This weekend's closet find

Image
Excavated some of my closet yesterday, bagged up a few things for Hope Center and a bag of things that will get turned into rags. In my excavations I found a nice top I'd bought in Canada a while back and totally forgot about: Better look at the neck and detail: It is a nice soft knit with a soft faux fur color. Normally I would not wear it with black pants, but I am pretty much down tot he one pair and none of the slacks I found tucked away are in any condition anymore to be worn. So into the rag bag they went. I do have a couple skirts that it will go with, but until it stops snowing, those outfits will be on hold.

Just a tad snowy

Jack was looking rather festive on top of the car this morning:

'Tis Friday!

Looking forward to a quiet weekend. Not planning on doing much. Dug around in my closet and came up with a cool outfit for today: Here it is with a shawl because is is still too danged cold in the building: I love the necklace I got from a friend at Yule, it is way cool: Been watching lots of mysteries set in the 30s, am thinking of working on a number of looks that are influenced by that time period. I think this outfit is a good start. Now I just need to decide on a hair style and get my hair chopped.

Back to the land of the living

Started feeling like crap Thursday afternoon, called in sick Friday morning and went back to bed. Not the cold or flu, just a general crud that had me feeling like death warmed over. So spent most of the weekend either sleeping or crashed on my chair watching Netflix. Lots and lots of Netflix. Now in season 3 of Doc Martin , almost finished with Campion and have started Murdoch Mysteries . Watched a few other things, had a Vincent Price double feature one night and then of course, my ultimate comfort watching, Emergency! So didn't manage a whole heck of a lot, tho I did get some laundry done. Hubby wasn't feeling up to snuff either, so we made a pair LOL! Was feeling better by Sunday and by Monday MUCH better. Hubby insisted I treat myself to lunch at Tam's Place and the matinee of Les Miz at the Pullman Village Cinema . MMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good lunch and a WONDERFUL movie. I can't wait til it is out on DVD so I can sing along and not bot

A wee bit snowy this morning

Image
It was the light, fluffy dry snow tho, so it wasn't too bad. Rum Tum is a bit disappointed tho, can't make snow balls out of this stuff. So glad for boots: They still had some work to do in town: So glad hubby is willing to do most of the driving. While I probably wouldn't have had any problems driving in, I'd rather be chauffeured hehehehe.

LOVE my new business cards

Image
Decided since I had a positive balance at my Zazzle shop to check out the quality of the business cards. WOW!!!!!!! They came out great. Decided to splurge and get them on the platinum card stock (after all, I AM worth it LOL!) and printed double sided. They came out beautifully and something I can't wait to do some serious designing on. I do have a few plain designs available now.

Food pron Wednesday

Winco is finally carrying Franz gluten free bread . Picked up a loaf of the mountain white to give it a try : Not a wimpy sandwich, plenty of cheese and pepperoni to give it some UMPH! The mountain white is as good as the 7 grain and I love them both. Still a bit ont he pricey side (face it, when you are used to paying less the a $1 a loaf of bread,, almost $6 a loaf will make you pause). But the product it worth it. I've gotten out of having sandwiches every time I turn around, so the cost isn't going to be that much in the long run. This gives me a break in my steamed tortillas with cheese lunches. And frankly, when I could still eat regular wheat bread, I was doing toasted cheese sandwiches so much I was getting sick of them.

The cure for an icky Monday

Image
Esp when the weather outside is this: Is a WAY cool hat: It is a tad bit big, had to put in a dart so it fits better. But it is a cool hat and I like it. Have to go thru my hat collection and see what else I have that will make the icky weather seem better hehehehehe!

Why I need chain mail gloves in the kitchen

Image
And I wasn't even actively slicing anything!!!!! Did this last night while trying to get blades and such into place. I barely even touched the little blade. At first I thought "Oh good, didn't cut myself!" Then the bleeding started. OWWWW!!!!!! Sigh, I guess I just need to provide a blood sacrifice for every sharp bladed item in my kitchen if I am to please the kitchen gods. Then I had to add insult to injury. I went to scrub out my cast iron skillet and I use kosher salt to do so. OOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIGH!

Happy New Year everyone!

Had a lovely winter break, Yule was nice, Christmas was nice and New Years was nice. All very relaxing. Didn't get half of what I planned on getting done done, but I'm good with that. The house is still fairly in order, hubby got the Wii up and running so I am playing Wii ping pong for 15 minutes a day to get a bit more movement in. Laundry is pretty much all caught up, as are the dishes and I have a new kitchen toy (scored an Oxo V-slicer mandoline at Ross and been having fun slicing things. Not my fingers tho LOL). So all in all, a good vacation (tho I am currently missing sleeping in). The one not good spot of the week was when the stove tried to kill me. I was getting ready to prep a ham for the oven when the stove made some very loud popping sounds, sparked and threw up a bit of flame from the back panel. Hubby came into the kitchen when I called him and when I went to point out where it flamed, got zapped by the stove. Hubby immediately went to kill the main when
