Just a quick note

Currently sitting at my 'puter with the living room windows open (it's alreay 62F outside Very Happy ), drinking coffee, listening to the birds, breeze thru the wind chimes, the equipment in the wheat field getting it prepped for planting, the crop duster doing his practice runs and my hubby in his cave, er office playing video games. Tonight we go out for Beltaine celebration. Tomorrow we'll either play the whole day geocaching or at least part of the day as I still need to do outside cleanup around the house.

The best movie of the year

and I'm never going to see it. United 93 is opening today over at the Village Cinema in Pullman. I saw Joel Segal's review of it this morning and it ripped me apart, I was crying before the end of the review. I'm not talking a few weepy tears, I'm talking gut wrenching, snot running sobs. The question asked, is it too soon for a movie like this. The answer for me is, yes. Then again, for me 50 years from now would be too soon for me. When I first heard of the movie being made, I was seriously pissed. How dare Hollywood try and make a movie out of it, I've seen the abominations they make of real life happenings and they ALWAYS manage to sully the memories of the people and events. Not this time, everything I've read and seen on the movie shows the director and people involved thought about it and wanted to make it the best they could. There are no big name actors or stars and there are real people who were there (Goddess, how they could relive that I'll neve

Dad blast it, I've been zapping myself all day on anything remotely metal and it is getting OLD!!!!!! I don't know why I'm extra staticy today, but it is begining to hurt. I've even tried a trick my supervisor uses, she touches her ring to the metal and that usually dissapates the static. I usually wear my wedding band on my penticle since it won't fit my ring finger anymore, so I decided to try it on my pinky. Fits nicely there and that seemed to work for a while, but the zaps are getting so big and powerful I still get zapped :( Okay, silk shirt over a poly shell probably wasn't the wisest fashion choice, esp since it has been pretty dry humidity-wise, but it looked good. So the silk shirt is off, I'mm bare armed and we'll see what happens when I get up next. I'm strongly suspecting the shell will build up enough static from my chair I'm still going to get zapped. At least the day is almost over and I can go home. Tomorrow it will be nothing bu

I WANNA GO PLAY!!!!!!

Sunshine and 60F right now. Way too nice to be stuck inside. The sun had come out late yesterday afternoon and it was sooooo nice. We stopped at Winco to pick up one of their fried chicken dinners. Hubby's client yesterday paid him extra and told him to take me out to dinner :D As much as going to a restaurant would have been nice, Winco fried chicken sounded better, plus it gave me leftovers for lunch. I brought a couple parmasean bagels from Costco, some cream cheese and a chicken breast. I'll toast the bagels, slather with cream cheese and shred the chicken on to make a couple sandwiches. I'm really wishing I'd gotten an avacado, that would go great on them. I'm now getting the brilliant idea of making an avacado spread with cream cheese in the future, that would REALLY be yummy on a toased bagel. Never did get out to work in the yard last night. By the time we got home with dinner and then one of hubby's clients dropped by it was a little late. Maybe tonight

Grrrrr!

Dear Paul Matthews of the Lending Group. Please drop dead. I'm getting sick and tired of your automated phone calls to my place of work several times a week. It's bad enough when we get spammer calls from people trying to bill us for non-existant office supplies, those I can at least sic our secretary on, but you aren't even live, you are Memorex and very, very annoying. So you are hereby directed to attempt an airborne indecent assault at a perambulating, perforated pastry. SIGH! The really annoying thing about these calls is they come in at all hours and days. Our student workers report getting several at the front desk on the weekends and nights. You would think the idiots on the other end would actually consider LOOKING at the numbers they have programmed in, our prefix is for the university, I very much doubt they are going to generate much business calling business numbers.

PPPTTTHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

It needs to be Friday. I'm ready for Friday. Weather is slightly ick today, tho reasonably warm. Every once in a while the sun peeks out for a few minutes and then disappears. We had the living room windows open until pretty late last night before it got too chilly. Hopefully soon I can open up the rest of the house. Didn't have anything in the fridge this morning that sounded good for lunch. Wandered over to the Commons and got a Whopper with cheese, no onions at the Burger King lite counter. I wish they sold small fries. The smallest they have are mediums and I didn't want that many. So just stuck with the burger. I need to fix something for dinner tonight to give me leftovers for tomorrow. I just need to fix dinner period. Didn't do dinner on Sunday and never got around to it last night (hubby had done chinese buffet for lunch and wasn't hungry until too late last night and I just wasn't hungry) and by the time lunch the next day rolls around I'm noticing

I'm not sure what the boys were looking at, but they were looking at it intently.

WHEW! Busy weekend!

But it was a nice one at least. Wasn't too sure on Saturday morning as the weather had rolled in Friday night. We left the alarm on, so it went off at 7am Saturday mornign to give us plenty of time to get up, showered, breakfasted, coffeed (most importantly) and the car loaded up for the CITO. Still ended up getting there 20 minutes late LOL. No problem, there were a few other folks who straggled in later. When we left Moscow the sun was out, it was cloudy when we got to Moose Creek, but then the sun showed up and the day got beautiful. My camera crapped out, every pic is over yellow. Not sure what happened, but it had gotten soda splashed on it a few days before so we think something may have gotten fried :( Hubby is hoping we can figure out a way to fix it. It's a good little camera. Moose Creek was pretty clean, there wasn't that much garbage to pick up, but we managed to find some and it was a great day to be out hiking around the reservoir. I was seriously wishing I h

We have achieved tent!

Hehehehehe. Hubby picked up the tent yesterday and I set it up after work. One person can set it up, but two is better. It's nice and big and the porch is nice, so once the weather starts staying nicer we can do the camping thing. Hubby wants to pick up another battery for the CPAPs just to make sure we could get thru a weekend no problem and also a generator for charging if need be. I do want to look at getting a double height air bed down the road so we can avoid the having to get up off the ground phenomena that a regular air bed would require (unless they make cots in a double, in which case we can get a cot and then a regular air mattress for on top). I can wait to go camping. Didn't get on my bike last night, the effort of setting up and taking down the tent was a serious work out all on its own LOL D wasn't able to get to our lawn yesterday, he spent 4 hours on his and didn't get it finished. The grass was so thick and the blasted lawn mower kept dying and he had

It's too darned nice out!!!!!

Weatherfox is reading 68F and while there are some clouds rolling in, they are the really high wispy ones. I WANNA PLAY OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost told hubby to take me home after my appointment, but that dad blasted genetic work ethic wouldn't let me :P Oh well, it should still be nice after work. It's really stuffy in the building this afternoon, I'm so tempted to open a window (which would involve a chair thru the darn thing LOL). Went over the results of the Meyers-Briggs test I did. I'm an INFJ, I'm still trying to absorb it all, even tho she went over it with me. I just need time to study it and get my brain wrapped around it (and from what she told me, that is exactly what the test showed I would do hehehehehehe). The "I" stands for Introverted, no big surprise here, and extrovert I am not and never will be. She suggested hubby might want to take one of the online versions just to get an idea of what his results would be and then we

I did it!

I got back on my bike last night. I rode almost to Palouse River Drive (okay, not very far, but with the exception of the attempt last year I haven't been on a bike since 1996 so did pretty darned good) and part way back before my knees screamed uncle. It was a good start. I also hauled the old lawnmower out and gassed it up. Started on the first pull and I let it run a bit before turning it off and hauling it next door. D will mow both our lawns today. I mentioned to hubby I could work on dad's to get it running and he was very quick to say we'll save up and take it to Pat's and have it done properly hehehehehe Speaking of today, it's going to be another nice one. It was 50F when I walked out the door and I almost turned around and called in a "mental health I gotta work in the garden" day LOL. If hubby doesn't remember I'll remind him later to open up the living room if he gets home. When we got home last night the place was stifling. Pretty soon

'Tis time!

