OUCH!!!!

Got my extra squishing done this morning. I also got to see the scan that caused the concern. There is a spot that apparently is much larger then it had been. Hence the super squishing and the ultra sound. The ultra sound was neat, helps the gel was warm, so I didn't levitate off the gurney. I also got to watch the screen while she was doing it, way kewl!! Almost fell asleep tho, I was so comfortable and the room was darkened and I didn't have enough coffee or sleep (tho we got to bed early, strange). Picked up a deer tag, finally talked to the friend who can take me out. He explained the tag confusion, the regular tag is for both mule deer and white tail, but the season is shorter. Since there aren't that many mule deer and the season is over on Sat, I went for the white tail tag. The season lasts until Dec 1, so that gives me time to get out when we can. If I do get one, we'll look at professional processing, tho I am half inclined of doing it myself, but I probably s

Saturday ramblings

Survived the field trip, I'll get my pics and vid up later. Driving went fine, tho the Suburban was rather gutless, at least until it finally kicked in the overdrive after practically standing on the pedal. My passengers slept both ways, so apparently my driving wasn't too bad LOL. Hubby picked me up and we popped out to Palouse to pick up two very nice kerosene heaters and 5 gallons of kero off of freecycle. We should be very toasty warm this winter with heaters to loan out in cases of emergency power outages. Then it was home for a long soak in the tub and a nap. I didn't sleep well the night before, was up at 2 am for warm milk to help get back to sleep. Stayed warm enough on the field trip, tho getting up to 19F temps yesterday morning almost made me crawl back to bed. I'm turning the electric blanket on to stay warm. We popped out to Winco to pick up some stuff to make dim dum. Also picked up some bok choy. Going to do stir fry bok choi with onions and ginger tomor

ICK!

Got one of "THOSE" letters from the women's imaging center saying I needed to come in for a magnification mammogram and a ultrasound. EEEPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, calmed down now, appointment made for first thing Monday morning and lots of good advice and energy from my friends on several lists. Not too mention hubby having talked to HIS doc about it and she said they are very anal retentive over there and will call for follow up tests just in case over any minor thing. Okay, I'm breathing again and figuring it probably was a shaddow that decided my scans would be a good place to show up on and watch the fun that ensues. SAVE THE BOOBIES!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehehehe

Ponderings

A post over on The-F-word.org about a pending class action lawsuit of Heidi Kimberly Diaz, the founder of the Kimkin Diet made me think about a book I just finished. The book is Starvation Heights by Gregg Olsen . The story is real life, about two wealthy British women who fell under the spell of a woman promising good health and happiness thru her "fasting cure". The details of what these two women went thru are horrific, yet the entire time, they believed in what this "doctor" was telling them. One sister died, the other was thankfully rescued from further harm by their childhood nanny. What has it to do with the lawsuit? Well, from some of the things I've read thru the links at The-F-Word were how people are falling under the spell of someone who is promising big promises if you follow their "plan". In the case of Kimkin, she promises health, happiness and thinness if you pay your money and believe in her, even tho she has been proven a fraud. Th

Ahhhhh, Hump Day

Decided to lead off today's post with a pic of Rum Tum looking incredibly cute: He keeps this up he may dethrone Nicky as the World's Cutest Kitty. So sunny and warm today, so not October weather. Glad tho, I'm not up for wet, rainy and gloomy. Supposed to be nice on Friday, good thing since that is the water potato field trip up to Plummer (Hayburn State Park to be exact) and I'M DRIVING!!! Hehehehehe, everyone OFF the roads BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Actually, it shouldn't be too bad, I've ridden in the Suburbans twice now and they are very nice vehicles, just a wee bit bigger then I am used to. Keep forgetting to check and see if they have cruise control tho. I love cruise control, cruise control in my friend hehehehehehehe. Finished off the roast beast last night, oh it was so good. We did sandwiches. Picked up some 8 grain bread and hubby had his with that. Mixed some horseradish with some mayo for his and then he sprinkled on some of the Tillamook shredded medium ch

Here are some photos of my set up so far. Rain barrel: How much water we got the first day: Still need to put in a downspout pipe: Gutter:

Oooo, sunshine!

Supposed to be sunny today, will be nice. Cold in the building tho, they still have the cold air running and I am currently bundled up in my coat. Giving serious consideration of bringing in my winter gloves to wear. Weekend was a bit too fast. Going hunting didn't pan out, bummer. Maybe some other time. So spent the weekend shopping and puttering about. Saturday we went to Lewiston to gas up the car and hit Costco. Also hit the cash and carry, scored 50 lbs of potatoes for less the $7. So I have some serious potato processing to do the next week so I can have side dishes in the freezer. Another reason I love living in this area. I'd left my purse in the cart at Costco in the parking lot. I discovered this when we got out of the next store we'd gone to. Raced back to Costco and lo and behold, someone had turned in my purse. With everything still in its place. I do love living here. Had a very nice Sunday dinner, description and food porn here . Needless to say, we'll be

OOOOOOOO!

