OW! OW! PAIN! OW!!!

Okay, it took me a while, but I have some broccoli, spinach, lettuce blend and corn salad planted. I also dug up that strip and I now have a goodly sized pile of turf and soil on the empty half of my compost bin. Most of the pile on the other side went on the garden space and the rest will get moved over, later. I do have a very happy garden, every turn of the shovel showed tons of happy, fat worms. I also had a ton of happy fat worms in the compost pile. I swear there was one that was about as thick as a cuban cigar! I MUST be doing something right hehehehehe Now, if I can get some red wigglers I can add them to my porch compost bin and finally get a worm bin going. I am getting some pretty good compost out of it as is tho. At some point I gotta figure out how I'm going to get it to the garden space, it weighs a ton. The pizza dough came out fine, it's resting and rising more in the oven. When hubby finally comes home it won't take long to throw it all together.

FRIDAY!!!!!

For real. Yesterday was spent running errands and in doctors offices. Never made it out to my garden, but the time we got home I was too tired and blech. I'm liking my mental health counselor, even if my mind panics and goes blank when she asks me a question :P We have determined somehting has to happen to make my life happier, even if I don't quit my job and go into something I want to do (even tho I love my job, but I'm in a rut and can't get out. Make sense? LOL). She's also size accepting, I was afraid she'd pop off with "well is you losts XX pounds you'd be happier!" BS. She asked if my weight was a probem, I told no, I was happy with it, I was involved with fat/size acceptance on the web, along with Health at Every Size and she said "Good for you!". She feels as long as one is healthy, one's size is fine, even if it society tells you otherwise. When things get further along I may pass info along to her. Now my regular doc is ano

Hump Day and my Friday!!!!

I'm so looking forward to the extra days off, even if half of tomorrow is dealing with my doc and the mental health person. I'm just hoping the threat of rain will hold off a few more days so I can get started on my garden. I really, really, really need to get out and get my hands in the dirt. Help to lift my mood some. I was looking thru my seeds and I have plenty of brocolli, salad green, corn salad, spinach and some sugar pea seeds to get me started. I do have some tomato seeds, I might look at starting some of those, tho I still plan on just buying the seedlings. I have a packet of peppers, not sure what kind, they are kinda shaped like hearts. My aunt got them thru a fundraiser at the hopsital she worked at (thy were raising money for women's heart health). I think they would look cool in the unside down planters if I can get to grow this year. Didn't have too much luck getting them to sprout last year. Hubby invited B over for dinner last night. I was a tiny bit m

Learned my lesson

Be very, very, very, very, very, very, very careful when trying to cut rocket hot lemon bars fresh from the oven. Every thing slipped and I ended up with my left pinky finger covered in hot lemon goo and then shortly there after my hand wrapped in a towel with little blue ice packs. OW!!!!!! Hubby was wanting something lemony last night, so while we were in Safeway we'd grabbed a box of Krustez lemon bar mix that was on sale and I made it after dinner. It was tasty, but next time I think I'll wait for it to cool a lot more before trying to cut it. Hubby also had a hankering for cream cheese frosting, since he doesn't care for powdered sugar sprinkled over lemon bars, so we picked up some cream cheese and I made some with splenda as a sweetener. Worked wonderfully well, hubby was in heaven :D Did burgers and fries for dinner. I tossed the fries in olive oil and a packet of ranch dressing (need to get more of that SOON) and baked them. I topped my burgers with feta and had th

YAY!!

I've got Thursday and Friday off, so I'll be using comp time for that. Fingers crossed the weather will be nice. It should be warmer at least, in the mid 50s. A co-worker brought me a bunch of empty 2 liter bottles, I'm going to start making some of those upside down planters. Gotta get ready for planting season :D The hambuger and hot dog buns came out fine, tho I manage to burn the top of the whole wheat sandwich bread :P My mind apparently wandered when I was setting the temp and set it for 450F instead of 400F, so the top got scorched. It wasn't bad enough to toss it to the birds outside, just need to trim the top crust off when I make sandwiches. Which I am doing today for lunch. I'll have my usual toasted cheese sandwiches when I don't have any leftovers from dinner, tho this time I'll be fancying them up a bit. After they toast and the cheese melts and before I slap the two sides together, I'll layer on some sliced roma tomato and avacado. YUM!!!!

CH-H-H-H-A-A-A-N-N-GES!

