Hehehehe

Nothing brightens ones day like having a foreign grad student try and chat you up :D Had to disappoint the poor boy, let him know I was married.

I GOT MY CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bring in the digicam tomorrow and get pics. My butt and back are currently in heaven, I have full support. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MMMMMMM, donuts.....

Coworker brought in donuts this morning, so I had a chocolate covered bismark to go with my coffee. Raining out, it's been raining on and off since Sunday night. Temps are back into more normal numbers, thank goodness. With luck I can get out and seed in the brocoli and spinach and get them going soon. Finally found my Bar Keeper's Friend. Safeway did have it. Did a test on a pan that has 20 years of baked on ick on the rim, it's going to take a bit of work, but it looks like it will do the job nicely. I'll make a paste to put on and let it sit before scrubbing. I've a few other stainless steel items that will clean up faster. It did a great job on the kitchen faucett. Once I get the sink swapped, I'll use it on the new one to shine it up. Forgot that Sunday I'd put some pork loins into brine, so I had to get them out and bagged last night.Last time I left them in brine too long, they tasted more like ham then fresh pork, so no harm done. I bagged 3 and cook

WAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a conspiracy I tell you!

I can't seem to lay my hands on a can of Bar Keeper's Friend to save my life! Several people told me Winco has it, they keep it near the wine and mixer section, not where you'd expect. I think they have someone run to that section and hide it before I get there, since I can't find it. I even check the cleanser section and none. So, I figure Cash and Carry. Nope, I know we'd seen it there in the past, no luck this trip. The gal suggested Jones Supply, another restaruant supply store, but they are closed weekends GRRRRRRR. Okay, last hope is Safeway. We got to pop out later to get a monitor hubby got off freecycle and I need to get my methamazole (ATDs) and I'll check there. According to the company website, Safeway is supposed to carry it. So does Walmart, but since we've managed to not set foot in there for a good month, I don't want to start now. Didn't have a whole heck of alot of luck shopping in Lesiton yesterday. We actually walked out of Costco

Friday FRIday FRIDAY!!!!!!

And a payday to boot :D Still chilly out, but much better then last week, no frozen pipes LOL Gotta buckle down and figure out CSS. Hubby has one client who needs a webpage, but that one I can do in simple HTML since all he wants is a presense, name of company and contact info, etc. Easy. That one I can toss together pretty quickly and get it up and running this weekend if he gets me the info. Our one friend still wants one for the group she works with, but I want that one to be a little more dynamic. Picked up a chuck roast at Safeway last night, we had to pop in to pick up one of hubby's perscriptions and they had the Rancher's Reserve chuck on for $1.99 a pound. Hubby was feeling steak neptunish, so we also picked up some fake crab along with a few other things. I wasn't feeling in the mood for it, so I did up a box of the rice pilaf (pretty much the only Rice-a-roni I buy, I like it the best), cubed up my portion of beef, browned it just a bit with a coating of flour, s

Yawn!

Very sleepy day and I'm freezing, or at least my fingers are cold again :( So, puttering along, moving posts from Bravejournal over. It's interesting seeing old posts. Managed to move a couple and not cry (re-reading about the passing of one's furchild is hard). It's slow going, but I will eventually get everything moved over. I still haven't decided if I'm going to keep the pro version of Bravejournal or not. The renewal comes up in a couple weeks. I'll see then. I'm going to have to bake at least 2 loaves of the white bread every week. One loaf isn't going to do it, it's too yummy. Dinner last night was sliced pork loin (I took one of the whole ones, cut off what I needed, made brine and brined the other 3 pieces overnight), I braised in a little water, added a packet of ranch dressing and sour cream. Did up a package of Rice-a-roni pilaf. Leftovers for lunch today. Not sure what I'm doing tonight. I've got stuff inthe freezer, I need t

