Snow day!!!!

We have a bit more snow. EEEPPP!!!!! I'll get the pics posted later. The regular morning DJs couldn't make it in, so they had subs this morning. They figured it was easier to announce who WASN'T closed LOL. They finally announced the UI as I was getting dressed to go dig out the car, so I called work, they hadn't heard, So I continued on. Work called back a few minutes later to say they got the word, so the car is still buried. The Dean called a little later to say for sure they were closed. Listening to the scanner, it is batshit out there. We aren't going anywheres, esp since someone just said on the scanner that they had to back up on Mountain View before they could turn around at the highway. EEPPP!!!!!! Roads are getting closed all over the place. We now have two more kitties in the house. I caught the shadow kitten and brought him in, then I brought in the Scrapper clone. So far things have been calm, with the exception of Nicky hissing at first. But I think w

We have PLENTY of snow, more then we need, at least in my yard. I know you are trying to make up for lost time, when we haven't had any decent snow in the last few years, but not all at once! Please move all this snow up into the mountains where we need the snow pack for the water in the spring and everything will be a-okay. Thanks. Had to get out early to shovel around the car. Where I'd shoveled yesterday was almost all the way filled in. Luckily today it wasn't the wet heavy snow, so it wasn't TOOOO bad shoveling. With the wind we got some pretty cool looking drifts in the yard. We are also getting some pretty serious icicles, esp off the gutter where the downspout would be: The Scrapper clone was waiting for his breakfast again. Have to figure out how to keep fresh water out there without it freezing. Here are the promised pics: Here is a pic of Scrapper to compare: The clone has more white on his muzzle and he isn't as orange and as big, but in dim light and no

Okay, we got snow!

Just a bit: at home: Behind the Library: and on the east side of the Library: The county plowed first thing, so we were able to get out okay (rats!). Moscow School district closed, but the university is running fine. We'd popped out a bit yesterday, cut our errand running short as the weather was getting very icky. Got home in time to help out the neighbor who got stuck in snow. Thank goodness for tow straps. Borrowed a diatom filter to clean the fish tank. I never thought fish could pout. Poor George, his whole day got interrupted as we pulled all the tank furniture out to clean it. He was not a happy pleco. I also slightly changed the arraignment around slightly, but not so much to upset him even more. Tank looks so muc nicer now. We have to get us one of those filters. Been seeing more of the Scrapper clone. Got a couple of pics, have them on my 'puter at home so will have to wait until tonight to upload them. I need to put a pic of Scrapper and the clone together, so we can

WOW!

I've been blogging for 4 years now. My very first blog post when I decided to see what all the shouting was about and checked out the Bravenet Journal service. My 2nd post that day had a little more substance to it hehehehe

Finally sat down with the photo albums my mom sent with all sorts of pics and the USB flatbed scaner and decided to see what I could get. So here are some baby pics (okay, toddler pics): First fomral pic with my stuffed bunny Bun Bun (who I still have :D ): At Grandma and Grandpa's house: Baby in a box: I so wish I still had that blonde hair: Christmas in Kauai: I'll post more photos as I go along.

FRIDAY!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!

Poor hubby is still not feeling well, so I had to drive to work. Since I usually haul about a ton of stuff in the morning (okay, not quite a ton, but the bag with my laptop and all the rest of my gear can get quite heavy) I pulled into the parking lot behind the library long enough to off load (and ensured my tea didn't get cold) and then parked in the gold lot next to the law school. The hike back after work will be lighter as I won't have the two liters of water I usually bring in the morning. So I had about a half a cup of coffee this morning, I poured 3/4 of a cup, but when hubby announced he still wasn't feeling up to driving, I didn't get to finish. Tea today is chocolate hazelnut decafe, very yummy. Did my homework for class last night. Had to transcribe the following: peas [piz] peace [pis] though [θo] thin [θIn] sight [sayt] sighed [sayd] cantaloupe [kæntəlop(h)] ( the h is supposed to be slightly above the p to show the p is aspirat

A nice pic of stones, beads and sparklies: Now let's see what I can do with GIMP: Figured out how to do color cut out on pics using the tutorial on a GIMP wiki . This is going to be so much fun learning all I can do with GIMP.

I so hope it warms up soon

I am SOOOOO tired of being cold all the time. I am so not into being cold. Poor hubby isn't feeling good today, so I had to drive to work. I hate driving myself to work, I am so spoiled with door to door chauffeur service hehehehehehe. Besides, it is too cold to walk in from the parking lot. I couldn't find my gloves this morning, so my fingers froze just driving in. Had to get a day permit to park, got a gold one so I didn't have to park behind the Dome. Luckily my hat I got for hunting was handy and is lined. My head stayed warm, tho I thought my nose was going to fall off it was so frozen. Have I ever mentioned I really don't like cold? :D So it is lunch at home, good thing I've got leftovers from last night as by the time I walked to the car and drove home it is almost time to turn around and drive back. Had only 3/4 of a cup of coffee this morning, doing fine. Didn't bring in any tea, by the time I walked from the parking lot it would have gotten cold. Time

Day 1

Only one cup of coffee this morning, had slight pressure of incipient headache. LARGE mug of lemon blossom herbal tea for the rest of the morning.

