MMMMMMMM!!!

Moulin Rouge! 'nuff said.

Okay, purple-ducky.com is now live!

Hubby had to call tech support at HostMonster, where he is getting the hosting to help get it going, but it works now. www.purple-ducky.com goes to my Blogger blog. I will have web page space, we'll figure that out later. I might move my page from the UI to the new one, or just use the UI for additional space, not sure yet. First I'll be whipping up a nice, simple web page for hubby's business, since he how has a domain for it. Had fun on the field trip on Friday. I've some video, not sure how much is usable. Will download it later and see what I can piece together. Weather got icky on Friday, rained quite a bit all afternoon. Yesterday it alternated between cloudy and sunny, warm and cold. We didn't go fishing. We did get a bunch of stuff off the deck and out to the landfill and all the recycling we could get or hands on over to the recycling center. We also had two big batteries we took in to. Deck is looking a lot better. Got two loads of laundry done yesterday

Blech!

I HATE breaking in new jeans and glasses. Washed the jeans so I can wear them and the waist band is digging into my tummy and my eyes are going bats**t trying to get used to my bifocals. Always happens, every time. Whimper..... Gotta seriously think about pulling the inserts out of the shed to put int he windows, they are predicting a low of 29F tomorrow night. This on top of rain. I am SO not ready for fall and winter. I need to dig all my cold weather clothes out of the closet. KiKi is really not doing at all well. I don't think she moved an inch from her spot on the end table all night last night. Night before she did come into the bedroom and curled up on hubby. He reached up to give her scritches and she scared him half to death. She was ice cold and wasn't moving. We have GOT to get her that food or at least whatever it was they added that made her feel better. I'm going to see about making her some kind a nest so she can stay warm at night, maybe even setting up the

I CAN SEE!! Dear sweet Jebus I can SEE!!!!!

My new glasses came in, so we popped over to Shopko and picked them up. I'm still trying to find the right distance for my monitor to see clearly, but the distance is perfect for the paperwork I have on my desk I am working off of. As much as I didn't want to go back into bifocals, it is nice to be able to read things again. Okay, taking my monitor off the blocks and putting it directly on the desk so I can look at them thru the bifocals aren't working. I have to tilt my head up to see it. [fiddle][fiddle] Okay, I think that should work. Keep this configuration for a couple of days and see how things go. Looks like the roads of North Idaho will be safe on Friday. Only enough people are going on the field trip that we'll only need two suburbans and the prof will drive one and one of the other students will drive the other. WHEW!!!!!

GAAK!!!

Just got done with my test. The two areas I had hoped that if he asked about them would at least have had more choices to choose from so I wouldn't have to deal with them. Nope, he only gave us a choice of 3 short answer essays and those two were two of them. So I had to do one of them, only got it maybe half right. Hopefully I did well enough not to be starting off with a failing grade. WAAHHH!!!! Oh well, I think I BS'd the long answer one to get a good enough score there and I think I hit the high points on the other short answer one to do well. Oh well, now on ot the rest of class.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!

I have my very own domain!!!!!! Not sure how soon it will be active, just got it today, so probably in a day or so. I'll be using it for my Blogger blog and I think I have some web page space (hubby signed up for a hosting site and domain for him and for an extra $10 added a domain for me to), not sure. I think I will have email with that domain too. So I will be purple-ducky.com, which is considerably shorter then the addy for my Blogger blog. That addy will still work, Blogger will just redirect people to the new one, so people won't HAVE to change the links they have, unless they want to. Now WHY purple-ducky? Wanted something fun, I am into devil duckies, purple is one of my favorite colors and my computer at home is called ducky on the network and my laptop it ittybittyducky on said network hehehehehehe. Okay, got my email set up, now I need to figure out how to make it work on Blogger. Right now it doesn't work right, it goes to a weird index thingy that isn't rig

South Park Avatar fun

Image
Been having fun making avatars using a South Park character generator . This is several I've come up with (and a couple I've used for a while):

Oh dear Goddess, I've been seduced by the evil force!

