Signing online petitions and pledges are a good start, but more action must be taken.

I have pinned this post so it doesn't move off. Will add new and other info as I come across it. Pledging to register as a Muslim if the government forces through a registry or signing online petitions protesting Planned Parenthood defunding is a good thing to show you stand with others, but that should only be the first step in the fight to protect our rights as US citizens and human beings. The next step to take is to find out who your representatives in Congress are and then start hammering them with phone calls, emails and actual physical letters on a daily basis. We NEED to have our voices heard and congress critters only pay attention to direct contact from their constituents. Here is a list of some sites that will help. VoteSpotters will show how your congress critter voted on something and you can let them know what you think of their vote via email or calling. Countable shows all the up coming issues and bills. Again you can email or call. The 65 has sample scripts t

Future plans

So I have decided that I WILL retire in 4 years. Things are working out such that I actually may be able to. I'd figured I would never be able to as I have hubby to consider when it comes to health insurance. This year's garden is coming along, tho it looks like I will need to restart my sweet peppers. They haven'

Spring has definitely sprung

Especially if you consider the weather we had on Sunday. Rain, snow, sleet, hail, grapple, and sunshine all in the space of an hour or two. So glad I got my gutters for my salad greens installed on Saturday before the weather hit: Planted an Italian salad blend, mesclun blend and spinach. Bit later in the spring I will make some short gutter planters to go on either side of my greens so I can get my kitchen herbs going. When my tomatoes and peppers are ready to go outside I will put the planters under the greens. But before that I will be taking the pickets off the bottom of the deck. I will replace them with the white plastic trellis I salvaged from our old place. I will also go in underneath with some garden fabric to lay down in hopes I can kill off some of the thistle that insists on growing under there. Haven't decided if I am going to go nuclear on them, since the kitties hang out under there and last thing I wants is them getting poisoned. Hoping the fabric and mayb
