Women's March on the Palouse

Image
It was a wonderful day yesterday for the Women's March. The sun came out and there were approximately 2600 people from the Palouse at the march. I am a wreck today, tho I didn't march. The romping thru the snow and across the ice (even with Yaktrax I HIGHLY recommend them or similarproducts if you have to deal with ice on a regular basis). I foresee a serious soak in the tub today. Here is a link to some of the over 1000 photos I took yesterday:

Got up this morning to -4F temps and sunshine. TO COLD!!! But pretty: Going to be fun when the snow melts from the snow the plow piled up on the end of the lawn.

Cutting the cord

This last month we ditched our satellite dish. So no cable, no satellite. I don't really miss it at all. Granted I do miss my Expedition Unknowns and watching the guys from American Pickers find hidden gems in junk. But when we figured out how much we were paying for so few shows, the cord got snipped. I did go thru a week of withdrawal tho, I so miss my Mark Peterson in the mornings, along with the rest of the gang on Good Morning Northwest on KXLY. But I follow them on Twitter and Facebook, watch when they live stream in the morning (a bit more on that in a minute) when they have one and catch a lot of the stories they broadcast on their website later. Same with the other Spokane news stations. So instead we have a Roku that lets us stream Acorn TV , Netflix and Amazon. Also can watch YouTube and listen to Pandora. There are a ton of free channels, you do get commercials (and in some cases the same 3 commercials, over and over and over and over and over.....) but we'v

A pain in the ass, literally!

Finally get in to see my doctor yesterday about the BP meds he put me on and to find out the results of the x-ray on my tailbone. My BP is back down to normal for me, I really think the rise in numbers is from the accident. Body is still stressed. Unfortunately a cough I picked up seems to be caused by the meds, so he is switching me to a different medication. No cracks or breaks in my tailbone. It is however riddled with arthritis. SIGH!!!!!! So now I've got an arthritic butt, tail bone at least. Apparently trauma such as a car being driven over a bone like that can trigger arthritis, so I have to live with it. Definitely will be doubling down on anti-inflammatories such as turmeric and sweet potatoes. My turmeric should be about ready to harvest so I can get more tincture going and a couple more roots planted to grow for the next year. Snowing again. Still snowing. At least the temps are warmer for a couple days. Should have a couple days of no snow, then snow again. I am

Almost called in spa today

Hehehehehe! Hit the spa after the pool for 5 minutes or so and the water temp was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO perfect I really didn't want to get out. Would have loved to soak for an hour or so more. Was actually warm outside when I got up this morning, a whole 12F! Today is about the last day of the really cold. Temps are going up to the 20s and 30s, but that also means more snow on the way. Luckily I have a well stocked pantry and freezer, so we are good for warm hearty meals. In fact, I have a slow cooker of chili simmering away today. I browned the burger last night and then set it aside while I sauteed the onion, red bell peppers, a generous amount of garlic, some green chilies, chili powder, and cumin. Oh the house smelled yummy last night. Hubby was wondering about chili for dinner last night, but since the beans hadn't been soaked I told him he had to wait. Got the beans soaked overnight (red kidney and pinto beans) and tossed everything into the slow cooker this mornin

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serious snow and creative neighbors

Image
This last week we noticed some neighbors down the hill were out in the snow building something igloo shaped, tho tall. Yesterday on the way home we had to stop and get pictures as they were out enjoying their snow cave: Decorated with beer bottles, they had a nice fire going: If you wanted to get out of the night they had a nice place to sit inside: The best place to be is in the entrance. You get the heat from the fire and the heat reflecting back from inside. It was so nice! If I were 20 some odd years younger I would probably build one in our yard. But alas, me doing serious stuff in the snow is not to be. Tho if I were to have several energetic young people who volunteered to build stuff out of the snow in our yard, I would be more than happy to be supervisor and provided hot beverages and lots of cookies LOL!