You may have noticed a slight change to this blog. I decided to start playing around with the template a bit, basically deconstructing it over the weekend to figure out how this CSS thing all works. It's not perfect, but the colors are more what I like. I did get smart and the original is backed up up in two places. There are still some elements I need to figure out, but this will do for now :)

Here is the pic of my new toys :) Whie I'm posting, here is one of the Nicky and Rum Tum as I was hauling them into the bedroom to keep them from running outside while I was trying to get KiKi back in the house. Rum Tum is getting HUGE!!!!

Shopping therapy

Hehehehehehe. We went down to Lewiston/Clarkston yesterday and took along hubby's Minion in traning (the Minion is the son of friends who has decided to study being and evil genius at the feet of my hubby), so after we hit Costco, we went to the Dangerous Store and looked at sharp pointies hehehehehehe. A little out of budget, but I finally got a pair of sais. I'll post a pic as soon as I get my 'puter back (hubby is playing Diablo II so I'm on the laptop. I had started todays post on my 'puter, then realized hubby hadn't put photoshop back on, asked him to do so and he's still there). I've been wanting a pair of sais for a while now and when I saw these, I fell in love. They feel so nice in my hands. I just need to find someone to teach me how to properly use them. Didn't do too much shopping at Costco. We got home and a couple hours later realized we forgot to buy the honey we'd gone down there for in the first place :P I did pick up a bag of y

I gotta start being more selfish

I was just checking my leave balances. I have 24 hours of comp time built up from working OT when we had some students not make their shifts for whatever reason or other. I have have 33 days of annual leave built up (we have a cap of 42 days) and I have 78 DAYS of sick leave :P I gotta start using some of it. My family came to America on the Mayflower and that &%^$ Puritan Work Ethic is genetic, I feel guilty if I'm home sick with the flu and not at work. I usually take days off in the summer, tho one year I started doing 3 day weekends in Feb when I was within a couple hours of the cap on my annual leave. I'm thinking I'm going to be taking some mental health days a few times the rest of this semester, starting next week. I now have two doctors appointments next Thursday, one with the therapist and the other with my regular doc. My one co-worker says I ought to just take the whole day, he would. I'm thinking that sounds like a great idea. I'm thinking I'll

A gloomy Friday

But at least it is Friday, two days off to look forward to. Not sure how much shopping we can do, budget is tight again. Have to re-think what I'm doing for the Literary Luncheon. I had planned on a beef dish, but the luncheon falls between paydays and if this one is tight, then I can't get the ingredients I'd need. I do have the ingredients to do a cassoulet using bacon and pork loin. I would need to buy a couple things, but that would be onions and such and I need those anyways. I'm going to make pita bread tonight for dinner. Not sure what we'll put in it, but I'm going to make pita bread LOL Hubby saw a commercial for Taco Time's mahi mahi flatbread and suddenly wanted pita bread with something on it hehehehehehe If you haven't seen this video , see it! I love jugglers and this guy is totally AMAZING!!!! I would LOVE to see him in person. Watched the new South Park episode of the new season. A definate lesson in not pissing those guys off LOL. Not on

Okay, it's official

I'm depressed :P Saw the therapist yesterday, she looked at the paperwork I filled out, looked at me and said "You're depressed!" Okay, good, that means I'm not crazy and feeling icky for no reason :D So we chatted for an hour, I see her again next week and in the meantime talk to my PCP and see about meds. She says with the Graves' it isn't surprising I'm depressed, depression tends to go hand in hand with chronic diseases, and add hubby's health problems up on top of that no wonder :( I have to come up with a plan to work in at least 20-30 minutes of exercise into my schedule. We've got my bike in mostly running condition, just have to put the fenders, rack and baskets back on. Hubby wants to buy me a really NICE horn for it hehehehehehe. I don't think I'll be biking into work and back just yet, I think getting down to the bridge and back on our lane is going to be it for a while :P So the visit wasn't as scary as I'd worked i

I've been tagged!

