Blessed Winter Solstice and Merry Yule!

Image
A nice day today, I only have to work a half day and then I am off for the holidays. Having friends over for a "The Mayans were right, the world as we know it is ending, my hubby is turning 50" party LOL! I've elk and black bean chili in the slow cooker, made up a bit batch of GF puffs, some of which I will stuff with turkey salad. Will look at making some GF tartlets and cookies at some point today. Tomorrow we will celebrate Yule, so some of the goodies I made for tonight will go for that. We'll be getting together with friends on the 25th, so that will be the extent of our socializing for the year. Weather is holding, most of the serious snow is well to the north of us, so I am happy. It can snow all it wants next week, just want to get thru this weekend with mild weather. Still puttering along with my jewelry.Getting more traffic thru my Etsy shop . Haven't made my first sale there as yet. I will be working on more jewelry over the break. I've star

HAARUMPH!!!!!

As windy as it was this morning I was fully expecting to wake up in Oz. Nope. Still same old, same old Palouse. Bummer, I would love to spend some time in Oz for a vacation. Ah well, I have a week off coming up. Fairly quiet weekend, got more straightening up done, so will be ready to entertain on Friday. Watched a few movies and that was nice. All in all, a fairly kicked back and relaxed weekend and should be the same for the week.

Lovely weather this morning

A bit of snow and ice on the car this morning: And a bit of fog: Driving was fun, so glad I have a chauffeur LOL! Visibility wasn't great and it is amazing the number of idiots out there driving without their lights on. Listening to Christmas music on Slacker today, Pandora is having issues and won't play steadily. If I am lucky I might get 3 songs played before it hangs up. Had a fairly low key weekend. The major chore was laundry. Did get more of the kitchen cleaned up and caught another mouse, this one in the kitchen towel drawer (hence LOTS of towels washed this weekend). I am hoping we finally got the last one. Didn't get any baking in, tho I should be able to whip out a batch of cookies tonight for the party tomorrow. Hubby figured out an easy way for me to deconstruct motherboards. Involves a mini blow torch BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Of course we discovered the hard way I will have to do so outside. It is too cold out to have to leave the windows and doors o

Ticking along

Almost Friday and Dead Week here at the U is almost over, next week is finals and then the holidays. A slightly long week, but not too bad. Gave blood yesterday. I'd tried last week, but my iron levels were just under the minimum (very surprising since they are always on the high side). Got them back up to just above minimum and I got vampired. Fairly relaxing last weekend, tho hubby and I went into cleaning mode on Saturday and got most of the house in order. Just a few spots here and there, but I will be ready for the "My hubby turns 50 on 12/21/12 so the Mayans were right and the world is going to end" party on the 21st. Been a while since we did any real entertaining so it should be fun. Just need to start laying in some supplies and finish the kitchen. Went down to Lewiston/Clarkston late enough on Saturday for some shopping to catch the Christmas Parade in Clarkston and then look at the light display at Railroad park in Lewiston (tho I stayed in the car as it
