End of a long week

So it was back up to Spokane yesterday for the last (I hope) allergy visit. I ended up leaving 4 vials of blood to be sent to John Hopkin's University for further testing for bee and whatnot venom. The allergist is a bit befuddled about my lack of reactions to the tests, but my having symptoms on being stung and then the itching without a rash most of the time does have him confused. I am quite good at confusing doctors LOL. He thinks it might possibly be the antihistimine I've been taking has suppressed things enough that they just aren't showing up on the tests. Granted, I've been taking them pretty much daily since my one doc suggested them in the first place, so that could be it. The allergist has recommended I keep the epi-pen handy and gave me a 'script for one that is similar called a twin inject. We'll check with our pharmacist and see which one is better price wise. He also said to hang onto my old one even if it has expired as while it isn't 100%,

Survived Monday, again

Didn't get a real chance to sleep in yesterday, tho I took my time getting up. Got a load of laundry done so hubby could have clothes and we finally headed up to Spokane about 10:30. Got there with plenty of time for my appointment. So I got poked and scratched and the results were negative for venom, with a big but. With bees and such, you can get stung 99 times with no problems, but the 100th time could be extremely bad, so I will still take precautions. Which means I still take an epi-pen when camping, hiking and whatnot away from civilization, just in case. But it is nice to know I don't have to worry about the little buggers looking at me crosseyed. I'll still do my best to avoid them, I really, really, really hate getting stung, esp by yellow jackets becasue they are evil little critters who LOVE attacking you. I'm now running around with a couple big sticky patches on my back, they come off tomorrow when I see the allergist at the Pullman clinic. These test for m

A Sunday giggle

Came via an email list I am on: Dear Mr. Thatcher, I have been a loyal user of your Always maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core(tm) or Dri-Weave(tm) absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants. Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever suffered from "the curse"? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my "time of the month" is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transforme

Lazy day

Sort of. Been puttering about some, making headway on the living room. Yesterday I got all the breakables off the one bookshelf and those stashed. When the rug rat arrives the alter will get cleared off, but I'll wait until then. Been raining most of the day, sun is finally out, well, it was a minute ago LOL. Ostara was wonderful, we started after dark, of course as soon as we started, it started sprinkling. It wasn't bad and the light rain felt rather nice. It didn't last long and we finished up rit with the moon peeking thru the clouds. I ended up grabbing some chips and pastel colored gummi bunnies from the dollar store as I never got around to doing any baking. Went to the gun show yesterday, ended up buying a collapsable walking stick. I've been looking for one and this has a knob that unscrews and you can screw on a camera to use it as a mono-pole. I also picked up a V attachment to use it as a mono-pole for shooting. I did manage to loose the rubber tip somewhere

Friday, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!! The camera probably won't be here until Monday, WAHHH!!!!!!! No great plans this weekend except Ostara circle tomorrow night. With luck the weather will behave as it is outside. Haven't decided what I'm taking for nibblies, I still have several gluten-free mixes if I wanted to take backed goods. There is a gun show this weekend, we are considering going, tho since I have 3 doctors appointments next week, probably won't buy anything as we need to make sure we have co-pays and gas to get up to Spokane and back, twice. Still need to buckle down and get the living room decluttered for our friends coming down. We also need to check Goodwill for baby gates for the kitchen and the hallway. Did a little grocery shopping last night and picked up some steaks that had $2 off stickers, so we grabbed several packages. They are cleap cuts, but are pretty tasty. I pan fried a couple in the cast iron skillet with a bit of Tom Sherry's BBQ rub and hubby sliced some crimin

It's getting closer!

The camera went thru Salt Lake City this morning.

AUUUGHHHH!!!!!!!!

I hate waiting. As of this morning my new video camera was in South Bend Indiana and will probably not get here until Monday. WAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me want toy!!!!!!!!! hehehehehehehe Scrapper is here to stay by the way, there is no way we can give him away (unless someone walks thru the door who he instantly bonds with and wants to go home with), he's just too sweet. I brought him in last night and put him down next to his food dish and he ignored it and headed straight for hubby's lap for some pets and lovin'. Managed to get him down to the bedroom and he snuggled for a while.

It is definately Spring

Image
We've had hail, snow, rain and sunshine over the course of 5 minutes at one point while I was at lunch. Typical spring weather here in Moscow. At least the snow wasn't much and didn't stick. It is also windy. Very sleepy today and today is trying to be a Monday. Hubby dropped his Bluetooth ear piece for his phone and it took us a while to find it, then I got to work and realized I forgot to bring my coffee (not to mention forgot to prep it) so I had to wait til coffee break and get some fromt he staff kitchen. I sliced my left index finger on a piece of paper, hurts like a son of a gun. I was giving serious condieration to just curling up under my desk until quitin' time. Watched the race last night, enjoyed it, even if my boy didn't win, at least Jimmy J beat Tony hehehehehehehehehehe. Scrapper is definately getting comfrotable about staying in at night, tho I still have to encourage him to come into the house. Nicky is starting to settle down with him in there, ign

A fantastic fat rant!