Never hit Bruised Books, decided we didn't feel like going to Pullman. So we hit Winco and Ross. Jokingly told hubby when I went into Ross that if they had a piZza stone for $7 I was going to buy one. They had one for $6.99. Needless to say, I now own a pizza stone LOL. So Sunday night I did the cheesecake. I was a bit impatient, so the cream cheese didn't have a chance to fully come to room temp, so it is a bit lumpy, but totally delish. Here's some pics: I couldn't resist, had to cut a slice before it was fully cooled int he fridge: So yesterday I made bread. I may never go back to store bought bread. I was thinking I needed to get a slicing guide, but several folks have suggested an electric knife to get thin even slices, so since I have one, I'll give it a try (sliced some this morning, couldn't slice an even one and had to use a knife to get it out of the toaster LOL). I made one loaf of plain white and two loafs of sourdough. One sourdough loaf I took over

We finally got water yesterday about 3ish or so. The new heat tape took longer, but we didn't have to worry about the place catching fire. Since we wanted to head down to Lewiston yesterday, we had our neighbors pop over periodically to check the kitchen tap for water coming thru. We didn't want to just leave a tap open and take off since it could have been hours before we got home and we didn't want the pump on the well to continually run. Good plan, it came on and they were able to shut it off and gave us a call. Friday we popped over to Shopko to pick up a new vacuum, we opted for the Shark Pursiut, man that vac sucks, in a vey good way LOL I can't believe how much cat hair and ick it pulled up and I'd vac'd the weekend before. We also got hubby 3 new shirts. Now that business is picking up he needs good work clothes. By the time we got home on Friday, I was feeling seriously ick, achy and cold. Discovered I was running a temp of 99.5F. I ended up in bed by 9

Le freakin' BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Hope everyone is staying warm. We hit 5.2F out at our place this morning and our pipes froze again (WAHHHHHHH!!!!!). Thank goodness I had already set up the coffee maker last night. Just wish I'd taken my shower then too hehehehehehehe. Had to resort to a trick my Grandma Florence taught me, cornstarch thru my hair to at least give some semblance of not being greasy :P Hubby has a call in to a friend to come over and help install new heat tape (federal tax return came in, we can afford the stuff now) and throw a couple bucks at him for his time. Luckily we still have 7 gal of water for emergencies, so hubby has some water for the day. We got a couple inches of snow last night, made for treacherous driving. Intersections were slicker then snail snot, the cops were pretty busy. We're supposed to stay in low double digits thru the weekend with lows in the singles. We had planned on driving to Lewiston tomorrow for shopping, I think we may wait until Monday when things are supposed

Slowly

Slowly moving the archives over from Bravejournal. I started by linking everything here back to the original entries, then I realized I probably should only link those posts that have comments on them since I don't know how to move the comments over easily. So I'll need to go back thru the edit posts on Blogger and take the links out to the ones with no comments :P I was painstakingly redoing the links within the posts for articles and such, then accidently discovered if I copied the whole post and then pasted into Blogger using the Compose, instead of the Edit Html tab, the links transfered. SIGH!!!! I discovered the same for photos. Oh well, live and learn. 500+ more posts to go.

Oh fer crying out loud!

I heard the DUMBEST thing on the morning show this morning. One of the hosts in in Turin Italy for the Olympics and they were doing a story on why there isn't a woman's ski jump competition. Quoting International Ski Federation president Gian Franco Kasper "It's like jumping down from, let's say, about two meters on the ground about a thousand times a year, which seems not to be appropriate for ladies from a medical point of view." ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Exsqueezeme? What in f***ing bulls**t is going thru his mind and I'd like to see where he got HIS medical training (whihc I very much doubt he has). "Not appropriate from a medical point of view" was a pre-20th century way to keep women out of college and most professions, because the poor, poor women just weren't physically or mentally capable of doing any of it(don't laugh, they had "scientific studies" to prove it, along with studies to prove minorities weren't capable of any

Goodbye G'kar, we will miss you :(

Just heard this morning that Andreas Katsulas passed away from lung cancer. He was 59. For me he was the heart and soul of Babylon 5 and always amazed me at how he was able to project such a range of emotions thru the makeup he wore as G'kar, the Narn ambassador on the show.