I've never done a meme before, so this one I was tagged with by Chimera looked interesting. It uses an anagram engine to make words out of whatever you input. In this case one's name and the name of one's blog. My first attempt: Anagrams for "JeanC's Cat House and Shooting Society" Input too long. Sorry, the length of input string is currently limited to 25 letters. It varies depending on the server load. Your input was 32 letters long. Please try again later. "Cat House and Shooting Society" was 2 letters too long. Okay, let's try my name "JeanC": Anagrams for "JeanC" Try the advanced options to fine-tune the anagram results. No anagrams found. :( Okay, tried just "jean" and all you get is "Jean" and "Jane" Okay, let's try "Witch with a gun". Hoo boy, lots of them and at least one word that is not allowed in polite society. Let's see about refining it: A CHUG WITH TWIN A CHUG

A sunny Tuesday

and already 46F outside. Maybe we'll have a nice week, even tho they are threatening rain for most of it. Dinner last night was beef stroganoff over rice noodles. YUM! I cubed some beef bottom round we'd picked up at the store, browned it in olive oil in my CI dutch oven a bit at a time after seasoning it with kosher salt, pepper and garlic powder and coated with flour. It all went back in with the juices, added water, a generous amount of basalmic vinegar, some beef base paste, onion powder and some canned 'shrooms with the juice. Put the cover on and let that simmer for a while. Took two containers of sour cream, mixed a bit of flour into one and then mixed both into the meat and liquid and let simmer a while longer. Cooked up the rice noodles (I know they should be prepped by pouring boiling water over them and let them sit, I can't make that work, so into the boiling water they go and then I drain and they are cooked to where I like them, tho still a little too firm

Oh Dear Goddess!!!!

Why oh why do women try and have relationships with people who are in prison for horrible crimes. It is one thing to have some kind of interest in them, heck, I tend to be a crime junky, usually reading and watching everything on a particular crime that I can that twigs my interest radar, but to try and have ANY kind of relationship with the killers. ICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just hope the Gods see fit to keep this slime in jail and she doesn't take any of her kids to meet him. At least the article indicates there isn't a chance of the two of them breeding.

Blogger is being flaky today. Thank goodness I do have the other journal. Fingers crossed I can get this to publish on the 3rd try. The buns turned out wonderfully well, I doubt we'll ever go back to store bought anytime soon. Considering it is the first time I made them, they turned out pretty well. Here are the hamburger buns: I gave them an egg wash before baking and sprinkled them with sesame seeds. I should have taken a pic of the hot dog buns, they look even funkier hehehehehehe. Taste good tho. Next time around I'll cut the dough so I can get 8 buns out of each single batch. Then they should be a more even size. So for dinner I did burgers, tho I discovered we were out of fries. But with the homemade buns, I didn't miss them: Toasted: with my seasoned burgers, a bit of ketchup and topped with shredded medium cheddar: YUM!!!!! Had a good start for today, the race got off okay, so I'll have it to watch tonight and I switched to my green leather jacket I haven't

WAHHH!!!

Image
The race was postponed because of rain :( So we have the DVR set up to catch it tomorrow when (fingers crossed) they run it. Circle went nicely and I didn't stutter while reciting my half of the dual induction. It was a simple rit, so I didn't have to think about anything complicated. Very nice evening all in all. Going to have to have people send me recipes for food they brought, there was one very yummy rice dish hubby loved and the wheat free Easter cake another person brought was to die for. I have to try my hand at that one. Stopped at Safeway on the way home to buy corned beef, but discovered they only had them on sale thru Friday. WAHHH!! Hopefully we can pick a few up at Winco once we can find a working ATM hehehehehe, they'd had them for 98 cents a pound. We were going to go down to Lewiston/Clarkston today, taking along hubby's minion (he's learning to be an evil genius an hubby is his mentor) and introduce him to the "dangerous store", but alas,

Okay

I switched it so my blogger blog is on BlogExplosion for now. So anyone surfing in thru BE and notice a serous change, you aren't imagining things :D (not sure how to sticky posts, so I'm just going to post date this entry for a couple weeks from now. By then I'll know for sure what I'm doing with my blogs). Edited on 3/16/06 to add: Decided to let my Bravejournal journal revert back to freebie status, so I've been transfering all my blog exchange links to this one, along with the rings I am on.

Dad blasted cat!!!