Whew! Survived!!!!!

It's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed, there is an outside chance I may get to go hunting this weekend. We have someone who might be able to take me out when he and his wife go, so I would have someone to show me the ropes. Haven't heard as yet (we'd talked to the wife last night and she thought it might be a possibility). So we'll see. Was reading the regs from Fish and Game, I am confused on the tag thing tho. They say there is a regular deer tag and a white tail deer only tag. Not sure exactly what is what. If you get the white tail only tag you can only shoot white tails? Makes sense, but what is the regular deer tag? There are two kinds of deer in Idaho, Mule deer and White tail. So is the regular tag good for both, or only mule deer. If so, why don't they call it a mule deer tag. I am so confused. Have to check if and when I go in to get a tag. I survived the squishing this morning. It was in and out with very little bother. Still think they should hand out Go

It's a sign....

I think someone is trying to tell me I really, really need to get one of these . I forgot to put the carafe back in the coffee maker again last night. I'm not sure where all the water went, there wasn't that big a puddle on the floor like there usually is. Co-worker suggested a kitty may have lapped it up. Since Nicky isn't into coffee, that would have left Phoebe since the other two were outside all night. Just what I would need, a kitten hopped up on caffeine. I doubt it tho, so it had to have gone somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if some of it when down the heating vent. Oh well, managed to clean up what mess there was and get a new pot going. Haven't seen any reviews for the new brew station, just some from a couple years ago for the original one. We'll see. Started coughing this morning, which is actually an improvement on the burning feeling in my throat and chest. The coughing helped clear out my lungs a bit, so hopefully I won't segue into bronchit

Well!

My blood results were not as I expected. In fact, they are dead on what they were when I had them last done, when I was still on the methimazole. So I'm not hypo, but something else is going on, so need to figure it out. I'll go back on the half dose of meth just as a maintenance dose since that was doing okay for my blood levels. I go back in January for a follow-up and a wellness exam (since I am overdue on the exam part). I go into Gritman's imaging center on Friday to get squished since I am definitely overdue on that procedure. I hate getting squished. Getting a flower afterwards isn't enough, the least they can do is give boxes of Godiva chocolate as a reward for getting squished LOL. Gotta find out what paperwork is needed to get a titrating CPAP from Norco to see if my levels need to be changed. One is supposed to have that done every year or two, I haven't had it checked since I got the machine. Had all 4 kitties in the house last night. It was raining to b

The theory is good

Now to see if it hold up in real life, my gutters on the porch roof that is. It is raining today and hopefully there is water cascading thru the little bit of downspout I have up. We're still working out the rain barrel part of the system and don't have anything hooked up. I won't get to see if it is working for a while since it will be dark when I get home, but since we are expecting rain for the next few days, I'll hopefully get to see. We were going thru websites on making rain barrels and have a good idea of what we need to do. I'm going to make sure I can add new barrels to the system as I get them so I can have lots of storage. Finally had to bring the dieffenbachia to work in order to save its life. Phoebe has decided it makes a wonderful bed and the poor thing was being bent out of shape. Not to mention Scrapper bouncing around in the pot while he was busy trying to finish destroying the kitchen blinds in his efforts to convince me he was going to die in the

Survived

Hubby was down sick to, so made for an interesting weekend, trading off the thermometer to see what each others temp was LOL. Actually was feeling a bit better on Saturday, so we wandered up to C&L Lockers to see what they had to offer in the way of meat. Walked away with a little over a pound each of ground elk and bison. Picked up a 2-3 pound beef roast to give it a try. Locally grown beef. If it is as good as our friends say it is, we'll look at investing in a bundle. While the price of the bundle is a bit more then we pay for beef at Winco (the bundle is $2.99 a pound versus buying what we can for less then $2.00 a pound at Winco), if the quality is good, then it would be worth it. Not sure yet how I am going to fix the elk and bison. I don't just want to do a chili. So am looking at various recipes for both. I will cook the beef roast this weekend, I think a slow roast with Yorkshire pudding on the side. I decided not to cook any of it this last weekend as being sick w

Rotten way to start the weekend

I didn't dodge the bullet, running a temp this morning with scratchy throat and icky feeling in my chest. So I called in sick and went back to bed. Slept until noonish or so and stumbled out to the living room. Currently heating water for tea, a hot toddy liberally laced with whiskey, honey and lemon is in my immediate future. Did manage some tomato soup today, I put some cheese in it. Totally yummy. Probably do the same for dinner unless hubby runs out to pick something up take away. Tea is calling.

