Happy Halloween everyone!

Samhain bonfire

Weekend is almost over, WAAAHHHH!!!!!!

Weekends are way too short. Did Samhain last night, a very good time was had by all. I got some video footage of the bonfire and a lot of digi-pics. I'll be putting the vid on YouTube and some of the pics on Flickr and some on a blog entry. Still having problems uploading vid to YouTube, we are having to move the modem all over the place to find a good spot. We had it taped to the back door and then we insulated the door. We think it actually got overheated, not sure, so hubby pulled it. We need to re-seal the insulation on the door. The modem is now in the north living room window, if this helps with the problem, I'll shrink wrap the window as we had to take the foam insert out. At least we'll have more light coming in. Speaking of light, we are investing in full spectrum/sunlight compact flourescents. I currently have one in my lamp next to my spot on the couch and we have one in the bedroom we'll put on a timer to go on in the morning when the alarm goes off to help

GRRRR! Blogger is trying to drive me nuts!

So is YouTube. Spent half the evening last night trying to upload a video to YouTube and some photos to JeanC's Kitchen blog and either they kept timing out or taking 15-20 minutes to load a photo. Then my computer joined the act and rebooted before I could at least save the post with a few of the pics. Not sure if the upload problems were on the sites end or if our ISP is having problems as most of the other sites I was reading were doing fine. Finally got around to watching the Bank of America 500 race from two weeks ago. %&^^#$%@# recording stopped 20 laps from the end, so I didn't catch who won. Was sad for Jeff, I KNEW those announcers shouldn'at have said his luck had gotten better, two mintues after his engine exploded. GRRRRRRRR!!! I even knocked on wood when they said that, but oh well. Hopefully his did better at Martinsville. We started watching it to see if they recapped the previous weeks race, but &%^$%# NBC started the race coverage right before the g

Almost Friday!

Weekend is almost here hehehehehehe. Currently waiting for dinner to get done and watching Heros. Not sure if I like it or not, didn't catch the first episode so a few of the charactors are a bit of a mystery, like the woman with the kid in Vegas. I'll catch a few more episodes before deciding. Dinner is what I'd planned for last night. Last night we went to the chinese buffet. Hubby was feeling the need for chinese, so off we went. Well, dinner is almost ready, so time to toddle off.

Tuesday update

I hate it when my brain derails halfway thru doing something. Had another presentation last night, thought it would be easy since it wasn't formal and no power point. WRONG!!!!!!! Had a serious Graves' brain derailment halfway thru and I had no clue what the heck I was talking about. Hopefully I can do better with the written version of the presentation. Oh well, I have until 11/13 to do the next one. In other news, I really, really didn't want to wake up this morning. The problem with getting out of class at 8:30pm is by the time I get home and do dinner I'm not ready for bed at the usual time, so I end up staying up WAY past my bedtime. Oh well. Need to figure out dinner. Going to do something with chicken. Been a bit on a Thai kick lately, need to think of something a bit different. Sunday night I sliced some beef and sauteed some minced garlic and the beef in a bit of oil. Added some pad thai sauce and a bit of tom yum sauce. Let that simmer a bit and then added a c

Blerg!

I am feeling like a total slug today, it is amazing I am getting ANYTHING done. Didn't get to bed until 2am this morning and yesterday was a busy day. We headed down to Lewiston/Clarkston to do some shopping. Hit Rad Shack (actually hubby did, i went next door to the pet store to coo over the puppys, kittens and rats). Then up the hill for gas at Safeway, we had 10 cents off a gallon, so we got it for about $2.40 a gal. Then acrss to Shopko and looked around there. Then it was on to Costco here I'd hoped to get some lunch. Get to Costco and their food court is under remodel. So we went in to shop first and hit the freebies. Get out after buying chicken, cheese, Johnny's garlic ceasar seasoning, calcium supplements and a few other items. Went to their temp food court and got one whiff of the hot dogs and my tummy said no way (I was really wanting pizza. Costco has the BEST pizza around). So we decide instead to hit a little place down the road called the 410 Drive in. Nice l

GO IRELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asylum reportedly denied for WSU crash fugitive He's FINALLY going to come back and stand trial. I am so glad he was turned down, that law was NOT written to allow murderers to escape justice and his trying to abuse it is as sick and sad as his trying to avoid facing the victims and surviving family members of the people he killed when he drove drunk.