Something has gotten into KiKi. I know she has a hissy if the kitty box isn't spotless, but instead of peeing and such in the bathtub, she's taken to doing it on the couch. On my side. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR This morning she seriously nailed the buckwheat neck pillow (at least I think it is buckwheat, it has other soothing scent stuff in it). Hubby took the cover into the bathroom to rinse it and I sprayed the heck out of the inner part with febreeze. I may have to open it up and replace the inner stuff. I think I could, I can probably get what I need at the Coop and I have lavendar growing outside, so if I wait later in the year I can add it. Picked up a bottle of sloe gin last night. I'd been having a hankering for it for a while. One of my favorite drinks from college, sloe gin and 7Up. Used lemon lime Shasta soda with Splenda, very yummy and hubby liked it. Only problem is even with the Shasta, it's very sweet and more then 2 1/2 can make your tummy upset :D Hit Winco, w

Happy St Patrick's Day y'all

Hope everyone is having a good Friday. FRIDAY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, it's been a loooong week. Woke up this morning in the wee hours and thought, yay! Saturday, but then remembered it's Friday :( Oh well. FINALLY watched last Sunday's race last night. I took my Jeff Gordon christmas ornamanet and put up on my computer monitor and facing towards the TV. Hubby looked over and said if I tried to mess with temporal reality he'd be very upset. I told him since I didn't know the outcome of the race (I didn't, I'd managed to avoid ALL talk of NASCAR all week), Jeff still had a chance to win LOL. He didn't, but he did come in in the top 5 so I'm happy. Great end of hte race, tho Matt Kenseth shouldn't have been beating himself up about losing to Jimmy Johnson, he raced good and I think if he hadn't had to slow down for a caution, just might have been able to win, even with car troubles. A wee bit of snow on the ground thi

SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE WARNED ME!!!!!

Watched "A Mighty Wind" last night, someone should have told me to lay in a supply of kleenex for the one scene towards the end when Mitch and Mickey sing their song for the PBN concert. By that time, with Eugene Levy's fantastic acting, that song took on a whole new meaning from when they showed the "footage" from their younger days singing that song. Hubby asked me "what?" and I couldn't stop sobbing long enough to say why I was crying. I loved the movie, I'd put it right behind "This is Spinal Tap" in order of their best, followed by "Best in Show" and "Waiting for Guffman". Hubby couldn't get too into it, then again, he didn't grow up listening to folk music and isn't familier with the background. I did, The Kingston Trio and the Chad Mitchell Trio being the most popular in our house. Hary Shearer, Michael McKean and Christopher Guests' charactors, the Folkmen, were based on the Kingston Trio an

New tag board

I'm checking out tag boards for here, that is one feature I love about Bravejournal, that's built in. Currently checking out CBox , their freebie one. So we'll see how it goes.

Seeing double

Decided I like the feature on Blog Roll that shows when the blogs listed have new posts, so I've added in all the blogs I have listed, even tho I have them broken down by subject already, so yes, you are seeing double if you have been perusing my list of links :D

Middle of the week

We finally watched The Chronicles of Riddick last night. WOW!!!!!!! We figured it would be a good romp, we were not disappointed and wonderfully surprised at how good it was. I'm really looking forward to see Vin Diesel in Hannibal when it finally comes out. So, since I had to change direction on the pizzas last night, we picked alternative toppings up at Winco. For hubby I made a ham, mushroom and pinapple pizza and I had a pepperoni pizza. I make my sauce using chopped garlic from a jar, a can of tomato paste, a bit of water, a pinch or two of kosher salt and olive oil. I whizz it all together in my mini food processor and let it meld for a bit. I also added a bit of 10 year old Trader Joes' basalmic vinegar for extra depth of flavor. Since I forgot to have hubby pull the dough from the fridge, I had to heat up the oven a bit to warm and pup the dough in. Once it warmed thru I shaped them into rounds and then discovered I really need to invest in a peel: Since I couldn't

NAP TIME!!!!!

Lunch was good, lots of yummy stuff (good thing since it started at noon and I don't go to lunch until 12:30pm). My bread was a hit, the person who helped do the prepped said she thought it was a commercial loaf when she sliced it (we do have two yummy bakeries in tow, Wheatberries and the Coop ). I think bread of some sort will feature in future special breaks and parties hehehehehehe Now I really, really, really want to go to sleep ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Hehehehehe Talked with hubby, gmail is down on his end. Asked him if he ate lunch (he will forget, esp when he's busy fixing computers), he said he had the rest of the roast. I said fine, then asked "beef roast?". His reply, the roast in the plastic baggie. OOPS! That was the leftover pork loin I'd planned for the pizzas tonight, so we'll have to come with an alternative meat topping for them. We have to hit Winco anyways for dutch processed cocoa powder (I discovered I was completely out last night E