I have a confession to make. I actually stepped foot into Lame Gia.... er, Lane Bryant and bought things. I feel so, so, ick. SIGH! We'd gone to North Town Mall in Spokane to get hubby some shoes at a place his foot doctor told him to go to, or else. After we got TWO pair of shoes (getting him to buy one pair of decent shoes is a chore), we decided to walk by Lane Bryant just for a giggle. I've dislike Lane Bryant for years since they won't use proper sized models in their advertising, tho I did notice they had posters that showed real curvy girls, so that may be changing some. We got there and they actually had decent clothes on display in the window, so we said, heck, why not. Wandered about and found a couple skirts I liked and mostly fit (they will need to be nipped in at the waist) and then a couple bras. I did try on a number of blouses, but they looked NOTHING like the ones on the mannequins. Then again, of course they wouldn't. THEY ARE STILL USING SIZE 6 MANNEQ

Mmmmmm, almost the weekend

Taking tomorrow off to go up to Spokane for some shopping and possibly staying overnight just to get out of town for a while. Hubby has his eye appointment tomorrow and then he'll have his 'script and we can see about getting him new glasses. We were at Shopko's optical last night. I am seriously bummed. I really, really, really want a pair of geek girl glasses, but they aren't big enough to accommodate bifocals. WAAHHHHH!!!!! So will have to go with more round and fuller frames. Down the road a bit I might see about getting my geek girl glasses in single vision just as back up and for those times I don't need to have bifocals. Besides, hubby thinks geek girl glasses are HOT! hehehehehehehe! Forgot to ask what contacts would cost thru Shopko, maybe when we check in about hubby's prescription. Had a bit of rain today, not much. I do need to get out and harvest as much as I can, it got down to freezing last night, luckily nothing frosted. I still have a ton of yel

Arrrrr, it be Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Avast ye matey's, it be time for piratin'! Here is a place to git yer pirate name . I be Fruity Liza Dawkins I am. If ye be needin' help, here be a video that will help ye on your way to talkin' like a pirate:

Be afraid, be VERY afraid

Hehehehehehehe. I told Rodney I would be willing to drive for the field trips. Seems the U has this rule that drivers of university vehicles should be employees (tho grad students count I guess, but not enough volunteered). Once I fill out the paperwork and get it back to him (once he sends it to me), I will be piloting a 9 passenger Surburban. Automatic. Gotta remember that there are only TWO pedals, not three and try not to down shift. Did that once in my old station wagon. Transmissions make the funniest noises when you try and down shift automatics at 55 mph. As long as there is no backing up or parallel parking involved, I should do fine. I'll let everyone know what the routes will be so they can be off the roads on those days LOL.

I'm wireless!!!!

Hubby got his old laptop set up for me and I had to take it to the lab monitor at the computer lab here at the library to get it registered so I can access the wireless system here at the U. YAY!!!!! Currently typing this in the Fishbowl eating pretzels from the vending machine (kinda bummed they didn't have any chili cheese Fritos). So now I am set for school. I will be able to access stuff for class while in class, just in case I can't see what is up on the screen. Speaking of seeing. My eye appointment went well, got the new 'script in my wallet. We're going up to Spokane on Friday to do some shopping for glasses (hubby needs new ones to) and see about getting him some good shoes. We're looking at staying overnight (if we can find a nice place cheap enough) and putter about. I can get contacts if I want, tho I will have to wear them sparingly. But there are times I really don't want glasses on and I still need to see. But those will be down the road, bifocal

Blerble pt.2

I am so ready to rip my eyeballs out of their sockets. Thank the Goddess I have an eye doctor appointment tomorrow. It's been a while. I can't work with my glasses on, everything is blurry, but when I work without my glasses, I get raging headaches and my eyes feel like they are crawling. SIGH! On top of that the twitching on the left side of my face isn't helping matters much. Maybe we'll find out it is eye related (tho it involves most of the left side of my face) and we can make it stop. So I have resigned myself that I am going to have to get bifocals, tho I am going to seriously see if I can finally get into contacts. Tho if they are going to still cost a fortune, then no contacts. I need more aspirin.....

Blerble.....

Monday again and I really, really want to crawl back into bed. I don't think there is enough coffee in the world for today. So here is my new monitor: Hubby decided he's just a square kinda a guy and we swapped back. As you can see, I made it fit the space. I figured there is no reason cheap computer speakers HAD to stand upright, so I laid them down. Originally I had them in front, then decided to tuck them behind. Works well and I am getting used to the wider screen. It is so nice to not have my monitor overwhelming the living room. My friend took my old monitor, but decided not to take the CD player or home theatre, so we'll probably freecycle those. Didn't get a whole heck of a lot done this weekend. We went down to Lewiston to do a bit of shopping. Didn't find what we wanted and bought a few things we didn't plan on. On the way out of town we hit a place called Wasankari Construction. They have a salvage yard that is sheer heaven. They have a building with

