Almost Friday hehehehehehe

We splurged last night and got a couple pizzas from Papa Murphy's. We had a coupon for $3 off any family sized pizza and hubby was craving a Hawaiian pizza and since I don't like pineapple on my pizza we also got the special, a family sized Chicago stuffed pizza for $10.99. I've got lunch for a week now :D So we had pizza and beer and watched Wooster and Jeeves DVDs last night. The library has all 4 seasons, so I checked them out, along with March of the Penguins, which I haven't seen yet. Gotta lay in enough boxes of kleenex hehehehehehehe

Hubby has more questions to ask the Clear Wire dealer, so he'll decide in a day or two if we are going to switch over to that for our internet.

Rum Tum has the biggest back feet I have EVER seen on a kitten. He's either going to be a huge kitty or else he's going to be a regular sized kitty with snowshoes for feet

Lousy sleep last night, so I will probably try the Ambien CR tonight instead of waiting another night.

Slowly working my way thru the back strips of Schlock Mercenary, I've made it to march 2004. Hubby is several months ahead of me on the strip now, so I gotta work at catching up hehehehehehe

I guess the Winter Olympics are starting soon. Not planning on watching them. NBC can't cover sports worth a darn and the Olympics are too professional. Since letting the pros in they are no longer worth watching (not too mention when they made the rule to keep Eddie the Eagle out. I LIKED watching Eddie compete, along with those teams who we knew probably weren't going to even come close to a medal, but in our hearts we knew there was a slight chance of a miracle).

On the local front, Moscow City Council passed a Big Box Store ordinance to replace the emergency one. The new ordinance would:

"Moscow's new ordinance establishes two size categories -- first for stores between 40,000 and 65,000 square feet and second for stores larger than 65,000 square feet. Conditional-use permits are required for both, with additional standards set for the second category.

According to the new design manual, guidelines and standards are set for facades, exterior walls, multiple smaller stores within a principal building, detail features, roofs, building materials and colors, entryways and sign standards. There are also guidelines and standards for vehicle and public access, parking lots, the backsides of stores, outdoor storage, trash collection and loading areas, pedestrian and bicycle flow, community spaces and landscaping."

Apparently there was also an attempt to limit the size of a store, but that didn't pass. At least what is now in place should hopefully keep Wally World and other big box stores from trying to steamroll over Moscow and put in a facility most people don't want. We already HAVE a Wally World, they can't keep that place up to spec, so why should we believe they can do better with a superstore. If they want to upgrade, they can do it at the store they have now.

Besides, having a supercenter with a grocery in a town that has seen several grocery stores close because we CAN'T support 4-5 and now have 3 (4 if you count the Coop, but since the Coop is what I call a specialty store with a very particular niche market I won't count it) is totally insane. Not too mention, MORE low paid jobs in a town where they keep building homes that sell in the 6 figures that are sitting empty and neighborhoods with lots that have nothing on them becasue people can't afford the bloody prices. Hubby and I may live in a trailer, but it is at least paid for (AND we have the lowest lot rent in the county). We don't need more low wage jobs opening up, we need to bring in more companies that pay higher wages and will encourage graduates from UI and WSU to stick around after graduation to make money instead of heading to states where they can make a living wage AND pay off their student loans at the same time.

Why are you down on Walmart when you obviously shop at Costco and Winco, both stores that put small stores out of business