Oh, FRELL!!!!

I think I am going to have to give up caffeine for a while. I've been getting daily headaches and the doc mentioned caffeine can trigger them, so we will see. I tried giving up coffee once before and that didn't work too well, I just need my morning caffeine so much. But I want these little headaches to stop, so I'll try eliminating caffeine to see what happens and then go from there (and if it is chocolate that is the culprit, someone please kill me, life without chocolate is NOT worth living :P ). Really nice article in the New York Times today, talking about some of the bloggers of the Fatosphere and feature some of my favorite blogs. Check it out. Big Fat Blog didn't make it, but according to one of the mentioned bloggers, not for lack of trying to contact Paul, the force behind BFB. OH WAY KEWL!!!!!!! Was just checking out BFB and he had a quick post that Kate Harding of Shapely Prose is going to be on the Today show tomorrow, will have the DVR set to record it.

YAWN!!!!!!

Talk about low energy weekend and it continues today. Have the day off, so am just puttering along. Trying to get as much laundry done today so any I have the rest of the week is pretty minimal. Did some dishes, trying to figure out what to do for dinner tonight. I have a roast in the fridge I can cut down and do something with half of it. Haven't done a whole heck of a lot, Sat night we went to a SCA-type event (not SCA, but a fairly similar group) and had a nice evening. Lots of good food and some very nice folk. Slept in yesterday and after puttering out and about a bit (had to hit Walmart for kitten chow) came home and went back to bed for a long nap. Haven't done much, can't figure out why I am so tired, tho I think it is the body's way of saying we've been doing too much during the week and not getting enough rest. Got a titrating CPAP for a few days to see if I need to adjust the pressure on mine. Sunny and cold today. Want the sunny, the cold can go away and

Took another one of my ice window photos and ran it thru the auto equalizer tool: Then I played with the settings on the alien map tool on another one: Hubby says the one I did yesterday would make a cool wallpaper, so I have it set on my work computer.

Hernia?!?!?! WHAT hernia??????

THAT'S a hernia??? Oh, okay, wish someone had mentioned it before. Seems I have a fairly large hernia on my upper tummy that no one has bothered to mention until now. I do like a doctor who not only LISTENS to me, but is observant. Best guess is I got it when I was taking aqua fitness and was doing crunches, before then my upper tummy was flat. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IS MY PREVIOUS DOCTORS HAD MENTIONED SOMETHING!!!!! GRRRRRRRR!!! I just thought is was extra compact tummy fat and didn't worry at all about it. The doc says it isn't critical and just to avoid lifting heavy objects and be careful. Yeah right, me be careful LOL. I'm the one who usually plunges right in and tries to do it all myself. Oh well, I guess this is a sign I need to start asking for more help when puttering around and building things and setting up my garden. Besides that little bombshell, the appointment went fine. My blood work came back, he is worried about my white blood count being low, then agai

What a day for my inner child with th matches to take a day off, I can use some hot flashes right about now to stay warm. Thermometer at home was reading 7F when I got up. Cool ice patterns on the inside of my kitchen window: Ran the one pic thru the auto white balance on GIMP and came up with this neat pic: Doctors appointment today, will get the results from my blood draw on Monday.

1 inch huh? Try 5!!!!

Interesting weather last night, what with the wind and snow. Hwy 195 south of Pullman got closed all night due to blowing snow and white out conditions. I am SOOOOO glad we have most of the deck closed in, no snow covering everything out there. Power went out for about 10 minutes at one point and then off and on several times. Really annoying as we were trying to watch a movie. We kept having hiccups during the night, or at least once as the coffee maker was blinking again when I got up, so I had to manually start the coffee. Before we went to bed, hubby popped out with the measuring tape and came in to say there was 3 inches on the hood of the car, here is what it looked like this morning: Took a bit to get going this morning as there was ice under all that snow that was a pain to get scrapped off. Had geese hunters out in the field again this morning, 3 of them with a flock of decoys. Hubby called the sheriff regarding them, THERE IS NO SAFE DIRECTION TO SHOOT OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

La freakin' BRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is cold inside, tho the thermometer is saying it is 68F. I'm freezing :P Lost two guppies, not sure why they died, but Ernie had been acting strange, then disappeared. Bert looked like he was doing fine, then he disappeared the other day. Found one floating yesterday and then the other one today. So Martin is the last guppy I have. Not sure if I will get more, maybe look at a couple females or three, tho I really don't into serious breeding of guppies, but Martin might get lonely being the only guppy, tho he does get along fine with the White Clouds and the Neons. We'll see, budget isn't running to new fish for a while. Wandered out and got my textbook for class, so I will start reading that this weekend. While we out we took in some recycling, figure if we take a bit in each time we head into town we will get a ahead of the pile. Been puttering around the house, hubby's been cleaning up the office, soon I can get in and put the boxes of Christmas decorations in the

MMMMMMMMMM, pizza!

