OOOOOOO!!!!!!

OOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I just got done with the book and I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Letter to idiot NASCAR fans

You know who you are. You are the ones who threw trash and beer cans out onto the track at Talledega and last week at Phoenix. Classy dimwits, real classy. And it is nitwits like you who wonder why NASCAR has a reputation of being the sport of ignorant rednecks who can't be in polite society because they can't behave like grownups. Thanks alot. I just recently got into watching NASCAR becasue it is a family sport, it is a united effort between owners, drivers and the people in the pits, in the garage and most importantly, the fans. Because in the post race interviews the word "I" in seldom used. "We" and "Our" is repeated a lot, unlike post game interviews with over paid whiney cry babies who play football, baseball or basketball. They rarely acknowledge the fact it was a TEAM effort that won the day, instead they strut their stuff and hog the glory for themselves. Your behavior after both races was extremely disrespectful. Disrespectful of your fe

Weekends really need to be a lot longer

It was a nice weekend, managed to get a bit done inthe yard. Mowed half of it, tho I almost killed myself trying to get the mower started. The pull kept stopping halfway thru and jerking out of my hand. OUCH! But the lawn looks better, even half done and I straightened up my work area and got the plywood that was sitting on garbage can pallet moved, so the garbage cans are now back on the pallet next to the steps and not hanging out in the driveway. Kitties have been happy with the office window open all weekend, but it is gettgin a bit chilly again at night and I want the heat back on, so the window is going to get closed at night and the kitties can stay in. Made a big pot of split pea soup on Saturday, so guess what's for lunch this week hehehehehehe. Discovered Scrapper REALLY likes peanuts. We had a bag with some between us on the couch and Scrapper put his head in and helped himself. Pretty funny. Had a nice time at the CommUNITY Walk on Saturday with Ms Ella. Pics and some v

Rum Tum after we got him: And a bit ago: And he still has about a year and a half of growth to get thru! He's also figured out what the doorknob is for on the front door and can reach it easily without much stretching. Thank the Ghodz he doesn't have opposible thumbs and that we have regular round door knobs, or else he would be able to let himself out of the house! I've said before he is a very smart kitty, I had to have a serious chat with him last night about his fighting me while I am trying to comb him out and he was better about it, until I yanked a bit too hard on the comb. He is so matted under his outer coat it isn't funny, but he didn't like the idea of the lion cut I threateneing him with.

FRIDAY!!!!

Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday! Yup, it's Friday hehehehehehe

A great vid

Hat tip to Tam at View From The Porch

Almost there!!!!

It is looking too nice out to stay indoors, but this weekend is supposed to be really nice, so am really looking forward to it. Saturday is the Moscow CommUNITY Walk: "It starts at noon at Friendship Square with welcoming notes and essay readings by Moscow students. University of Idaho President Tim White, Mayor Nancy Chaney, Rep. Tom Trail, and ASUI President Humberto Cerillo will be among the participants, with Daily News editor Steve McClure serving as emcee. The walk, accompanied by bagpipes, will proceed to East City Park, where there will be a potluck meal, music, and entertainment." So I will be going and taking Ms Ella along. It has been a while since she's been out and about and this would be a good event for her to attend. She even has new sunglasses to wear. Watched a really neat movie last night. Thought is was going to be one of those we'd watch about 10 minutes of and then delete, but it turned out to be a keeper. It is Undead and written, directed

Oh dear....

It appears Bluetooths and washing machines don't mix. Hubby says it charged, but he can't connect. Then again, it may need a lot more time drying out. Luckily tho TigerDirect does have some factory refurbed ones for a pretty decent price, so he can get another one if need be. On a happy note, it looks like VJ's BBQ is opening May 8th, so with luck I know what we are having for dinner that day LOL.