The lawn is growing like crazy, so it is time to haul out the lawn mower. D from next door has volunteered to mow my lawn for me, I just need to get my lawnmowers running. I think the little one should be fine, just needs gas, I'll look at it tonight. The one I inheritied from Dad desperately needs work, it blew a gasket a couple years ago. So either it goes into the shop to get fixed, or I break out the tools and do it myself (I can feel the poor thing quaking in fear from here LOL). I can take it apart fine, I just can't guarantee it will go back together hehehehehe. So we'll probably have it properly done by an expert. Did chicken wraps for dinner last night, wanted something easy. I have leftovers for lunch. I cut some boneless, skinless breasts into bite sized pieces, sprinkled them with a packet of ranch seasoning and then baked them. I then put some of the chicken into the large flour tortillas (have to put more on the shopping list), sprinkled them with feta and YUM

I see

TomKat has sprogged . I predict serious therapy in the future for this poor kid.

Oh jeeze!

I may have made mention of Rum Tum making himself comfy in other people houses, I hadn't realized how comfy until J sent me this note this morning: "Does this little darling ever poop outside? I'm just wondering. He was pretty funny this am when he was scratching and meowing at the door. I opened it to find out what the ruckus was and he beat feet to the litter box. When he was done he came out and sat down to munch a bunch. On the way out of the bathroom he had such a relieved look on his little kitty face. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just sharing something I found very cute and unique to Rummers." SIGH!!!!! I had to wipe the coffee off my monitor when I first read this. Silly cat :D

Another sunny day

YAY!!!!! Very little wind so it is almost toasty warm :D Okay, not quite, but I got away with not being too cold wearing a light jacket into work. So we hit Shopko last night after work, managed to get hubby two new pair of slacks and two new shirts and he's not feeling at all guilty. He always feels guilty if we spend money on him for some reason. But now he has plenty of more professional looking clothes instead of sweats and t-shirts, which are fine for crawling under desks and tables hooking up cables, but not so good when in someone's office working on getting people's computers fixed. We outfitted him with the new stuff this morning as he is down in Lewiston working on a couple client's computers. We also picked me up a couple new shirts, one white fashion T with pink flamingos and another pull over blouse with cleavage hubby loves :D I had hoped to pick up a couple tank tops and plain color shells, but the only tanks they had were spaghetti strap ones and the she

Gotta quit reading the news

It's getting damned depressing. Tho their finally finding those two little boys will give the family closure, it is still very sad. As much as I find the details of crimes to be very facinating (I continually wish the photos from the Jack the Ripper case were of better quality in order to see the crime scenes better), there was no need to give all the details of what happened to Jamie Rose Bolin in such detail at the press conferences. A simple statement of "she was found murdered under unsual circumstances" should have sufficed, any details could have waited for the trial. WHile I don't believe in executing mentally ill people for crimes, this case is is falling under my "some people are better off dead for the sake of society" heading. On a more up note, I see they had gay and lesbian families at the White House Easter Egg roll and the world is still here. I guess all those fundy doomsayers were wrong that the world would end if non-straight families pa

Sunshiny day!

Tho a bit chilly, but the sun is out. Woke up to snow on Saturday, that was a big surprise. Luckily it only stuck around in the mountains where it's added to the snow pack. Saturday we grabbed B from next door and headed down to Lewiston for shopping. She needed to get away for a while. She does taxes for people part time and REALLY needed a break after finishing them up this week. We hit Costco, managed to get in and out spending only $70, mostly becasue we didn't need to buy any meat. I did pick up more feta, shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar. We bought a bag of the Kirkland kitty chow for the other neighbors since Nicky and Rum Tum insist on thinking they can just eat when and what they want over there :P I'm hoping that if Rum Tum discovers they have the same food, he'll stop eating there, as it was, the D brought the little snot home late Sat night after Rum Tum had eaten his fill and was settling down over there for the night LOL I have to keep reminding hi

