Monday, sunny, cold Monday

But at least the sun is shining, so that is a plus. Really didn't want to get out of bed today, was too nice and cozy in the warm, soft, fuzzy sheets LOL! Mostly puttered this weekend. I made more mini greenhouses out of soda bottles, so I have quite a few seeds started for several types of tomatoes, green peppers and eggplants: I made one out of a milk jug and that is seeded with an Italian salad blend: That one will have to be moved when they sprout, a little too close to the kitty dishes and I am not sharing my salad greens with them, they can go out and find their own LOL! But until then they are protected. Have to see about starting a second one in a few weeks so I can go back and forth between the two with cutting what I need from one and then the other to let each one have a chance to grow back. My herbs are coming along quite nicely. Looking forward to seriously fresh herbs for cooking. Kitties are doing fine, had the door open for a bit yesterday and they went

WOO HO!!!!!! FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

Wish the weather was nicer, back to being chilly and gray. Oh well, it is February after all, so to be expected. Sunday is the BIG day! The Daytona 500 and NASCAR season officially starts. Looking forward to being able to watch most of it, even if the later half is on NBC. Hopefully they have learned their lesson about pulling BS stunts and have finally figured out how to properly broadcast a race. I just wish both networks didn't switch some of the races to upper tier channels we don't get since we are on basic. Oh well, I can at least watch the highlights on the web the next day. Think I may finally found the right gluten free flour blend for making gravy. The Namaste Perfect Flour Blend seems to do it right. The mouth feel we have been missing since eliminating wheat flour is back. Made biscuits and gravy Wednesday night for dinner and NOM!!!!!!! Perfect. Have to see how well it works for cookies. The drop biscuits I made with it were the perfect pairing for the sausage

Spring has sprung, at least for now

Actually had the front door open for a while this last weekend, it was that nice out. Not as warm as I would have liked, but the sun was out and having fresh air coming in was wonderful. My little herb garden is coming along nicely: Need to get some updated pics, the cilantro is coming on like crazy and I will have to start taking the top of the little greenhouse it is in during the day. It will be so nice to have fresh herbs to cook with. Tried cooking brown rice in the slow cooker. After a bobble or two I think I have it down, so will be switching over to brown rice instead of white for just about everything. Luckily Winco sells basmati brown rice in bulk so I will have a couple different kinds to cook with. Have to see if jasmine rice comes in brown also. I will be making up big batches in the slow cooker to stash in the freezer. Having already cooked rice on hand for fried rice will be nice. Processed 20 lbs of hamburger this last weekend. Baked about 5 lbs for pre-cooked