Another "I can't think of something clever to title the post" post

LOL, brain death continues into Tuesday :P So, managed to survive Monday okay, so the rest of the week should go fine. Watched "Dark Fury" last night. It was about a half hour long, neat little story line, great animation and sets up some links for Chronicles of Riddick. We did start Riddick, but I realized 10 mintues into the opening I really needed to be in the living room WATCHING instead of attemptimg to get dinner, bread and pizza dough going LOL, so we watched other stuff we had on the DVR instead and intended to watch it while eating dinner, but hubby's client who was dropping off a laptop was over an hour late and our one neighbor had a computer problem. So, no Riddick :( Good thing dinner was somthing I could simply turn down and continue to cook, since we didnt' get to eat until after 9:30 :P I braised a piece of chuck roast in the dutch oven with kosher salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika and then added some worchestershire sauce, basalmic

I hearby declare it a full blown pink flamingo day :P

Image
Had a heck of a time waking up, tho taking a couple acetominphen PMs about 11:30 last night may have had something to do with it, but I've been BLECH all morning, so out came the pink flamingo undies, necklace and earrings. The pork roast for dinner was totally yummy, still have half of it for dinner either tonight or later in the week. I'd used the electric knife to slice it thin and hubby did sandwiches with it. I had pulled out some cheesy mashed potatos from the freezer and those tasted good witht he pork. Was half tempted to use the pork for lunch this week, but I'll hold off. Processed the hamburger into patties. Seasoned them with the Johnny's garlic ceasar, Johnny's seasoned salt, onion powder and worchestershire sauce. The KA mixer is really making it easier to mix everything up. So I now have a couple big ziplocks of hamburger patties in the freezer. I need to make another loaf of bread, I'm thinking of maybe doing a double batch and use half to make h

Alternative Spring Break : "This spring break, over 60 University of Idaho students will spend a week on the warm, Southern beach. But they will not be basking in the sun or sipping drinks with paper umbrellas. Instead, these dedicated students will assist with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort by volunteering with Community Collaborations International, a not-for-profit organization that aims to assist communities affected by disasters. From March 11-18, the ASUI Volunteer Programs will take 63 students to Waveland, Mississippi, on an Alternative Service Break. Throughout the week, student volunteers will participate in diverse reconstruction and volunteer support activities, such as debris removal, construction, painting, floor and window installation, and building repairs."

Sunshine!

More or less, I had the inserts out of the living room windows yesterday and had a nice sunny living room. I really needed that. Even had the windows open for some fresh air :) We did make a trip down to Costco yesterday for cat food, got enought TP and paper towel to last half the year :D Picked up a 6 lb bottle of honey, with luck we can see about doing a little mead. Picked up a three pack of seasoned pork loins for a treat. 1 was honey chipotle, another is apple smoked and the 3rd is bacon peppercorn. Did french toast for breakfast yesterday, used the sourdough loaf I'm made last weekend. Very, very yummy. I topped mine with some herbed goat cheese. Winco had it on sale for $1.98 when we popped in for chicken on Friday night (and doritos and cream cheese LOL). Made for a really YUMMY french toast MMMMMMMMMMMM This morninng's breakfast was the last of the farm fresh eggs, bacon and toast. Going over in a bit for Ostara planning, so I have a loaf of whole wheat bread going (l

Almost time to run away

Added a blog roll to my blogger journal and deleted some dead links off my Bravenet journal. Still undecided about keeping my journal pro or not. I'll give them until this Monday to see if thre is any sign of a footer and then I'll drop them another note. If I don't hear anything from them about it by next Friday (the 17th), I'll set my Bravejournal to not renew and let it go back to the free version. I was hoping for a warm weekend, but it looks like we'll still be colder then normal. So, no outside chores, except to haul some stuff to the recycler. We have Ostara planning and a potluck on Sunday, so will think of what I can take. I should start working on the cooking blog again, just don't feel like it. Maybe look at figuring out CSS some more, I think I've got it figured out. Who knows, I may come up with a new template for my blogger blog this weekend. Not a clue to what we are doing for dinner, I really don't feel like cooking. If we have any money

YAY! Friday!!!

and I want to throw up. Just called the employee assitance program to get a referal to see a shrink (okay, mental health therapist) and I'm shaking like a leaf and the chili cheese fritos I had for break are threatening to come back up. So I have the names for two women therapists, so I'll call at lunch to see about an appointment. The benefits are up to 8 sessions for free, covered under insurance. So we'll see what happens. On an up note, it's Friday and payday. With luck we can get a bit more grocery shopping done, at the very least buy cat food, we're running low. Watched a very funny Mythbusters last night, it was hilarious to see how many times they could reference flatulance without saying "fart" hehehehehehehe. I tell you, saying "flatus" was a whole lot cruder sounding then saying fart :P Did burgers and fries, tossed the fries with olive oil and a packet of ranch dressing and then into the oven. Very tasty. Leftovers for lunch Okay, d

Yeehaw!