Getting there

It's almost the weekend YAY!!!!!! Hit Safeway, got two hams, one is in the deep freeze and the other is in the fridge awaiting baking this Saturday. Ham sandwiches MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Have to get my rear in gear and get more bread made. Hubby has more money coming in, so we'll definately try for a couple more. Picked up some bagels and tried out the toaster oven. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM properly toasted bagels with cream cheese, total heaven hehehehehe. I will have to work out the timeing on it tho, when it toasts, it TOASTS! It does have a Pop Tarts setting, so I think that would be good for toasting hubby's bagels since he doesn't like his bread products too terribly toasted. Darn, I don't think we won the lottery :( I really should check my numbers once I get home to see if we won anything on the last couple of tickets. I have a specific set of numbers we play, then a quick pick, have to check the quick pick numbers. I see someone in Boise won $200,000. Now that

SCORE!!!!!

I'm now the proud owner of a Toastmaster toaster oven from the local Freecycle list :D Ever since I killed my old one, I've been wanting another. There are times when you just need a toaster oven and the regular oven is just too much. Now I can toast bagels again hehehehehehe. Not sure where I'll keep it, but it's a nice compact little unit, so I'll figure something out. Ended up not eating lunch today. I'd hoofed it over the hill at lunch to meet the person who had the toaster, she works on campus too and had brought it in. By the time I got back I was wiped and the thought of ramen was totally nausiating, so I read instead. Luckily we have the Outstanding Student Awards this afternoon and one of our students is getting one, so I'll be going and they have munchies there. We'll hit Safeway on the way home and pick up a couple hams, they have them on for 88 cents a pound, limit of two. Work it right we get two today and two more this weekend. Thank goodne

A mid-week funny for the ladies

Dear Kotex: I recently noticed that the peel-off strip of my panti-liner had a bunch of "Kotex Tips for Life" on it. Annoying advice such as: Staying active during your period can relieve cramps. Avoiding caffeine may help reduce cramps and headaches. Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated and feeling fresh. Try Kotex's other products - blah blah blah . . . .. Obviously the person behind this was someone who has never possessed a functioning set of ovaries. Go ahead and tell a menstruating woman TO HER FACE that drinking 6-8 glasses of water will help keep her feeling fresh. See what happens and report back. I'll wait. While you're at it, dump out the coffee at work and remove the chocolate from the vending machine. I garan-friggin-tee that the first responders will be females who just ovulated. Look, females don't need or want tips for living on feminine hygiene products. Younger girls are already hearing "helpful" crap like that from

My cat has gone insane

Nicky for some reason has been acting very, very strange. I'm used to kitties following me into the bathroom, they figure they have a captive audience to get scritches from. Okay, I can live with that. Nicky has decided that he HAS to jump into my sweatpants while I'm sitting there. HUH?!?!?!?!?! Sorry, I refuse to get a pic of this behavior, I'll take all sorts of pics of the kitties, but here I will draw the line :D But back to Nicky. I don't know why he does this, it started fairly recently, he's done it to hubby, but this is just too weird for words. Anyone know a good kitty shrink? But back to Nicky again. Once out of the bathroom, in the bedroom I hear a noise to discover Nicky is now perched on top of the door. SIGH!!!! Just once in my life I would like to have a normal cat (then again, is there such a thing as a NORMAL cat?).

How they got here

GAHHHH!!!