Happy VD!

Hehehehehe, hope everyone is having a nice day. We've nothing special planned, I'm going to finally cook that blasted chicken I defrosted on Sunday LOL Hubby had to go back to a client's last night after he picked me up, so I tried out my idea of using the KA for mixing the spices into the hamburger. Worked great and I have burger patties int he freezer and we did burgers for dinner, since we didn't have time to stop at the store. Was up way too early this morning. Hubby had to be back at the client's at 8am to get them back on line, he using our wireless modem. Seems Verizon decided to work on their wireless network and didn't think it was important to inform their client base. When a business NEEDS that important access to the internet to help run their business, having the network go bye bye really screws you up. So I had to come in to town early. I was going walk in from their office, but it was 23F out and I really didn't feel like developing frostbite,

Monday, ick!

I didn't get my orgy of baking I was so looking forward to. Finances got screwed up thanks to a "security deposit" Clearwire broadband (we dumped Verizon on Friday and switched) took out of our checking account without telling us about it. Hubby contacted the local distributor to complain since that hadn't been mentioned anywhere in the deal he set up, so hopefully that will get put back soon as that was my grocery money for the next two weeks GRRRRRRR. We had just enough money to pick up a few items to make nachos grande yesterday, along with a 5 lb chub of burger. Recipe in a bit. I did have enough to make a batch of snickerdoodles and I was doing a happy dance the entire time, I don't think I've ever been that happy baking anything. The KA mixer made it so much more fun. I was watching America's Test Kitchen on PBS Saturday and they were using the exact same model as mine making bundt and angel food cakes :D I so can't wait to get more ingredients,

Oh way KEWL!!!!

Rare Giant Palouse Earthworm Discovered Author: University of Idaho Published on Feb 1, 2006, 07:14 The white, lily-scented denizen of the region's fertile, deep soils reportedly can grow to 3 feet long. The rolling hills of the Palouse sprawl across an estimated 2 million acres of north central Idaho and southeastern Washington. Sanchez-de Leon collected the 6-inch white worm from a remnant of Palouse prairie while studying earthworm populations and carbon dynamics in native prairie and retired farmland. Northwest earthworm expert William M Fender-Westwind confirmed the identification of the worm Sanchez-de Leon found last May. His confirmation supported her initial identification and another by earthworm experts gathered for a workshop in her native Puerto Rico in November. "This is exciting," said James B. "Ding" Johnson, UI Plant, Soil and Entomological Sciences Department head. "By earthworm standards, they're pretty cool." "It's good

I LOVE my hubby!!!!!!

Walked into the kitcehn after work last night, flipped the light on, turned towards the stove and found this: My breath immediately left me, my eyes teared up and I wandered into the living room with my hand clamped over my mouth making little noises and pointing back towards the kitchen. Hubby wanders out and said "last week some things came together". The sneak ordered it from KitchenAid last week, it's a factory refurb and it arrived yesterday afternoon. He was surprised there was no shriek, I couldn't, my brain locked up between shrieking and crying and neither was going to happen in great quantitites LOL He was going to get white since I'm going for a 50sish theme in the kitchen, but remember my new kettle and went for it: I wandered around the kitchen last night trying to think of ANYTHING I could inaugurate it with, but couldn't think of anything or have anything. I'm thinking chocolate cheesecake this weekend (I've only been prominsing hubby my

It's getting closer!