Another great vid from Joy Nash

Well done Joy !!!!

I stand in awe!

I have made mention of The LawDog before. LawDog is an Officer of the Law somewhere in Texas and writes about his adventures and makes commentary on occasion. The way he can write bring tears of joy to my eyes, he is that good. I wish to point anyone who had yet to experience the sheer eloquence of LawDog to read his latest post in regards to the police officer who is suing the family of a young boy who almost drowned. My thoughts and prayers go to the family of Little Joey. In the meantime, I am glad to see the department has removed this so-called human being from duty. With luck it will be permanently as no one should be forced to deal with this nancygrace. I am also hoping her lawyer meets a sudden end of his career.

Nothing like listening to some politically incorrect

music to lighten one's day LOL. Actually, it is only a little bit politically incorrect. Discovered the library had a CD collection of Spike Jones and his City Slickers, so I've been listening to that all day. The collection is called Strictly for music lovers and has my all time favorite Spike Jones tune, 'Der Fuerher's Face'. Starting to get an itchy throat. There is some kind of crud running around adn I am hoping not to get it. I was scheduled to get some blood drawn tomorrow for my doctor's appointment next week, but the gal who does that is out of town. So I will go in first thing Monday morning. Hopefully the results will be ready for my appointment on Wednesday. I think a serous hot toddy with lemon and honey is in my night time future. Nicky is still pounding on Scrapper. Wish he would stop, but I think maybe the kitties are going thru a reorganization for top kitty now that KiKi is gone. Rum Tum is only coming home once in a while. Hubby was going to

Blech to the nth degree!

Today would have been a good day to stay home under the covers. Just not into being coherent today. Been up and down the emotional roller coaster all weekend. Friday is pretty much a blur, tho we had a friend over for dinner Friday night. We'd invited her a couple weeks ago and I decided that postponing would not be a good idea as I would have spent all the evening moping. I love the vet's where KiKi was, they were very sweet and I thought the vet was going to burst into tears when she administered the shot. She spent time with us before and after. We'll be giving KiKi a viking send off on the Samhain bonfire, for a couple of reasons. One is she loved bing the center of attention and the other is the vet had concerns about burial and the possibility of some critter disturbing her if we didn't bury her deep enough. If it is feline leukemia or such, it would be very dangerous for said critter. So KiKi will get a good send off and we don't have to worry. I spent most o

Bye Bye Sweet KiKi (??-10/4/07)

We'll miss our sweet baby cat.

Shit....

The vet called, KiKi's liver is failing, the spleen is enlarged and they are thinking lymphoma. She's still not doing well. Hubby will come get me later and we'll go over and go from there.

50 years ago today

Poor KiKi!

She went in for her last visit with the study vet and they called to say she was dehydrated. She'd been feeling poorly, as I've mentioned before. I knew her appetite was off, but didn't realize she wasn't drinking any water. So they are going to give her an IV before sending her home. They are also sending her home with a big bag of the miracle food they had her on at the start, so she will be getting that and any extra canned food we can get our hands on. The food isn't available commercially, so I hope to find out for sure what the anti-oxidant components are and get those when the food runs out. J gave me some pouched food her kitties won't eat when I popped over to pick up the kitty carrier, KiKi snarfed that up quickly. She was so into it, she ignored Phoebe who poked her head into the dish to try and get some. Now I just want to run over to Pullman to be with my poor kitty! ETA: Hubby had more news from the vet. KiKi's kidneys are fine, they are worrie

Fat stuff round up

Image
The 6th edition of Big Fat Carnival is up. Some very interesting articles. Kate Harding at Shapely Prose has a slideshow illustrating how ridiculous the BMI is . There's been some discussion on the Fatosphere regarding the fact that people have no clue of what fat actually looks like. A number of people have pointed out in books where a character has been describes as so fat they can't move, their eyes were buried in folds of fat, etc. Then the author drops the bomb, said character was around 200 lbs?!?!?!?! I've read about actresses who've shown up for auditions who were told they were too small, they were casting a truly fat character who weighted almost 250 lbs. Said actress was seriously amused since she weighted 250+, but the casting agent hadn't a clue WHAT FAT REALLY LOOKS LIKE. So last week The Rotund had people guess what her weight was. While I was within a half inch on her height, I was low on her weight. I'd figured she weighed less then I did. S