All the posts from my Bravejournal blog have been moved to Blogger. Now I have to decide if I'll renew the pro version of my journal or not. I still haven't seen any signs of the improvements I'd like to see (such as a footer for my journal) or have heard any word back. I finally noticed that Blogger has a search this blog function D'OH! Definate positive points to making Blogger my main journal and letting my Bravejournal go back to freebie status and use that one as my backup. The reason I LIKE my Bravejournal one is I can play with the colors and layout without having to know too much HTML. If I'm in a blue mood, I can switch to blues for the colors. I can easily use pics and such for backgrounds simply by having them hosted either in my Bravenet photo album or on Photobucket and plug in the URL for the pic and voila! Kitty cats as my background. But if I can't do the fine tweedling I want on it, it's not going to satsify my needs to really personalize i

WOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the No Super-WalMart site: "Voting 4 to 1 with 1 abstention, Moscow P&Z denied the Walmart developer request to rezone 77 acres belonging to the Thompson family to Motor Business. The general sentiment of all members was the scale was too large for Moscow and invited the developer to reapply with a mixed use approach that better fits the community." YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another road block in front of Wally World's attempt to build a super center here in Moscow. I doubt they will do much to further pursue the matter, they got their way over in Pullman to build that one, tho the Pullman folk who don't want it will be pursuing appeals there. As I've said before, we have an adequate Wally World here and Moscow does not need a supercenter. In other news, the wind blew in last evening. The snow had started earlier in the day and hubby had to go out twice to brush of the satellite dish as the wind blew the snow onto it just right

I hate Mondays... Oh wait! It's Wednesday!

Actually this whole week has been a Monday stretched out, this morning would have been a good day to stay in bed, between hubby trying to flood the kitchen with the coffee maker (he'd forgotten I'd set it up to just be turned on since I already had two cups of leftovers in the reacter) and my slamming my thumb into the one bookcase trying to get to the wshing machine before it beat itself to death from being off balance :P The one high note is we got our new satellite reciever/DVR yesterday to replace our dying one. So we now can record two shows and watch something recorded (a good thing for Wed nites since Fox moved Bones up against CBS' Criminal Minds) AND it has 100 hours of record time LOL So far the weather has been okay, tho the clouds have rolled in and I think it was trying to snow a little earlier. Hubby is going to weigh down the cardboard out on the deck that headed for recycling when we get the chance. Dinner last night turned out delish, thankfully I managed t

Oh great :P

From the Spokesman Review: High wind advisory in effect for much of region Mike Prager Staff writer March 7, 2006 The National Weather Service today issued a high wind watch for extreme eastern Washington and portions of North Idaho, including the Rathdrum Prairie and the Palouse hills south to Lewiston. Southwest winds gusting to 60 mph are possible across the region with sustained winds forecasted at 25 to 40 mph. Strongest winds are expected along exposed plateaus and in narrow east-west valleys. The potentially damaging winds are being carried by a strong winter storm that dropped out of the Bering Sea on Monday and raced toward the northwest coast of the U.S. this morning. The system was clearly visible on satellite photos that can be seen on the Web at www.wrh.noaa.gov/otx . The storm’s arrival on Wednesday could bring as much as 2 inches of snow above 2,000 feet elevation. Winds are to slam the region overnight Wednesday. In addition, the weather service has issued a w

I GOTTA think of better titles

My brain is too BLERK today to think of anything clever. Got to bed before 11pm last night, still had a heck of a time waking up this morning. Gotta find a better radio country station better. We live in a bit of a dead zone for radio signals, so the antenna for the clock radio is stretched along 3 walls (we added antenna wire to the little one the radio has), but the signal still drifts all over the place. The statino we have it on now is better, it's only partly fuzzy most of the time, but while I like getting music of the 60s and 70s, they don't have enough commercials or other cues to wake me up when the alarm goes off. Or at least keep me awake. Didn't get home until after 7 last night and the pork loin was still partly frozen, so that will be tonight's dinner. Last night I opted for bacon and eggs with toast as a nice quick easy supper. The eggs we got from a friend who has chickens, so they were very yummy. I wish I could lay in a few chickens so I can have my ow