One reason I love YouTube is a lot of great stuff gets posted. This one from Joy Nash is one that needs to get spread around.

MMMMMMMMMM, warmth and sunshine

Lovely weekend, even today with the clouds rolling thru. It was over 60F both days and so totally yummy out. Got a bit done this weekend, dug out a bit more of my flower strip and will rescue some plants from next door where they are getting trampled and B would like them rescued. Finally dug up the big clump of grass in the one corner of my flower bed and cleaned out the dead stuff. LOTS of tulips coming up and it looks like my irises have multiplied. I'll split them this fall. Worked moreon my cold fram and hopefully have it fixed up right. I did plant some more spinach seeds as I think the last batch got too wet. Figured out how to prop it open during the day. Friday after work we popped out to the range to test some bullets hubby rolled up, got more vid: More of the range: Shooting the M1: and shooting it after dark: ARRRGHHH!!! The mosquitos are out and I am being attacked here in the house. Have to see about grabbing the anti itch stuff an make some mosquito repellent I saw t

A good day to stay in bed

Really, really, really didn't want to wake up this morning, I kept falling back asleep even tho the radio alarm had gone off and the light had switched on. I only got up when the alarm turned off and then went back on again at 8am (it has a dual alarm setting). Needless to say, I'm seriously dragging this morning. I've started taking my loratadine right before bed, the allergist had mentioned doing that at bedtime, so am wondering if that is part of the reason it was so hard waking up this morning (that and not getting to bed until 11:30 pm). No major plans this weekend, except Ostara planning on Sunday. So just need to putter around and do more cleaning and decluttering. Our friends may not come down, due to some changes in their household, and may come down later in the year. But I plan on having things set so we are ready if they do make it down in April. OOOOOOOOOO! I see some sunshine, hopefully it there will be a lot more. I'm hoping it will be nice tomorrow so I

Some answers

Spent most of the day dealing with doctors. First off was my new doc to find out the results of my blood tests. Good news, I tested negative for Celiacs, so I don't have to worry about that. Why I am feeling miserable after eating wheat products and such, we don't know unless it may be like my lactose intolerance, if I eat too much I have problems, if I keep the milk and cheeses down to a few times a week I am okay. We'll see, gives me a great excuse to expand the food repetoire to lots of non-gluten foods tho. I can switch a lot of what has gluten in it to non-gluten, cutting back on the gluten and hoepfully that will help. My thyroid levels came back good, so no need to adjust my meds at the moment, tho he wants me to keep seeing the idiot endo in Spokane. I'd rather not, but hubby was in the room and he'll insist I get an appointment. Grrrrrrr! The rest of the day was with the allergist. I do not seem to have any food allergies (forgot to ask if that also meant t

ARRGH!!!!!!

Image
This itching is going to drive me insane (very short drive, I know). I had the sneezes yesterday, today I've almost taken the skin of the little finger of my left hand and I've got itchy patches all over. And I'm sneezing and snuffling again. WAAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So tomorrow I see the allergist to test and see what I am allergic to. Hubby joked it was either him or the cats, I told him I'd just have to take LOTS of antihistimine. I woke up from a nightmare last night that I was ordered to remove the carpeting from my place, leaving the Goddess awful 1970s linoleum SHUDDER!!!!!!!! You can see it here in the kitchen, the whole house has that under the carpeting: Was at a loss for what to do for lunch today, so I packed up some bread, cheese and the smoked sauage dogs with cheese. Those dogs are very yummy after being broiled. Made a very nice lunch using the bread as buns. Dinner last night was thrown together leftovers. I diced up the fish fillets and heated up some oi

Spring has sprung

I heard the crop duster practicing in the field this weekend, saw some signs of life in my cold frame and the trees outside the staff lounge have buds:

gak!

We should all go home and crawl back into bed. It is definately a Monday, came to work without my jewelry, had a bitch of a time waking up, of course that's because I couldn't get to sleep last night and to top that off, when I finally did, I woke up have a hard time vreathing to discover the idiot child Rum Tum had curled up under the headboard on top of the power cords, thus unplugging my CPAP. SIGH!!! Really low key weekend. About the only thing I got done yesterday was some dishes, a couple meals and hauled the garbage out. Hubby spent most of the day playing Diablo II after he updated the Flash and Java on my linux side. We watched a bunch of shows we'd recorded and the race. The race was pretty good, the only thing that would have made it perfect was if Jeff had come in first and Jimmy 2nd, but we'll take the finish as it was. Got creative for breakfast, started with a bit of chopped onion and butter and cooked that until soft in the cast iron skillet. Then I toss

Very low energy weekend.