Chilly, but sunny Saturday morning

Finally the weekend, Monday stretched out most of the week. GRRRRRRRRRR But it is finally Saturday. Yesterday was Vandal Friday, so I wore a black tank and a yellow jacket (school colors). I don't have any "Vandal gear", don't plan on getting any, not really into t-shirts with logos anymore. But I will wear the school colors. Check out my YouTube page if you want to see the outfit. I am rather pissed at myself. The marching band (not all of them) came into the lobby yesterday at lunch to play the Vandal fight song in prep for today's home football game. I thought I'd gotten them on my digicam, but I guess I didn't hit the record button right, so no footage. WAAAHHHH!!!!! One member had a great t-shirt that said "Boise is NOT a state!" The game is against our state rivals, Boise State University. Sorry, even tho I'm not into sports much, they are still a jumped up cow college with delusions of grandeur hehehehehehe. How's THAT for school p

Friday funny

COURT DOCKET ACTUAL AUSTRALIAN COURT DOCKET 12659 ---CASE OF THE PREGNANT LADY A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested. The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself. The man replied, "Well your Honor, it was like this: When the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are Coming' and I grinned." "Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, ' Logan 'S Liniment will reduce the swelling', and I had to smile. "Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, "William's Big Stick Did the Trick"

Ooookkayy....

From the police blotter: Latah County Sheriff Tuesday: 11:58 pm - A 48 year old Potlatch man was arrested for driving under the influence at the Silver Saddle Bar in Potlatch. The man was reportedly trying to physically remove his wife from the bar after she allegedly flashed people at the bar. A sheriff's deputy spotted him driving in the parking lot, but he said he couldn't get out of the vehicle because he was completely naked. He was arrested after police officers gave him a blanket. You gotta LOVE living in rural American hehehehehehe

Out and about

Here's a vid I did yesterday at afternoon break:

No trial for Duncan

After rejecting a plea deal form Duncan's lawyers last week it looked like the trial would happen and Shasta would have to testify. Late last night jury selection was postponed and a special hearing set for this morning. News now is Duncan will plead guilty to the Idaho charges. The death penalty is still on the table, if he doesn't receive the death pentaly in the federal case against him.

Puttering along, doing a bit here and there.

I'd like to give a shoutout and thanks to Dave Oliveria at Huckleberries Online for the link to my Blogger version of the Cat House blog from his. Been a bit busy so far today, been processing the last of my tomatos, both dried and roasted. I've also used one of the gluten free mixes to make a chocolate cake to take to Circle tonight. It is actually a muffin mix, bu I used a bread pan since I didn't feel like messing with a muffin pan. Smells yummy, tho i do need to work with the mix more, it took longer to bake then the directions said and I think it is still a bit gooey in the middle (which I don't mind, I like gooey, not sure about everyone else, but it still looks good). Posted pics on my kitchen blog . Definately getting into the YouTube groove. Currently posting a couple little vids I did this monring, mostly of the tomatos and what I had for lunch hehehehehe. Giving SERIOUS consideration of maybe doing little cooking vignettes to post on YouTube I can then post o

OH JESUS TAP-DANCING CHRIST!

Fugitive Russell seeks asylum I can't believe this SOB is trying to pull this. Okay, wait, yes I do, the slimey, little coward is trying to avoid having to come back and pay for his crimes. The sniveling little wimp keeps crying about how poor wittle him will be abused and alone in prison. Let's ignore the twit got ripping drunk and KILLED 3 people and injured several others. I saw pics of the cars after he smashed into them, I'm suprised there was ANYONE alive after that. Sorry Freddy boy, you committed the crime, then you sucked you friends into helping you avoid trial and jail, now you gotta do the time. Get your ass back to the US and stand up in court like man, not a snively little coward that you are.

In local news

Kootani County Prosecutor Bill Douglas denied a request by Joseph Duncan's lawyer to cop a plea in exchange for a life sentence instead of going to trial with the death penalty on the table. I must admit I am conflicted. I was to see the slime up against the wall in front of a firing squad, but then again, I'd like to not see poor Shasta having to be in the same room with the slime while testifying. How about a compromise, take the plea deal and then put the slime into the general population and stand back. "Life" in prison will be a matter of minutes. In the meantime the judge in the case has imposed gag orders in order to give Duncan a chance at a fair trial. Frederick Russell lost his appeal in the Irish Supreme court to try and avoid being sent back here to stand trial for the deaths and injuries he caused from driving drunk.

Tripping merrily along.

