and see how they like it. I would dearly love to find the slime who buried that poor puppy and

Fairly good weekend

Was very cold tho. Managed to keep Scrapper in and more or less happy at night. Ended up having to set up a litter box for him in the front hallway as Nicky kept chasing him away from the other one. Good thing I put down the plastic carpet runner in that spot as Rum Tum is making use of it and he is VERY enthusiastic when it comes to covering. Weather is technically warmer today, but with the windchill it is very cold. Scrapper chredded the plastic over the kitchen sink window, so I still have to replace it. It was the shrink wrap kind. Made bread yesterday, two loaves of sourdough and two whole wheat. 1 loaf each I wrapped in wax paper and stashed in a plastic bag in the freezer after the first rise. The other two loaves I baked last night and MMMMMMMM, the house smelled so yummy. Ended up making a trip down to Lewiston on Sat. Last minute decision that morning as we weren't sure if we could afford to go, so we didn't do too much shopping, but we really needed kitty food and t

RIP Benny Parsons

Sad news from the NASCAR world: Parsons dies at 65 after battle with lung cancer As much as I disliked the NBC coverage of NASCAR, I liked Benny and enjoyed listening to his coverage of the races. This last season it was very noticable when he was to ill to make the race and I missed his commentary. Bye bye Benny, we'll miss ya.

FRIDAY!!! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!!!!

And a 3 day weekend to boot. I am so looking forward to burrowing in and not doing a whole heck of a lot. I do plan on getting some baking done, nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread on a cold winter's day. I still have that cookie gun to try out also. I have decided to change doctors. I've liked my current doc, but have been unhappy after the last couple of visits. There is a practice in town that is on our medical plan where the doctors are 7th Day Adventists and they are more into the whole body/mind/spirit aspect of medicine, so I am going to give them a try. My neighbor sees the one doc and she's been happy with him. So we'll see. Managed to keep the Scrapper cat in last night, night before last he insisted on going back outside, but last night I put my foot down and told him he was staying inside. He is coming to the porch in the evening, so I think he is getting used to the idea, but I still have to physically haul him in the house as he'll come to the

The semester has started

and I swear the students are more brain dead then ever. It snowed last night and you would think by now students would have a clue about hills, cars and snow and ice. But no, one student thought walking down the middle of a steep hill covered in snow and ice with LOTS of traffic was good thing. The scary thing is he'll probably breed before he finally gets himself removed from the gene pool. SIGH!!!!! On a better front the civilizing of the Scrapper cat continues. We managed to keep him in the house last night with very little drama and after he had breakfast, went out when I left for work. Hubby will bring him in if he's on the porch when he gets back from running errands. I'm hoping to get him into the house tonight and keep him in for the next week as the temps will be dropping to single digits and I don't want him outside. I've some paperwork to get a coupon from the Humane Society for $30 off a neutering at the vets, so we will see about getting him edited asap

PTHHHPPPPP!!!

Monday again, the weekend was WAY too short. At least today is fairly quiet, classes don't start until Wednesday, not today as I was thinking. So a lot of students haven't gotten back into town yet. Fine with me. Yesterday spent most of the day labeling the movies we have burned to DVD and get thing listed on a database. We are getting quite a few. Now we just have to get all the tapes recycled and we'll have LOTS more room on shelves. hubby needs the shelf space in the office. House-wise I am doing fine, the kitchen is in good order, the sink is shiny and I have an idea for what dinner will be this week. I baked a chicken yesterday for dinenr and the leftovers will go for dinner tonight. I plan on doing a pot of rice and adding the rice and then make a peanut sauce and do a one pot dinner. Nice and quick. I'm planning on adding an exercise routine starting today, which is why I'm making an easy dinner. While the rice is cooking, I can pop my bellydancing vid into t

Saturday

Finished taking the tree down today, most of the decorations are put away with the exception of a couple strands of lights and the Crone's santa hat and garland boa. Keep some sparklies up for a while longer. The tree I hauled out still in the stand and parked it in front of the car. I may consider sticking it in the yard, since it is cold enough it will stay green for a while and it would be nice to have a green tree out there until it is time to take it to the compost. Hauled in the sewing table, need to see about a bit of modifications to it to fit my sewing machine, but it is usable as is. I figure if I have the sewing machine out and visible I will actually use it LOL. I managed to get two pairs of sweats for hubby repaired, a pair of my good pants and a satiny coverup for me. Still have a bit of mending and hemming to do. Picked up a couple pizzas from Pizza Perfection, got their take out special, buy 1 get 1 free. So we ate pizza and drank ourselves silly last night. Rum and

On the downhill slope

to the weekend. This morning started of cold and sunny and by the time I got done with lunch we had big, fat, fluffy flakes of snow falling. As pretty as it is looking, I was enjoying the relative warm weather we were having, leaky rood not withstanding. Oh well, I still have my snow shovel handy. Going to start taking the tree down tonight, I'll take a couple days to do it and then look at putting decorations away this weekend. But not too quickly, the place always looks depressing if I take things down to fast. Instead of putting the cabinet back in the place the tree is, I'll leave it in hubby's office and put up the sewing table instead. If I have the sewing machine in sight and ready to go I might actually get some mending done. DAMN!!! Just read on the web a UI cheerleader was killed in a car accident and another was injured in the same accident. One other young woman was also killed and a couple others injured as well. That sucks. The two killed were only 18 and 19.

Wednesday amusement

This came thru a list I am on. I wish they would do these again, there are a LOT of drivers out there who could benefit from this wisdom: HISTORY LESSON Just a little history lesson. Those Grand Old Burma Shave Road Signs TRAINS DON'T WANDER ALL OVER THE MAP 'CAUSE NOBODY SITS IN THE ENGINEER'S LAP Burma Shave SHE KISSED THE HAIRBRUSH BY MISTAKE SHE THOUGHT IT WAS HER HUSBAND JAKE Burma Shave Remember these? For those who never saw any of the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in our history of the 1930s and '40s. Before there were interstates, when everyone drove the old 2 lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted all over the countryside in farmers' fields. They were small red signs with white letters. Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing 1 line of a 4 line couplet...... and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream. Here are more of the actual signs: DON'T LOSE YOUR HEAD TO GAIN A MINUTE YOU NE

Happy New Year, a day late

LOL. Was so out of it yesterday didn't get much done. We'd planned on going to the masquarade ball at the Beach on Sunday night for the New Year's party, but by the time we got back into Moscow and home from our friends where we had a wonderful 9 course dinner, formal sitdown, we were totally bagged. So we watched TV instead. Got out to shoot my new rifle on Sunday, we went out to our friends early: I only ran a couple clips thru, it was cold enough hubby was wearing a light jacket. We'd hoped to rejoin the local gun club to get access to the range, but they are now INSISTING that you HAVE to join the NRA and take the NRA pledge to join the club, so the hell with them. As hubby says, no one TELLS us what groups we have to join. The NRA national is on our sh*t list for the crap they pull (eliminating the women's shooting magazine is the latest BS they've pulled that has pissed me off) so we won't give them any of our hard earned money. Now, if they had a loca