Halfway to the weekend

Spent half the night awake and coughing. This isn't fair, I just want a good nights sleep and actually be coherent the next day. Managed to run hubby's Bluetooth ear piece thru the wash this morning. He says it seems to be taknig a charge, so if it is still working, I think we should send a testimonial to the company, maybe get a newer model out of them hehehehehe. Dinner last night was good and the Garand is now cleaner and properly greased. C showed us how it is all put together and a few tricks for taking it apart. Now I just need bullets and I can go out shooting. The pork came out nicely. I just baked it with some Tom Sherry's BBQ rub, some sesame oil and TJ's white basalmic vinegar. I made a double batch of rice so I have some left for stir fried rice and then I nuked up some green and yellow beans and some squash from last summer. It all tasted yummy. The squash came out nicely and I'd frozen it last August. Apparently there was an armed robbery on campus yes

In hindsight

taking the ambien cr before bed last night might not have been the best idea. But I really did want a full nights sleep, I just wish I wasn't so brain dead today. Ick..... It's not like I took it way late, I took it about 10:45pm, which would give me a good 8 hours sleep if I woke up at 7am. I fell asleep okay, woke up briefly about 11:45 and went right back to sleep and regained something ressembling consiousness about 8am. Trying to get up and walk was interesting, with my head trying to fall off and my eyes trying to stay closed. Thank the Goddess I didn't have to deal with the coffee maker this monring, I'd set it up successfully last night and had a cup of leftover in the microwave. Trying to have coherent conversations on the phone today has been interesting as I try to get my brain to function on some level above dead. I think I may see about splitting the pills in half and see if that will let me get some good sleep without the zombie after effects. Oh well, at

My mind has gone bye bye and the answering machine is on, but on the fritz LOL Where's our sun go? We had some earlier and it was nice to see, now it is gray and icky out (at least it is still warm). Stayed up way to late last night, tho that was in part because we'd popped over to B's house so hubby could work on her computer and we stayed for quite a while and then it was home for dinner. So we had dinner late, we'd invited B over and we watched Mythbusters. We tired watching the Clooney Batman & Robin, but we didn't make it more then 10 minutes into it before we deleted it off the DVR. It was bad. I love George Clooney and the Guvernator isn't that bad an actor, but they needed to be given a script, not special effects and one liners. The ham came out well, I think next time we'll spring for some Dr Pepper to pour over it. The Shasta cherry cola is pretty good, but the Dr Pepper will be a nice change. I got the bone in the freezer and the rest of it s

It's about frickin' time!

Wiccan symbol OK for soldiers' graves This has been the biggest case of religious discrimination by the governement in years. FINALLY these soldiers will have the symbol of their faith on their tombstones. Not only discrimination, but it was a serious slap in the face of those who died fighting for the freedoms of our country to have their faith denied.

Ahhhhhhhh...

Putter, putter, puttering along. Fairly quiet day, tried sleeping in, finally crawled out of bed about 8:30am and did coffee and hung out on the computer until hubby got up. Been concentrating on getting the living room in order, putting the alter back on the buffet now that the rug rat is no longer here. Put the water wall up there and we're going for a minimal alter set up for now. Hubby is liking the less cluttered look, tho is is driving me nuts (very short drive LOL). But this will give me a chance to change it around every couple of weeks as I feel like it. Ran more recycling in, I can walk around the kitchen now LOL. Picked up a couple collapsible mesh laundry baskets (made with that memory wire) to use for recycling bins on the porch. Hopefully that will help keep a lot of the recycling out of the kitchen where it gets underfoot and make it easier to take in. Picked up a ham at Safeway last night, got it for 88 cents a pound on the card, so it just came out of the oven a fe

SIGH!

What a thing to wake up to on a Monday morning. Been reading the news from Virginia Tech about the shootings on campus. Won't know the whole story until the dust settles a bit, reports are 32 dead, among them the shooter and a number of people wounded. My heart goes out to the families of the wounded and dead. The truly sad thing is, this could have been prevented if VT was not a victim disarmament zone. School policy disarms everyone on campus, even if they have a CCW, which means they are legally allowed to carry concealed in Virginia. Apparently a bill to do away with this policy never even made it out of committee, with one VT official stating that it was good this happened so everyone would feel safe on campus. How safe are people now? Because every one knows the bad guys follow the rules and would NEVER come on campus armed when guns aren't allowed. Okay, sarcasm off. Now the gun control nuts are screaming more needs to be done. Let's see, guns were not allowed on ca