Not ready for a new week, I could use a few more days of sleep hehehehehehe Took an ambien last night, still a little fuzzy today. It being raining and ick today isn't helping. Fairly low key weekend. Saturday was pissing down rain pretty much most of the day, so didn't get anything done outside. Did some shopping, gotta remember to NOT go the the grocery stores on Mom's Weekend, I was a good girl, I didn't kill anyone who started to annoy me :D The weather was pretty nice on Sunday, I was able to open up the house and get some fresh air in. We also hauled the recycling to the center and got it dropped off. Did the chinese buffett for lunch on Saturday, there are times you just gotta find a place where someone else does the cooking and there is lots of it. Their General Tso's chicken is very yummy and so is their black pepper chicken. Good race yesterday, tho my boy Jeff didn't do well :( Actually watched it within a couple hours of the start time hehehehehe. Hu

Made it!

Just a few more hours and it is the weekend. We really need to lobby for a 2 day work week, getting paid for 5 of course and have 5 day weekends. It would be so much better :D The sun came out late yesterday. I wish I could say I went for a walk as soon as I got home, but I was totally wiped and curled up on the couch with a bag of sourdough pretzel bites and a container of bacon flavored cheese stuff. YUMMMMM!!!!! We'd hit the dollar store on the way home and grabbed munchie stuff since we were pretty much out at home. I had no energy to even think of cooking, so hubby was on his own for dinner. Thank goodness for canned beans and hot dogs hehehehehehe Rum Tum is channeling Mister Kitty. He decided he HAD to see outside and broke several slats on the one set living room window blinds. Just like Mister used to do. We'll have to see if Shopko sells them since we are still managing to successfully avoid Wally World. Also have to do something about Rum Tum's habit of knocking

Sometimes I just want to beat people into a pulp

Really, how hard is it to stand to one side of the elevator doors and wait for people to get off the elevator before you go barreling in! Jeeze! SIGH! Okay, it's almost Friday. I can survive another day and a half and hopefully don't beat the crap out of someone :P Yes, I am in a mood. The weather is cold, icky and windy out and that isn't helping. Not being able to sleep thru the night isn't helping either and we won't be able to pick my Ambien CR up until tomorrow :( On the plus side, we've determined I have been having full blown panic attacks whenever I have to get up in front of people to give any kind of talk all these years, which I've just called stage fright this entire time. I also have a slight social phobia. Okay, we'll work on that too. It's nice to know I'm definately not nuts for feeling like that when I have to be in front of people. It is bad when it happens in front of one's coven mates. I panic if I'm a quarter, I REALL

You'd think I'd know better....

My tummy hurts. I KNOW I don't get along with onions, so what do I do, bring the leftover steak I did on Monday night that I loaded up with the leftover carmelized onions I made for lunch today. OOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW :( But they were so tasty and went with the steak so well. SIGH!!!!! Today it's been alternating between rainy and icky and foggy and icky. We need the rain, but I need SOME sun. I'm hoping my seeds don't get washed away, tho I have enough to re-plant if I need to. Hubby has been busy downloading all the stuff we have on the DVR, the Good Eats episodes and some movies. He'll get those burned to DVD so we can watch them when we want. Eventually we'll be collecting al the movies I currently have taped on VHS, either on pro copy (preferable, with all the extras) or download and copied onto DVD and then we can start getting rid of the 500+ VHS tapes I taped over the years. The older ones are already degrading, so I should figure out what movies a

Success!

The addition of the sesame oil was what the cassoulet needed and it was yum. With all the yummy food at the luncheon I still have about half of it left. If I'm not feeling creative tonight, it will be dinner, along with what's left of the sourdough bread. So here is the recipes: Cassoulet: 2 small - med onions, quarterd and sliced 2 tbs butter pinch kosher salt 2 lbs dried beans, soaked 1/4 lb bacon 1-2 lb pork loin, cubed 4 cups turkey stock 1/4 cup white wine 1 bay leaf ground pepper 3 tbp tomato paste 1 heaping tsp of chopped garlic 3 tbs sesame oil Sort beans for stones and rinse. Place in pot and cover with water up to 2 inches over beans. Bring to boil, remove from heat and cover and let sit for 1 hour (beans van be soaked over night in cold water). While beans are soaking. Quarter and slice 2 small onion. Add butter to 8 qt dutch oven and add onions with a pinch of kosher salt. Sweat over medium heat until golden brown and sweat. Remove from pot and set aside. Coarse sl

The Big Fat Carnival continues

The second Big Fat Carnival is up on This ain't livin' . Lots of great links to some great reading.