Friday! FRIday! FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

Long, brain dead week. Got home last night, walked in the door and saw a monitor in the middle of the floor that looked an awful lot like mine. Then I realized it WAS mine. I looked over where my 'puter lives and there was a flat screen monitor where my big old honking monitor used to sit. Seems hubby went and ordered me a flat screen and didn't tell me about it. We've been planning on getting me one, but we usually had something else come up and I was content with the behemoth and in no hurry to get a new one. My sweet lovable hubby is really good at surprising me with things hehehehehehe. He also got me a new wireless keyboard as mine had died and the old one wired one he had to put on was driving me nuts (short drive, I know hehehehehehe). Okay, I should mention that the new monitor on my computer table isn't actually the one he ordered. That one is a 22 inch model and it didn't fit the space (problems with the speakers I have), so the new, new monitor is current

I'm getting too old...

for staying up late on work nights. My class on Tuesdays doesn't get out until 8:45pm, so by the time hubby comes to get me (I call him on me cell as soon as I walk out the classroom door) and get home, it is 9pm or a bit later (if we don't stop somewhere first). So dinner it usually about 10 pm. Since I don't want to crawl into bed immediately after eating, we end up staying up until well after 11pm and almost midnight. 7am comes awfully damned early. So what do I do last night? Same thing, only this was a lecture for the Core 116 classes that our class was invited to attend. There were two speakers, one was a gentleman from Kenya who is teaching one of the sections and the other was Cliff SiJohn, who is a Couer d'Alene elder who is a riveting speaker. I could have stayed up all night listening to them both. Their talk was geared to the Core students, most of whom are 18 year old freshmen, but I found lots of it of interest to me personally and the class I am currently

A wise man was Samuel Adams

"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."

Dear sweet Jebus!!!!!

Found this on Chimera's blog Phelps’ Followers to Picket Sen. Craig SIGH! Bad enough we now have a national joke as a senator, now the wackos are crawling out from under their rocks to get in on the act. One of these days they are going to get a serious whack up side the head by karma.

Very busy weekend. My kitchen is finally looking better. Saturday I finished painting the kitchen, all I really have to do is a bit of touch up here and there where I got white on the black and black on the white and then start looking at flooring. I am also going to replace the blinds with curtains. I'm thinking cafe style, not too sure. I need to look online and see what they had in the 50s and see if I like the original style or use it for inspiration. We had fun with trying to make the ice maker work. Seems the hose for the cold water under the sink was self sealing, so we couldn't get decent water flow. Hubby came up with an idea of putting in some copper pipe and then hooking everything up (had to replace the plastic hose with a new one, the old one of course had a hole in it). He got everything he needed and then promptly split the one brass nut, 10 minutes before the hardware store closed. So we were without cold water in the kitchen for the night. We had a friend in to

WE HAVE FRIDGE!!!!

WOO HOOOO!!!!!!!! Happy dance!!!!!! It arrived fine, of course I was still cleaning out the old one, so I went into hyperdrive and it is amazing how much I decided didn't need to get saved. Found a few things that protested being thrown out, but into the bin they went. Hubby was amazed I wasn't taking video of the guys setting the fridge up, I told him I wasn't THAT bad a video fiend hehehehehehe. I got pics of it afterwards before I put anything in it LOL. We had to take the ice maker kit back to Tri-State to get one that had a water filter in it. We'd just gotten the basic one. I drilled holes in the bottom of cabinets and hubby got the business end hooked up under the sink and then he drove me into work. Got a report later he got the ice maker hooked up and running. Now we are just waiting for ice cubes. I'll see about finishing the painting of the kitchen wall tomorrow so I can get everything back into place. I won't bother taking down the shelf brackets, I&

Last Friday's storm

So we were at the gas station when the thunderstorm rolled in fast:

Back to the grind

Didn't get a whole heck of a lot done this weekend, tho we did buy a new refrigerator. Not exactly the one I wanted (bottom freezer), but a nice one and most importantly, a bigger one. All the bottom freezer fridges I liked were out of our price range, so c'est levi eh? We are having an ice maker installed, which means we need to run a water line from the sink to the other side of the kitchen, but it will be worth it not having to futz with ice cube trays. The fridge is white with a top freezer and they will change the doors to open the other way once it is delivered, which will be Friday morning. I'll take the morning off so I can be home for the delivery. In the meantime I need to start cleaning out the old fridge and getting it clean. It already has a new home once we move it out. One of the things I will have to do is take down the shelving in the kitchen so they can get the fridges moved and swapped. I think while it is down I will look at finishing the painting in the