Saturday

and the house guests have taken off for home. Seems strange having the house so empty. I just wish I hadn't been sick half this week. Oh well, with luck the next time they come back down I'll not be sick and we can do everything I'd hoped to do while they are down. They did have a nice drive out with hubby last night and they stopped at a cafe in Troy for dinner. I haven't eaten there yet, but I've heard good things and hubby enjoyed what he had. They did hit the store back in Moscow and brought home Cyrus O'Leary's apple pie and vanilla Haagen Das for dessert. It was yummy. I'd just had some leftover chicken earlier for my dinner. Cold and not so nice out today. We've got the inserts back in the windows and the humidifier going with the eucalyptus oil here in the living room. The cold is working its way out, my temp is back to normal and the cough isn't so bad. Sinuses are clearing up, tho every time I blow my nose my ears plug up. ICK! Kitties

Ugh......

Had to call in sick today, it's settled into to my lungs. Luckily not too deeply, but enough to make me miserable. Went back to bed and slept in until 11:30am. Felt a bit better, but still bad enough I'm not going anywhere. Currently got the house to myself, hubby and D went out to the range again and P took the baby out for a ride as she wasn't going down for her nap willingly. Later they are going to do a bit more shopping and hubby will take them out to Spring Valley and vicinity for a bit of sightseeing. Lovely, just took my temp and I'm still running a bit over 99F. At least the weather is nice enough I can open the windows and get a bit of fresh air in. Kitties are slowly coming to terms with the house guests, just in time for them to be taking off LOL. Managed to get all 4 of them in last night, tho Scrapper killed the one set of blinds trying to get out and ended up falling into the baby's crib. D said he's never seen a cat go straight up in the air and

To tell you how sick I am

P is out cleaning my kitchen and I'm not saying boo LOL. Actually I'm not doing too badly, keeping it out of my lungs so far and that is helping. As long as I don't cough I am fine. Took a pseudonephrine last night so I could breath thru my nose and I thought I was going to die, my heart took off like crazy. Finally calmed down enough i was able to sleep. Hopefully tonight my sinuses will be clear enough i can not do that again. Baked a ham last night for dinner, turned out yummy. Yesterday we did lunch out at San Miguel's, a new restaurant in town. Was very yummy. I had the veggie enchiladas, they were filled with a spinach and mushroom mix and I highly recommend them. Hubby and D are in doing more reloading, hubby finally figured out why he was having problems with the loads. I've a lot of pics and eventually i need to go in and edit video. Probably do that this weekend after our guests leave. Well, I'm actually feeling hungry, so am going off in search of som

Okay, let's see....

Kleenex..check Aspirin..check Hall's cold defense with vit C and zinc..check Cool cayene with Butcher's Broom..check Whisky..nope, have to wait to use that after I get home. I prefer hot toddies over Nyquil any day. So the cold is currently at bay, only a slight sore throat this morning and my sinuses are fairly clear. I think I should be able to get thru the day with the supplies I've got. We popped out last night in a driving hail storm to go out for dinner. We went to the chinese buffett and I got to eat my fill of salt and pepper shrimp. Tummy is seriously happy. Didn't get any crab tho, someone beat me to it and they didn't refill the pan. Oh well, next time hehehehehehehe. Speaking of driving hail storm, it was a doozy. Haven't seen that much hail in a long time. A bit of thunder and lightning too, but I missed most of that being inside. Am looking at upgrading my Flickr account to pro, so ALL my pics will show, instead of the most current 200 and I can ha

Oh great!!!!

I'm coming down with a sore throat. Hubby says he and our guests also have sore throats. AUUUGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to be sick this week. I guess I will whip up a big pot of chicken soup and we can hit the Coop for some zinc lozenges. Have to stock up on orange juice to.

