Mmmmmmmmmm!

Have had a very nice weekend. Friday was a day off and I am off this week. Woke up Saturday morning after sleeping in and stumbled out for coffee. Eventually made some gluten free blueberry muffins from a recipe I found on Suite 101. I left out the flax meal as I didn't get any. They were delish and hubby loved them. I'd fried up a mess o'bacon to go with them and pulled the Irish butter out of the freezer: Watched A Christmas Carol and A Christmas Story and then opened prezzies and then off to a friends for dinner and the evening. A very nice time. Sunday was another day to sleep in. I put a pork roast in the crock pot to cook and some pinto beans onto soak. Plans for those will be tamales later in the week once I pick up some parchment paper to steam them in (I'll be skipping the corn husks). Today is a putter about the house day and enjoy my Christmas lights. We scored more LED lights at Shopko, so next year will be serious lightage. I even have a string

Coolness!

Was checking my mail this morning and had a note from Zazzle that I sold a couple sheets of these: Ban Fat Phobia by JeanC_PurpleDucky Create a sticker on zazzle.com They are on their way to Australia! Purple Ducky Designs is truly world wide! The last few months I've had a number of sales to Britain and Europe. Sales have been steadily growing, so I am a very happy camper. Been slowly adding in more items as Zazzle brings them out. The most recent has been ornaments and necklaces and the other day they introduced premium key chains as an option for the key chains they sell. I'll be working on more photos and designs over the Christmas break, so I should have a lot more items going up on my shop just after the New Year.

Isn't she adorable!

A friend gave me this totally cute fat fairy for Yule. I have her hanging on the book case next to my chair at home:

Ready for the holidays

Ook is getting into the holiday spirit! Finally broke out the decorations this weekend, had to excavate the office so I could get to the closet. I've some lights and garland up. Still need to do a little more (I've only 2 strands of lights up, still have at least 3 more to put up). Got prezzies shipped off to my mom's on Saturday. Post Office should be delivering them tomorrow, so that is done for the year. Celebrated Yule on Saturday and then later went to a friend's party to visit for a while and then home to crash. Just can't do the party rounds like we used to LOL! Sunday was excavate the office and decorate. Had some friends over Sunday night to watch movies. Introduced them to William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick & Nora with the Thin Man movie. Very enjoyable. They want to see the rest of the series, so we'll be having more movie nights.

Yum!

Today was the library Christmas Party, so I broke out a gluten free cake mix. We'd also bought a box of GF cookie mix so we could have peanut butter cookies for dessert last night. I started with the cake from Namaste since it would need to cool so I could frost it. Mixed it in my Kitchenaid with water, 3 eggs and veggie oil and into a baking dish it went Baked for 35 minutes and out of the oven it came: It smelled heavenly and I was hard pressed not to dig in right then and there. I made a glaze of milk, powered sugar and some of the candy I'd tried making the other day with was mostly powered sugar, coconut and cocoa. Made a very nice glaze which I poured over the cooling cake after poking a few holes with a fork It was a hit at the party with the other gluten free folk and quite a few people who aren't. Very tasty and moist and rich. Have to see about other cake mixes they might have. A plus is that the company is out of Coeur d'Alene ID, so it is pr

We currently have a friend from Portland visiting and she made tamales for dinner Friday night: I had some chickpeas on hand, so she cut up some tomatoes, mixed them with the chickpeas and some herbs and stuffed the tamales with the mixture. We steamed them in my bamboo steamers over a pot of water and enjoyed. The above is my lunch, I topped them with avocado and some marinara sauce I'd made for spaghetti dinner last night.

MMMMMMMM, sweet electricity

Looks like we are back up and running. The electrician was back yesterday, I guess the box/panel he put in had to go in a certain way and I don't think it was the way he'd put it in the first time. But we now have a new breaker box and everything is humming along fine. Just have to put the dryer back together and we are all set. I am really not looking forward to what the bill is going to come to. The electrician works on the commercial end of things, home repairs aren't his thing, so wasn't sure how much everything was going to cost. I am hoping that him coming back the 2nd day isn't going to be added to the bill. Have a bit of clean up to deal with, nothing too bad. Need to seal the hole in the door where the extension cord was run thru. We've a friend coming to visit this weekend, looking forward to a relaxing couple of days visiting.

The saga continues (hopefully for not much longer)

The one electrical company got back with hubby with a quote and an estimated time of 3 days. And reluctance to work out a payment plan. Not acceptable. So hubby called another company who couldn't get anyone out until this morning. So we settled in for the night. Our neighbor pointed out that there was a power outlet on the pole with our meter, so the hubby ran an extension cord in thru the back door so we could at least have phone, internet and some light in the living room on a power bar. I then ran an extension cord from the power bar and plugged in the fridge and deep freeze. We had a battery powered radio, the dragon for heat and oil lamp to put in the kitchen. I had the butane burner to cook and heat water on. We had running water, lots of blankets on the bed and good thermies to change into and wear under clothes. We'd picked up hubby a sub sandwich for his dinner and I cooked brown rice spaghetti with blue cheese and a 3 cheese blend for me: Very yummy. I&

Have I mentioned how much I really hate Mondays?

My Morning: Long story short, the breaker box in our place shorted and we are currently without power. The fire department said calling them first thing was a good thing, even if there were no flames. They made sure it was okay. The breaker box was 140F at one point it had gotten that hot. Now we are just waiting to get the quote from the electrician as to how much it is going to cost to have a new breaker box installed (and fingers crossed that only a little part needs to be replaced and not the whole thing). I am just wishing it was the dryer that had puked like we thought last night. That would have been a cheaper fix. SIGH!!!!!!!

Still snow

Tho thankfully is is not as cold as it had been over Thanksgiving week. Quite pretty out this morning: Scrapper wasn't a terribly happy kitty: He doesn't like having cold paws. The switch over to gluten free is pacing along. I could seriously kill for a sandwich tho. I need to either find someplace that sells GF sandwich bread, with luck Udi's , which comes highly recommended, or find a good recipe and make my own. In the meantime I will look at a package of the Bob's I used for the stuffing and try it using the non-bread maker instructions. Still need to make a foray into the Co-op to see what they have on offer. Planning on hauling out the decorations this weekend and decorate the living room for Yule. Still need to see about getting a tree and then figuring out where the heck I am going to put it. Hmmmm, just had an idea and I need to make sure I don't get a tree taller then 5 ft. Got the Tig in this morning for breakfast. Couldn't get him in la

Started making sure Tigger came in (usually have to go grab him outside and bring him in) during the recent icky weather. He's still not terribly happy about being stuck inside all night, but he isn't too unhappy to be warm and comfy.