Monday :P

Stayed up way too late last night, needless to say, I'm too darned tired today. The weather being rainy and ick isn't helping matters much. Finally got a couple loaves of white bread baked last night, part of the reason for being up late, that and having slept into almost 11 am or so yesterday. Never did get my laundry soap made, will have to do that tonight since I need to get some laundry done tomorrow. The breakfast burritos came out nicely, tho I think next time I'll make the slices of egg stuff a bit thinner, some were a little thick and were hard to roll up, but they froze fine and reheated fine, so hubby has breakfasts for a week. Pulled a marinated pork loin out this morning to thaw in the fridge for dinner tonight. Lunch today was chili my neighbor made. He'd brought me some yesterday, along with some corn bread. Made a very yummy lunch with some cheese sprinkled in. It was just the right level of heat and spice for me. Had a nice note in my email from Nina Kil

PUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

The Chocolate Rit was wonderful. Lots of partaking of Chocolate and praising of the Chocolate Goddess and God. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Because several members are lactose intolerant, instead of YooHoo, we went with Chocolate Silk, a totally to die for soy milk. I'm one of those weird people who have no problems switching between regular milk and soy with no problems, since I never try to pretend that soy milk is a milk replacement. I happen to like it for itself. I'll also confess I like carob, my mom had gone on an anti-chocolate kick when I was in high school, becasue chocolate was evil that was full of sugar, so she would only allow me carob candy bars LOL. Now, no matter what anyone tries to say, carob is no where NEAR anything like chocolate. Like soy milk I like carob for itself and once in a while, I want a nice yummy carob mint bar and will hit the Coop and pick up a few. So after enjoying chocolate and good company, we decided to hit Winco and do some grocery shopping. With

Friday at last. Hmmmm, used that title already hehehehehe

Not much planned this weekend. The coven is getting together to do the Chocolate Ritual tomorrow night. The last time we did it was back in 2004. It's fun, full of mirth and irreverance :D Didn't get a diffinative answer back from Bravejournal. Just a "we've passed along your suggestion and we value our members blah, blah, blah". Nice. A definate yes or no would have been nice. So I'll see what happens. I've got 5 1/2 months of posts to finish copying over. One thing about it, it is bringing back memories. Re-reading posts I'd completely forgotten about. Brought the digicam to work yesterday. Got a few pics of stuff on my desk and my new chair. I think before I leave I'll take a few more pics around my work area. Decided to sell our friends my car. We'd loaned it to them on a semi-permanent basis, they'd cover tags, insurance and some of the repairs. There was the possibility of seeling it to them after they'd had it for a while if I w

Blerk!

It's been snowing for a good part of the day, but it seems to have stopped. It started off to be a not bad day, in the 40s, sunny and then overcast. As long as it dries up and gets warmer by the wekeend I'll be happy. Just dropped Bravenet a note asking about the possibility of getting a sidebar or footer for the journals so I can move a lot of the elements out of the header. I told them my pro version of the journal was coming up for renewal and if they won't be adding either a sidebar or footer, I won't be renewing it. I'll let it go back to the free version and make Blogger my main journal and replace my Bravejournal one with it on all the blog exchanges I subscribe to. I'll still keep the Bravejournal one, but as a back up. I'm kinda doing that now, I write out the post in Blogger, since it has the save as draft mode I've also been asking Bravenet for for a while. Til I'm blue in the face I swear :P Then I copy and paste it to Bravejournal. Whipp

Happy March 1st :)

Currently 47F according to WeatherFox and no rain. It came down yesterday like a son of a gun, the river near our place was pretty high. The pond across the lane is starting to overflow its banks. Getting really ancy to get out in the garden. Fingers crossed it will be nice at least part of the weekend, tho the weather guy was saying it wasn't :( I've got lots of indoor stuff to do, but I'd like to at least get the beds prepped, esp the front flower bed I never cleaned up last fall. I'm either going to have to start making at least 3 loaves of bread each weekend, or get things set to do a loaf or two mid-week. I might see about doing a loaf of white tonight (unless I get more honey after work, I'm almost out of the last jar my dad had put up years ago, then I can do another loaf of whole wheat). If I go with the 3 or more loaves each weekend, I'll probably do a couple wheat and a couple sourdough and go for sandwich shaped loaves for the sourdough. I'm defin
