Almost the weekend.

Image
And a long weekend at that with my Friday off and Memorial Day on Monday. My mom and aunt will be down on Monday, they arrived in Spokane yesterday and will be puttering about up there. The hubby and I were thinking about camping this weekend, but it looks like it is going to be too cold and wet for tent camping, so we'll hang about the house and I have to see about getting it in order for company. Did tempura'd sweet onions and 'shrooms on Tuesday. Also did some cut up steak, tho I think next time I will use a lighter meat, like chicken. Steak needs a heavier batter then rice flour (still yummy tho). Was able to get a couple REALLY nice pics out of that cooking session and will be using them in my shop . I'm going to try and use my Fridays off to work on more designs and get those up. Been doing steady sales, sold a poster of my chocolate zucchini bread that will be winging its way to Switzerland in the next couple of days. Speaking of photographs, found a photo grou

Started my Friday's off for the summer this last Friday. Planned on sleeping in on Friday, but hubby got up about 8am, so I ended up up also. Did a bit of puttering about, working on getting the living room into order. Got quite a bit done, then took a nap. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! Nap!!!!!!!!!!!! Drove down to Lewiston for dinner. Turns out the Timber Creek Grill Buffet took over the old Home Town Buffet place. We'd been to the Spokane Timber Creek last year and quite liked it. The one is Lewiston is smaller, not as big a selection. It was seafood night, breaded fried scallops (they weren't too bad), fried clams, calamari, clam chowder. No shrimp or crab legs, which was a disappointment. They did have steak, got a piece that was perfectly rare and quite tasty. Also a nice bit of fried catfish. For dessert I got a couple pieces of fudge and some hot fudge cake. The hot fudge cake was seriously rich and I couldn't finish it. Hubby had a couple bites of mine and he couldn&

30 YEARS?!?!?!?! Whoa!

30 years today I was in Spokane at my grandparents waiting to fly home to California the next day. I had just gotten out of school and was looking forward to a nice summer. Mid-afternoon we saw the across the street neighbor and his family scurrying to put blankets and tarps over thir cars. I wandered over to find out what was up and they said Mount St Helens had blown and the ash cloud was on its way. They didn't know if the ash would be detrimental to auto paint, so they were covering up the cars. I popped back, told the grandparents and they turned on the TV to hear the emergency broadcast signal sounding. I grabbed blankets and covered up their car just in case and we sat back to watch the dark clouds roll over Spokane. It was very eerie when the ash cloud arrived, it got very dark and then the ash started to fall. I still have a bottle of the first ash fall floating around the house somewhere. I collected a big bag full to take with me to California. At one point I ventured o

We are getting WAY to old for tent camping. Not too mention we weren't ready for it in May :P Good thing we only went out for one night, we'd have come back in on Saturday if we'd gone for two nights. Got everything pretty well ready on Friday night, had the neighbor help me move the boat around front, got the car mostly packed, did laundry and checked all the gear. Slept in on Saturday, got up, had coffee, finished getting ready and got up to Moose Creek a bit after noon. Found our friends and took the spot across the road from them. Set up the tent and then fixed lunch. Visited with our friends for a bit lakeside as the boys were out in the kayak, then found the boat launch (such as it was), registered our spot ($10 for the night), put the boat in and hubby took the boat across while I took the car and trailer back and parked it. Met hubby and I took over the boat and we headed out. Hubby gets cranky when I drive the boat. We don't know why, it happened a number of ye

Went camping Saturday

Details and pics later. Suffice to say, we are getting too damned old for tent camping. I want a trailer!!!!!!

WEEEE HAAAAWWWW!!!!!

FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

Tried to donate blood again today

Got deferred again thanks to a fast pulse, even tho I gave them the note from my doc saying that there is no problem. So now I wait for them to give the note from my doc to their doc and have him call me so I can tell him my pulse is fast because I am terrified of needles. Giving blood shouldn't be this damned difficult! I can tell you that my pulse rate when I first donated way back when would have been a LOT higher then it was today. Heck, I was in and out in less then 10 minutes once they hooked me up. The guy who had gone in before me was still there when I filled my first pint and left. &^%*$ ^&%^#( ^&(#(@&%^^*%(#$! Hopefully the doc will call, I'll get cleared and then I won't have to keep dealing with this and I can donate again.

International No Diet Day - May 6, 2010

Take the Pledge! I Pledge: * That I will not diet for one day, on May 6, International No Diet Day . * Instead of trying to change my body to fit someone else's standards, I will accept myself just as I am. * I will feed myself if I'm hungry. * I will feel no shame or guilt about my size or about eating. * I will think about whether dieting has improved my health and well-being or not. * And I will try to do at least one thing I have been putting off "until I lose weight." Okay, about our trip

As mentioned, we took off for Vancouver WA on Friday so hubby could work on a computer net work. We'd originally planned on a really early start and decided the heck with that, set the alarm for 6am and we were on the road by 8am. Hit Lewiston to top off the gas tank, grab a quickie breakfast at Jack's and get the tires checked (good thing, one of them was WAY off). Picked up Hwy 12 in Clarkston and we weer off (and traveling too LOL!). Day was cloudy and very breezy, rained a bit But started clearing up by the time we hit the Columbia I'd made sandwiches the night before and we'd packed some chips and iced tea, so we didn't need to stop for anything other then bathroom and stretching legs breaks. Did stop in Briggs and saw this gull on the light pole We got to Portland early enough we thought to hit Fry's as hubby had forgotten the power cable to his laptop. Managed to take the wrong exit and ended up somewhere near downtown Portland. By the time we found a pl

Okay, took off last Friday and this last Monday to take a quick trip to Vancouver WA as hubby had a client (some friends of ours) who had some serious computer issues. So we arranged to stay with my mom and we drove out. Had a good time, will write up more on it later. I have a TON of pics I need to sort thru and process, but here is some of the lunch I had at the Ship Inn in Astoria on Sunday: Potato soup with cheddar Fish and chips with cod: Serious yummage!