Did do chicken and potatos for dinner last night, tho not as I planned. We hit Winco and picked up their fried chicken dinner meal: chicken, 2 sides and rolls. It was soooooo good and I didn't have to cook. I really didn't feel like anything except BLAH by the time I got off work, so that worked out. We hid out in the bedroom and watched the Talladega race and ate fried chicken and had a nice relaxing evening. I was seriously bummed Jeff Gordon has such a bad time, but the end of the race had me seeing red once hubby pointed out what happened. Last season hubby nicknamed Brian Vickers "Viscious Vickers" for some of the stunts he pulled. Well, he certainly lived up to hubby's expectations (or down to hubby's expectations as the case may be). That was a lousy thing to pull, esp on your own team mate and then try and claim it was accidental. Not when we watched the footage in slow motion. At one point while they were interviewing VV in the winners cirle, I sudden

Tuesday

Can't think of anything clever for a post title. Had a nice 4 days off. Managed to get my cold frame mostly done, I've got the battered thumb to prove it LOL. A screw stripped as I was putting it in so I got miffed and went after it with a hammer. And promptly missed the nail and bashed my left thumb. Missing some skin on the knuckle and put a most interesting blood blister in the inside of my thumb. The overall swelling is finally going down. But the frame will be nice once I get it finished. Since the top is so big (9'X4') I'll hinge it to the shed and install a pully to lift it open. I'll finish it this weekend and I can get my seeds in at the same time. It will be really nice to have it in place for a very early spring planting. Been having fun with YouTube. Got a few vids of the kitties I need to edit down since they refuse to be cute on demand. Silly kitties! Found a praying mantis in my garden, got some vid of that, along with the sudden appearance of Rum

Friday

So here it is Friday, I'm at home instead of halfway across Oregon on my way to the coast. Oh well, some other time. Been puttering around today, we'd stopped at Winco last night and picked up some fresh pork hams for 98 cents a pound, so one is in the oven slow roasting as I write. I'll put the other from the package into the freezer and the other two will go into the crockpot at some point this weekend and get turned into shredded pork for the freezer. Picked the last of the tomatos, tho the ones that had turned an interesting shade of beige got left. I've the dehydrator going with sweet onions and I just combined a couple of the trays of those into one and added some of the already ripe tomatos I got the other day. Been playing with YouTube. Did an experimental vid to see if I like the idea of Vblogging. Not sure I like it, we'll see. Since I've had the account for over a week, I can customize my URL, so it is now http://www.youtube.com/JeanCsCatHouse tho t

I have GOT to start buying lottery tickets.

There is a nice property we go by as we come home and it is up for sale and oh it would be so nice. The horse pasture would be perfect for a huge garden hehehehehehe

Rats!!!!

We were invited out to the Oregon coast for a friends birthday this weekend and it looks like we can't go now. Too many bills poured in this last weekend that have got to be taken care of. SNIFF! I haven't been out to the coast since 1977 and it would have been so much fun to walk on a foggy beach with hubby. Oh well, maybe another time (fingers crossed someone decides to give us a ton of money and we can actually make it out there). I'm still going to take the time off, maybe get a bit of fishing in and finally get my outdoor stuff done, or at least started. Sunday night I made pizza. Whole wheat dough, sauce made from some fresh romas, oregon springs, tomato paste, garlic powder, a bit of kosher salt and some Trader Joe's 10 year old basalmic vinegar. Not bad, needed more garlic tho. I sauteed diced chicken thighs in a bit of olive oil, a pinch of salt and italian herbs. I then thawed some carmelized onions I had in the freezer and topped the pizzas with chedder and m

Um.....

There are too many fun online toys out there hehehehehehe. Yours truely now has a YouTube account and I've been busy uploading vids from yesterday. I still have to figure out why the audio has gone to heck on most of them, it is out of sync. But here is one of the vids:

Sunday morning

Image
Sitting here surfing the net and reading mail and drinking a nice mocha (need to wander out and make another). So we got a few things off the deck and out to the dump, hauled a bunch of stuff to the recycling center. Having the Minion was nice as he helped. Got the Minion home and then we met a friend who let me try out one of his M1 Garands. I've been looking for a hunting rifle that I can use to hunt elk with (that is if I can bring myself to kill a deer first, still don't know if I can actually blast Bambi when it comes down to it. But I do want a source of meat that hasn't been pumped full of crap and is utterly tasteless so I am still going to give the old college try). Boy, was that a sweet rifle, definately going to have to get one for myself. Going to check the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) about quialifying to buy one thru them (unless we can find one elsewhere). Here's me: Hubby took mostly video, so I still need to go thru that and grab some screen sho