Blech, blech, blech :P

Really didn't want to get out of bed today. I finally did to discover it was foggy and icky out. It most definately ISN'T helping my mood any :( Fog has finally lifted, now it is dark and rainy. Today is the day for the Literary Luncheon, my cassoulet is in the slow cooker in the break room kitchen. I added sesame oil, hopefully that will add that last little note it was missing. I'll pop in on my morning break to give it a gentle stir. Coming into work this morning there were 2 city police cars, 2 sheriff's dept cars and an SUV stopped on Palouse River Drive right past Mountain View. Not sure what was going on. There probably won't be anything in tonight's paper, they don't seem to be big on actually reporting local news. Speaking of news, I see there is another instance of stupid zero tolerance in a school. Seems a kid got to school and realized he had a Swiss Army knife in his pocket, so he immediately turned it in and now the principle has supended him

I hate time changes

It really screw me up. Granted my bod said we went to bed at 10:30pm, the clock said 11:30pm and when the alarm went off at 7am this morning my bod was going "Wait a gosh danged minute, it's 6am!!!). It's going to be a few days til I get used to this. I never had this problem when I was younger, then again, I was usually out partying on Saturday nights and slept most of Sunday so I never noticed LOL. The cassoulet came out pretty well, tho it still needs something taste wise. Half is in the fridge for tomorrow, there is still a bit left from dinner last night. Hubby thinks it needs worchestershire sauce. I must admit, it did add to it when hubby sprinkled some on his portion, but even after it had a chance to mellow, it was still overwhelming in flavor. I may add some white basalmic vinegar to the cassoulet I bring tomorrow, since I don' think it would have time to really cook off the alcohol from any additional wine. I'll be bringing the 4 qt slow cooker and get i

Hmmmmm! Don't look at me, I was minding my business, then those furry yappy things came out of no where and the next thing I know I'm up here! Ya know, the view isn't too bad. Next time, I think I'll try the tree with lots more branches. Sheesh, you couldn't send the fire department! Make me do all the work climbing down :P

Race day!

Hehehehe, just now watching the preshow, so no one tells me who wins :D Got nothing done yesterday, just too icky and gloomy. Today is nicer, the sun is out and it is warming up. I've a cassoulet in the oven, half is for dinner today the rest will be for Tuesday's luncheon. If it turns out I'll post the recipe a bit later. Still have to do the bread. My bread hasn't been turning out as well as it should this week, has to have been the weather. I'll be making a couple loaves of sourdough today to go with the cassoulet. Two more clocks to re-set, the big microwave, the oven, oh, three I almost forgot the thermostat for the furnace :P I always forget that one.

Brrrrr!

So glad I did my garden stuff yesterday, today is windy, very overcast, cold and wet. Temp WAS 42F a little while ago, is now 39F. I don't hink I'll be doing much outside today hehehehehe I can see where FlyLady's admonishment of getting up and getting dressed right away can come in handy. I was up and surfing with a cup of coffee when there was a knock on the door. It was a client of hubby's dropping stuff off. Hubby was still in bed (he was up til 4am working on said clients computer). I was in my nighty, so had to grab a bathrobe to answer the door and then leave client outside while I got hubby up. :P Okay, I wasn't expecting anyone who wasn't an immediate neighbor on my front porch on a Saturday morning. If it had been B, no problem, she's seen me nekkid in the hot tub. Me in a nighty isn't a problem LOL Work out well, we may be getting a new set of steps for the front porch. The guy is into bartering, our front steps are in need of serious repair (
