Goodby 2009, Hello 2010

BTW, it ISN'T the end of the decade, that won't happen until we get to the end of 2010, when the new decade starts in 2011. The media has a problem realising things like that, just like the new millennium didn't start until 2001. But it is still a good time to party LOL. We'll be going to a friend's for the evening, not only for New Year's, but a blue moon. It will be a very nice evening. Still have to figure out what I will be taking food-wise. It's been a very nice week off, I've been puttering a bit, but also getting a LOT of rest. I think I am finally over the crud, tho the cough comes and goes, usually as soon as I go to bed. Weather has definitely warmed up, our thermometer is currently reading 34F outside. We have a little bit of new snow, but not as much as they had been predicting, which is fine by me since I don't want a repeat of the last couple winters LOL.

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day, regardless of whichever holiday you celebrate, they are all wonderful :) May the rest of your holiday season be filled with good friends, family and yummy food.

Happy Solstice!!!!!

I'm alive again, I hope. I am actually feeling human again and yesterday I got hungry. Most of the time while I was sick I really didn't want to eat, tho I managed some comfort food like mac & cheese in the blue box and spaghetti with cheese from the green can. When I start to starve I know I am finally better. An overcooked bean and red chili burrito from the Safeway Deli is absolute ambrosia! So I am back to work today, a dark and very gloomy day out. It is currently raining and holiday tunes on internet radio are really brightening things up, but if I hear that abominable hip hop version of "Do you hear what I hear" again, I will go up to the station in Spokane and destroy it. Of course I did hear something worse, hubby turned on Christmas music for me on Dish Sirius a couple days ago and they started playing some horrendous crap from the Jonas Brothers that had both of us diving for the remote. Switched to Traditional Christmas on their 40s channel and it was

AUUUGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! whimper

The good news is the aches had gone away, I managed to get to work on Wednesday. Bad news is, I keep spiking a temp and I'm off work again today. WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby is out and about, he'll pick up more OJ and lemon-lime soda and bring me some mac and cheese in the blue box. I am in serious need of comfort food. I like Malto-meal, but it just doesn't do it as well as mac and cheese in the blue box. Getting ready to watch Dexter , we have it on instant play on Netflix. We got Colour of Magic and Hogfather on disc, we watched the first part of Colour of Magic last night, we'll watch the rest and Hogfather later. Nothing like a bit of Terry Pratchett to cheer one up (esp after a Dexter marathon LOL). At least the weather is not bad, last year this time we were several feet in snow. Rain I can handle.

Me and my faux snuggie

Image
Picked up a knock-off snuggie at Rite Aid on Saturday, they had them for $8 as opposed to the $14 for the real thing. So I had to get the zebra stripped one, I now match the throw pillows on the couch LOL. So, currently home sick, Guess who pick up a bit of the flu :P Friday night I ended up going to bed wearing woolly socks, sweats and a fleece shirt with the electric blanket on high. My temps have been up and down all weekend. Thanks to the snuggie I've been fairly comfy on the couch, tho the couch could be more comfortable. Thank goodness for hot toddies with whiskey or White Christmas, the couch may be uncomfy, but I don't care LOL. Rum Tum is a VERY happy kitten, it's been snowing quite a bit and he's been in and out playing. Got my results from last week's blood draw this morning, everything is doing good, so just need to check in again in 3 months. Do need to up my calcium intake, it was a bit low. I take supplements since I don't do a lot of milk, have t

Friday Christmas giggle

This came via email from a friend whose name and location will remain unidentified to protect the guilty. This was done by a friend of his who I don't know and my friend isn't talking, so the guilty are most definitely protected: The story: “Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down. First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by. Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

Day 2 of the cold weather and I am wearing gloves at work

BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! A wee bit chilly in the building today. Got a long sleeved sweater on, a fleece vest and gloves and I am still cold :P Have to find my nice wool gloves, they are warm, but thin enough to make typing easier. So got the south windows sealed up as best as possible, there are at least three layers of cloth over them, along with plastic or the inserts. Thank goodness for the full spectrum florescent bulbs or else I would get suicidal with no daylight coming into the living room. The pork roast came out nicely, once it was finally done. It was still a bit frozen when it went in the oven and took forever to cook. I may have to do a temp check on the oven since it should have cooked faster then it did. Since I had a fasting blood draw this morning dinner for me ended up being a couple nuked ham and cheese hot pocket thingies since the roast wasn't going to be done until well after 8pm. So hubby got some nice roast pork sandwiches last night for dinner. I'll g

There is something seriously wrong if the curtains are blowing in the wind and the window is closed and sealed up :P

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Currently 20F with a wind chill of 2F and the temps are supposed to get colder today. The wind is fierce, popped out to get something from the car, had to retrieve the plywood lid for the utility trailer as it made a run for it. By the time I replaced it and strapped it down and got the stuff out of the car my fingers were froze. Supposed to get even colder the next few days. Need to finish duct taping around that insert in the window and put up a heavier curtain, it is the window right behind the fish tank, so we REALLY don't want cold leaking in there. I do have some reflectix on the tank facing the window, but that only can go so far in keeping the heater in the tank from over working. Been puttering around a bit, got some dishes done yesterday and some of the living room picked up. Did bring in the heat dragon from the shed. Need to finish cleaning it up with the shop vac (got a bit of dust and such from being in th

So cold the fog is crystallizing and falling. Looking bright and cheery here at work, lights and decorations have been going up the last couple of days and the tree in the break room is decorated. Have to start looking at putting up decorations at home. I do have one string of LED lights that never got taken down in the living room, so I hauled out an extension cord and plug them back in the other day. Going to get some serious cleaning done this weekend so I can haul out the boxes of stuff and then the annual problem of where am I going to put a tree. Got a bit creative with dinner last night. We scored some boneless chicken breasts at Safeway for $1.99 a pound. So I took one package and butterflied the breasts and then flattened them. I seasoned them with Italian seasoning, sprinkled on some 10 year old balsamic vinegar and topped it all off with cream of mushroom soup, not liquid added. Baked and served on some yummy sesame seed kaiser rolls from Safeway (I LOVE their bakery) for a