Everyone arrived safe and sound

and I am almost sane again LOL No puppy dog this trip, which is good for the kitties as they are traumatized as is from the small. Nicky has spent most of the weekend in the bedroom closet, Scrapper has to get carried in and will rush to the bedroom once he's eaten and then wants out desperately at 3am (and since my guests are sleeping in the living room on the futon, has someone willing to open the door for him so she can go back to sleep), KiKi is fine now that the initial shock of guests is over, tho she spent most of yesterday on top fo the refrigerator and I've only seen Rum Tum a few times, tho I did get him in for a few minutes on Saturday. Life with a small in the house is fun, as she is on a schedule and the trip has disrupted that, so we've been working around making sure she gets what she needs on time, but now she's got LOTS of new stuff to look at and play with and all she seems to keep on going and going like the Energizer Bunny LOL. Gotta get a house with

I've gone past panic and have arrived at resignation

Our friends are arriving sometime this evening, not sure of their ETA, but hopefully I will have enough time to at least get the floor mopped and with their help we can get the kitty condo out of the house. I will try and remember to grab some paper boxes on my way out the door (which means I need to remember to go thru shipping when I leave) and I can at least get stuff shoved into them. It is such a lovely day out today and the forecast for the next two days is mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s. Looks like rain by Sunday evening, but it should be nice enough to putter about outside and open up the house. Hopefully we will be able to do some exploring and showing off the area to them more. I'd hoped we could drive up Hwy 12 along the Clearwater to the Montana border, but gas broke $2.80 a gal yesterday and that is going to put a crimp on things. But there are lots of places to see in the immediate area and hopefully the weather next week won't be as icky as they are sayin

AUUGGHHH!!! IT'S STILL MONDAY!!!!!

whimper So all this week it has been Monday and I am about done in. I was hoping today would be Friday, it's the end of the week and all, but it is still Monday. At least it is payday. Hubby was chatting on IM with our friends last night and turns out they are starting their drive down TODAY!!!!!! My house is STILL a mess and needless to say, I panicked. Quiet panic, but panicked I am. Managed to get half the living room cleaned up and was attempting to mop the kitchen floor when the mop head disinegrated. Whenever I started freaking out I would sit down and the Scrapper kitty would come over and curl up in my lap, so I had some kitty therapy to help me calm down. He is turning into such a sweetie kitty. I am seriously hoping they will stop halfway and not make the trip in one swell foop and I can get the house finished tonight and tomorrow morning. After getting what I did get done last night, the place isn't THAT bad, just trying to figure out where to put everything. I'l

It has been a while since I did one of these: What train are you? You're the Empire Builder! An admirer of Lewis & Clark, you have a firm belief in Manifest Destiny. Your destiny has manifested itself in a northern and at times desolate existence, but you don't mind life on the mountainside with snow and goats. Though your glory days are well past you, many still come to visit you to talk about the old times and get a taste for what you were like back in your prime. If you were a dish soap, it would be Cascade. Take the Trains and Railroads Quiz at RMI Miniature Railroads .

Today's lunch

I did burgers again last night and made seasoned tater rounds to go with it (toss the frozen tater rounds in olive oil and a packet of ranch seasoning and bake). Needless to say, leftovers for lunch and they were yummy.

Wonderful quote for today

YAWN!

Hard waking up this morning, even tho we got to bed before 11pm. Need LOTS of coffee. Sad news over the weekend, a 21 year old UI student was found shot to death in his apartment. The police are treating it as suspicious as the gun was not found. They are having a press conference this morning. The rest of the weekend was a bit happier, I taped fixing breakfast yesterday (or lunch as it was ready at 1pm hehehehehehe) and uploaded it to YouTube. I posted it on my food/cooking blog here . Got word this weekend that plans for a 30th anniversary get together for MosCon is in the works. Plans are for having it in 2008 and it is anywhere from a relaxacon to a full blown convention (my vote is for the relaxacon, I'm getting to danged old for conventions LOL). However it comes off, it will be nice to see all the folk I've met at MosCon over the years. For anyone who doesn't know what MosCon was, it was a science fiction/fantasy convention here in Moscow that got started in 1980 an