I started feeling like crap yesterday afternoon and we stopped at Safeway long enough to pick up 7UP, large curd cottage cheese and a couple of Rancher's Reserve roasts on sale. Dinner for me was the cottage cheese and 7UP, that was the only thing my tummy would deal with, tho later I had a glass of milk and saltines for some solid food. Slept in until 11am, hubby was up earlier. Apparently I was giving him some of my weird dreams, tho mine were weirder (still haven't figured out why the one guy was steal organs from frat rats and then tattooing the frat rats with barcodes). Hmmmm, it is most definately getting to be spring, I hear the crop duster overhead hehehehehe. I loaned my Small Wonder to a co-worker for the weekend, so I'll have to wait for another time to go out and get vid of that.

Yup!

Prickly City

It's Friday, Spring Break starts

and everyone around here is dropping like flies from various illnesses. There seems to be a particularly fast moving nasty bug running thru and so far I have dodged it (knock on wood). Nice and sunny out this morning. Didn't feel like cooking last night, so we ended up at the chinese buffett for dinner. I've been off my antihistimine for a couple days now and I am doing my level best to NOT shred the skin off my right hand. I think I've finally gotten enough hydrocortizone cream on my hand to make the itching stop, but now my back is getting itchy. So far I haven't had many other allergy symptoms, at least today. I sincerely hope I can live until my appointment. No real plans for the weekend, have to start babyproofing the house. Our friends said we don't need to worry about the deck, but since I've always planned on closing it in to give the kittes a safe bolt hole, might as well see what I can get done with what I have on hand. I have that white plastic latti

Comedy actor Inman dies aged 71 Of all the actors in Are You Being Served?, John Inman was my favorite. His Mr Humphries was funny, sweet and wonderful and always made me laugh, even with just a look.

Countdown til the big visit

Our friends will be arriving in a few weeks with their new baby girl. They are very good friends we consider family, so we consider their little on to be our "niece". I so can't wait, we have seen our little sweetie since last summer when we went up to visit them in Canada. So now we have the fun and joy of babyproofing the house. More latches for the under cabinets, latches for the liquer cabinet, making sure all the cords for the blinds are tied up way out of her reach. Clearing off a lot of the clutter on the bookshelves (do I see a Fling in the making?), clearing off the alter (lots of stuff a little can get her hands on that aren't very good for littles). Luckily the kitty dishes are already up out of her reach, tho at least one kitty box will be going elsewhere. Probably move the kitty condo outside for the week or else bolt that puppy to the wall so it can't be pulled over. Water heater isn't a problem, I turned it down to 120F or a bit lower right afte

40 Reasons to Ban Guns

Found on the Women & Guns forum where I hang out: 40 Reasons to Ban Guns 1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, Detroit & Chicago cops need guns. 2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. 3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics." 4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991. 5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid. 6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals. 7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357

Sunday

And I am in pain. We went to the range yesterday and while I had fun, I overdid it a bit since it was the first time we've spent anytime out shooting like that. But we had fun and today is a low energy day, just a bit of puttering, planted some lettuce and brocoli and put some plastic on the cold frame top and managed to break another pane on it. So I stapled some plastic over that and tossed the broken glass. We'll do steak and eggs for dinner, we've some hoagie rolls we'd gotten yesterday that we had for part of dinner last night and I will make some garlic rolls with those. So here are the vids from yesterday. We'd hoped for more, but the webcam kept crapping out, so we only had the RCA Small Wonder.

HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!!!

Peep library research (now I've got an itch, Devil Duckies and a camera BWAHAHAHAHA!)

What do you mean "Snow Advisory"?????

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MORE SNOW!!!!!!!! We are done with snow, it is time for warmer weather, light rains and lots of growing things! Snow covers up my yard and garden and makes it hard to do stuff out there. NO MORE SNOW DADNABBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sigh, I hate this time of year when the weather can't make up it's mind. I am in serious need of warm sun to go out and play in my yard and garden and get things ready for planting and summer. IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, it's been a long week. Looking to go out to the range tomorrow morning, early. Hubby is getting my M1 bore sighted this morning and then is going out to the range to check out the rounds he rolled up to make sure they work. If they do, he'll come home and roll up lots more. He'll also see about coming up with some kind of stand for my Small Wonder so we can get some steady video. We'll take the laptop so we can download it and I can edit th
