YAWN!

Hard waking up this morning, even tho we got to bed before 11pm. Need LOTS of coffee.

Sad news over the weekend, a 21 year old UI student was found shot to death in his apartment. The police are treating it as suspicious as the gun was not found. They are having a press conference this morning.

The rest of the weekend was a bit happier, I taped fixing breakfast yesterday (or lunch as it was ready at 1pm hehehehehehe) and uploaded it to YouTube. I posted it on my food/cooking blog here.

Got word this weekend that plans for a 30th anniversary get together for MosCon is in the works. Plans are for having it in 2008 and it is anywhere from a relaxacon to a full blown convention (my vote is for the relaxacon, I'm getting to danged old for conventions LOL). However it comes off, it will be nice to see all the folk I've met at MosCon over the years.

For anyone who doesn't know what MosCon was, it was a science fiction/fantasy convention here in Moscow that got started in 1980 and ran for quite a few years before it faded away. It was a small con, which made it great for actually getting to meet the guests of honor, unlike the big creation cons that parade the guests out for a few mintues and then whisk them away to sign autographs for a fee. At MosCon I was able to sit in Hostilities, er, Hospitality and chat with my favortie authors and artists.

They are saying we may have snow today. UGH!!!! I hope not, even if it doesn't stick. The weather yeasterday was supposed to be miserable, but it was nice out and I opened up the house for a while. It was a tad chilly when the wind picked up a bit, but not to bad.

Made spaghetti for dinner last night, so guess what I'm having for lunch hehehehehehe.

The Cavern Denizens are in on the planning of the MosCon reunion. We're thinking that it just might re-start MosCon as a viable convention, now that there has been a short recess. But yeah, a relaxicon, rather than a full-blown convention, for sure. As I recall, MosCon was originally only supposed to be a relaxicon, anyway -- considering that it was always scheduled right next to WorldCon on the calendar. It became a full-blown, multi-track con because it was the best little con...and that was because the organizers didn't know that it couldn't be done, so they went ahead and did it!

Your neighbor with the hot tub is thinking that moving it to the summer, and trying to take advantage of university housing (cheap) and function space, might be a good idea. I concur. Waiting to see what pops into my inbox on that...

Wouldn't it be great if we could get the old Cavanaugh's for it? WOOT! Hot-tub partay!

Unfortunately, the old Cavanuagh's is now grad student housing and university offices, with the hot tub room having been turned into a laundry room, so the hot tub is long gone :(

Using university housing would be nice, Wallace Complex would be good. Kinda like V-Con at the UBC.

Damn shame about Cavanaugh's hot tub. If the students needed clean clothes, couldn't they just have worn them into the tub? ;D

Does the University have an indoor pool...something we can turn into clothing-optional fun space?

We do have a big pool and a shallow lap pool, but don't think the U would go for clothing optional activities. Besides, even in the summer time they keep the pool bloody freezing (as far as I am concerned) for the swim teams and competitions.

The snow today was so weird! It was sunny, but there was snow falling, but it wasn't sticking or even making the ground wet. So weird!

It was weird. I went to lunch and saw snow flying past the windows on the south sideo f the building, but didn't see any out the east window in the break room. Very weird hehehehehe
