Our trip pt 1

Image
Finally got around to processing the photos thru photoshop. So we started off on Friday the 14th after a few stops and starts. We made fairly decent time considering the 15-20 minute wait just this side of Washtucna for road construction. We stopped at the big rest area before Ellensburg for a quick stop and I tried to get a pick of Mt Rainer. Not too bad for a little digicam and some photoshopping: We rolled into Ellensburg to look for a hot spot (which are very rare considering how evryone is saying it's the big thing) and found this great building I had to get pics of: There is this great mural on the side: After our stop in Ellensburg where we also hit the visitor's center for info on campgrounds, we headed off and got a spot at a campgound just before Snoqualamie for the night: I whipped up a dinner of chicken and rice on the butane stove with my cast iron skillet. The next morning we did coffee inthe new Melita we picked up at TriState onthe way out of town and we were go

Home again

Made it home last night, decided we needed a day back to recoup. Today is unpacking the car and doing laundry. Too hot to spend much time on the computer during the day, I'll write more later tonight when it cools off some, we are expecting temps of over 100F today. BLECH!!!!! So later I'll move all the pics off the laptop and run them thru photoshop and post pics of the trip. Off to try and stay cool.

Made it to Canada

Had a nice trip over, tho we spent a lot of time trying to fine hot spots to link into the net to get info and such we needed (like the emails that had peoples phones numbers we'd forgotten to copy to a notepad). So we are here, working on connecting with folk and figuring out what we are doing. Right now we are awaiting our hostess who is cooking breakfast and it is smelling YUMMY!!!! I'll try and post some pics, but I don't have photoshop on the laptop and not sure about positng the raw pics to the blogs, they are awfully big. Have to see what I can do. I think breakfast is ready, will post again later.

YAY!!!!!!!

The skunks have a permanent reprieve (as long as they behave themselves). They've apparently moved out from under the neighbor's trailer and hopefully will move to greener pastures. I am going to have a serious chat with my youngest. J says she say Rum Tum nose to nose with one of the skunks. The skunk did his little stomping move and Rum Tum promptly dropped to the ground and rolled over onto his back. The skunk then turned and walked away. WHEW! I think Rum Tum was looking for another playmate, luckily the skunk decided against it. Rummer can be a bit rough when playing, just what we'd need, him getting too rough and getting sprayed. ICK! So, one crisis averted, for now. I'm glad, I didn't really want to have to shoot them I happen to like skunks and wouldn't say no to having one for a pet (descented and with all their shots of course). When I worked for the wildlife rehab in California in high school we had some kits come in and they were the most adorable ba

PTHHHPPPPP!

Can't think of a title to put hehehehehehe. Things are ticking along fine, we got a good start on upgrading the Geek Cave (hubby's office). Picked up some MDF plywood and had it cut to measure length-wise. I did the final measure and cut width-wise once we got it home. A certain local hardware and lumber store is no longer getting our business tho, everytime we go in we end up dissatisfied with service and all. So we'll check out the other place in town and see if their service has gotten better since they moved into their new location. But anyways hubby now has a better work surface and the sewing table he had been using for a computer desk is now out in my garden work area. Not sure where I'll put it, but I'll figure something out. On the skunk front, they still live (yes, I did say "they", D says he saw two of them the other night). Hubby went out to dispatch the critters, but the rifle jammed, so they had a reprieve. Hopefully we can solve the problem

Very addicting

I just might have to pay for the pro version of Flickr , I've gotten addicted to it the last couple of days and I want to be able to add more sets then the 3 you can do with the freebie. I've started adding more photos I've taken. I've also joined the Flickr group pool for the NewWest online magazine where I can share my photos there. So far today I've gotten a good bit of my garden weeded (with Rum Tums help) and had to scold both him and Nicky about laing on my plants. Nicky seems to love laying on my sugar snap peas. Silly kitty. Working on getting the house in order before the trip, need to start getting things together soon and also clean out the car either later today or tomorrow. I'm going to have to get creative in packing the car, since we'll be hauling a generator, gas cans, the new electric cooler we got last weekend and all our gear, along with Ms Ella so we can do a Canadian photoshoot with her. Dinner tonight will be pizza, planning on chicke

Nature a little too close for comfort

We discovered that the kitty food we've been putting out for the kitty we are trying to tame wasn't just feeding him. J noticed this critter helping itself on her porch last night (the photos were done on zoom, I WASN'T going to get too close):

Whew!

Survived two whole days of work LOL. Now I have 3 days off again hehehehehe. The 4th was nice, went over to friends who are geocachers and hung out with them and some cachers from Spokane. We did a few caches (some meanies made off with several, s those will have to be replaced), found a couple others. Took Ms Ella with us, so she'll have some pics soon on her blog of her latest adventures. Was reading Big Fat Blog the other day and there was an entry about Flickr and the plethora of negative fat photos. So I set up my own account and have started posting my pics with "fat" tags to counterbalance the negative ones. The thunderstorms rolling thru the area have been fizzling out for the most part once they are over us, tho the one this morning was pretty spectacular according to reports from other people. Hubby called while it was raining and I couldn't hear him on the phone it was so loud. of course where I was at the library it was only drizzling outside. A good c

Gotta keep up with my blogs better

Currently sitting in the front yard under the tree blogging on the laptop. Sitting out here with me are Ms Ella, Jimmy the Pink Flamingo and the inflatable palm tree. Ms Ella will be posting her pics later. Going to be another hot day today. Yesterday was a scorcher, spent most of it under the tree and then out at some friends house where it was much cooler. I'll fire up the grill later for dinner, not sure what, probably burgers. Have to hit the store to pick up buns, it's been too hot to bake any. Hubby is holed up in the geek cave with the air conditioner on. My garden is coming along nicely, lots of blossoms on various tomato plants and the bush beans are getting taller while looking at them. Havested some lettuce and spinach the other night for dinner, YUM!!!!!! My peas are sprouting like crazy, can't wait for those. It has been so nice the last couple of days not doing hardly anything. Trying to move my compost pile from one bin to the other, but yesterday it got too