Since we had company last night and I didn't feel like cooking, we picked up a Papa Murphy's Big Murphy stuffed pizza, so lunch today is leftovers. Watched movies last night, one being Vault of Horror from 1973. Nothing like classic waiting room horror tales. Hubby finally got my fire wire card in, so I downloaded my video camera and edited the lasagna video. It is now posted on YouTube and on my kitchen blog. I'll finish the other videos this weekend. Thank goodness YouTube has the alternative upload method, I hate having to split my vids into 100mg pieces to get them up and running. Finally got the tree down, will look at hauling it off to the recyclers soon. Same with all the recycling. Have to buy my book this weekend for class so I can start getting the readings done. Still not used to such a short class time. Hubby sent me a link to a movie we have GOT to see Black Sheep . I watched the trailer and the lyrics to Tom Smith's filk Sheep Marketing Ploy (the Ballad o

SNOW!!!!

Boy, did we get snow night before last: (Rum Tum in his element of course) Corner of South Main and Palouse River Drive: On campus outside the library:

School started today

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, I feel better now LOL Been a very busy day and taking a class that is only 50 minutes long is going to take some getting used to. The last three classes have been at least 2 1/2 hours long and this one the minute I am getting into it, the class is over. Ah well, at least I know several of the students and it looks to be a very interesting class (Language and Culture). As soon as class let out hubby picked me up and drove me to the student union building so I could go pay for it. I have a waiver that lets me take it for $35, at least the university hasn't screwed up that benefit. Just need to figure out how to work the text book into the budget this weekend and I am all set. The 2nd required book we have here in the library. Serious snow over night, I've

FOUND!!!

Image
The missing Itty Bitty Devil Ducky has been found. She survived her ordeal after being lost in the snow after the attack of the wild snow cat by remembering her training from Ducky Scouts. She was prepared with itty bitty itty bitty chocolates and knew how to build a snow cave to keep sheltered from the elements. Once the weather cleared and got better, she knew how to find her way closer to home where she was found by a search party and brought home. Snug as a bug in a rug awaiting a nice cup of hot cocoa.

WHHEEE HAAA!!!!!!

I got an A in my class last semester!!!!!! WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On to a more pleasant subject

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!! For a short week it has been long, working the two late shifts made it seem so, there isn't enough work to keep one occupied when you don't have access to one's work computer and there are next to no students most of the night. Lunch is cooling, a couple of toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. We'll have to make a trip to Costco soon, we are running low on cheese. Will consider the yellow cheese next. Currently reading Diane Mott Davidson's newest book "sweet Revenge", I really LOVE her mystery series with Goldy Schultz, who is a caterer. She always includes recipes for foods she makes in the books and has a recipe for a cheese pie that uses cheddar and Gruyer. Last book had a recipe for a gorgonzola dish I need to go back and copy out and next time we are at Costco, pick up what I need and give them a try. I do have to see if we have the rest of her books, I think I am missing a couple that are alluded to in the current book. Frederi

OOOOO! Someone thinks they can tell my health without actually knowing me!

Comment on my previous post from someone who refused to sign their comment, so consequently it is now deleted. Jist of the comment is they have decided that since I am a fat chick I MUST be unhealthy and will raise their insurance rates. They also claim to be a fellow UI employee, probably true, they posted thru Cactus Computers this morning and that is one of the local ISPs a lot of people use to avoid getting tied up on the university servers when the students come back. Not too mention trying to access thru the university from home is a royal pain in the butt, unless they fixed the access problems, we've had DSL at home for years, so I wouldn't know. A few things, I have mentioned many times before, I initially trashed my knee way back when I was young and immortal and thin. Vodka and water skis don't mix, the damage you do WILL come back to bite you on your ass in later life. If you've read any of my blog I have mentioned this on several occasions, usually after I d

Working late, luckily tonight is my last night. I worked until 10pm last night, almost went insane (what do you mean almost LOL) and managed to trash my knee getting up and down retrieving DVDs for people. Seems like every single request was on the &^%%$ shelves. Using my cane today. A lot quieter tonight then last night, last night was very busy the 1st couple of hours. Tonight isn't so bad. Hope I can keep my sanity for a few more hours yet. Posted a number of Devil Duckie photos on my Flickr account , including the Attack of the Wild Snow Kitty!!! One of my Itty Bitty Devil Duckies is currently MIA after the attack. I've a new post on my cooking blog, a recipe for Chocolate Zucchini Bread . It is totally YUMMO!!! Hehehehehe brought a loaf to work and people have been enjoying it. Still have one loaf of it at home. I have been enjoying the pasties for dinner last night and tonight. Still have a couple packages in the freezer, I'll try and not eat them until next week.