Daytona that is LOL 10 days WOO HOO!!!!! This weekend is the Budweiser Shootout, so I need to remember to set the DVR to record it. I SOOOOOO can't wait! Checked with the local pet store on their vaccination clinic. It would be $36 each cat to get rabies, 5 way and leukemia shots. We'd also have to lay our hands on carriers as they don't want loose kitties or even kitties on a leash, esp since there are dogs there. We'll know more if we can get them in after we see about paying property taxes. Hoping we can go down to Lewiston/Clarkston this weekend for a shop. We may have to wait until the tax returns get deposited, most likely in a week-week and a half. With luck then we can go down for a serious shop. I wouldn't mind getting enough to have 2 months worth of entrees in the freezer. Really didn't feel like cooking last night, so we hit Winco and picked up one of their 12 piece chicken dinners, so dinner tonight will be chicken leftovers (if there is any leftove

Strange happenings

If this blog goes wonky in the next few days, it is because I decided to play around with the template and I haven't a clue to what I am doing. I'll paste it into Nvu tonight and see what I can do with it.

Almost Friday hehehehehehe

We splurged last night and got a couple pizzas from Papa Murphy's. We had a coupon for $3 off any family sized pizza and hubby was craving a Hawaiian pizza and since I don't like pineapple on my pizza we also got the special, a family sized Chicago stuffed pizza for $10.99. I've got lunch for a week now :D So we had pizza and beer and watched Wooster and Jeeves DVDs last night. The library has all 4 seasons, so I checked them out, along with March of the Penguins , which I haven't seen yet. Gotta lay in enough boxes of kleenex hehehehehehehe Hubby has more questions to ask the Clear Wire dealer, so he'll decide in a day or two if we are going to switch over to that for our internet. Rum Tum has the biggest back feet I have EVER seen on a kitten. He's either going to be a huge kitty or else he's going to be a regular sized kitty with snowshoes for feet Lousy sleep last night, so I will probably try the Ambien CR tonight instead of waiting another night. Slow

KITTY PICS!!!!!

I really do need to get more of KiKi before she starts feeling left out hehehehehehehe.

Okay

Sunshiny day, dain bread again, but not quite as bad. I think having a beer within a couple hours of taking a sleeping pill is probably not a wise thing. Oh well. Didn't sleep as good last night, so it was either the beer or the Lunesta definately isn't going to work for me. So tonight, no sleeping pill, maybe none tomorrow night, but next round is the Ambien CR. Finished the post for Cooking with Jean C . Not the best post in the world, I'm still getting a teaching blog figured out, so it will be a work in progress. One thing I discovered I really like about Blogger is I can have several posts in draft mode at once. My next post is awaiting finishing touches, so once I have the text to go with the pics I can just post it. If I work it right, I can do several cooking posts on the weekend, get them set and ready to go and then simply post them when I want to. Hubby got the equipment to check out the Clear Wire wireless broadband to try out for a few days. He's impressed

Just talked to my doc

I've gone slightly hypo on my meds, so I'm cutting back to 20 mg of meth a day (as in methimazole :D, I just get a kick out of saying I do meth hehehehehehe. It's the generic of Tapazole). So I don't need to deal with taking the afternoon pill. Makes me happy. It is going to be slow going getting the archives moved over. Have to figure out how to make the blogger version more friendly looking.

Sigh

Gotta figure out how to get smilies on here. Reason I love Bravejournal is lots of smilies and easy to change the color scheme.

Set the alarm clock THEN take the sleeping pill!

Woke up this morning after 8am to find the alarm hadn't gone off because I forgot to set it. I THOUGHT I'd set it, I know I was fiddling with it, but I apparently didn't flip the switch to turn it on :P Oh well, I'd pretty much had every thing more or less ready, the coffee maker was on automatic and I had leftovers from dinner packed up for lunch. Doing a bit better during the day in regards to the sleeping pills, not so dain bread today. Went without one Saturday night and kept waking up about every hour or so. Defininately not good sleep. 1 more night on the Lunesta and then a couple more with out and then onto the Ambien CR. House is slowly FLYing along, got half the kitchen in shape and I can now get to my equipment shelves. Just have to get those re-organized. We can walk around most of the living room now, broke out the Electrolux vac and did carpets. Hubby put the turtle beach capture card in my computer. He'd hosed Windoze on his machine, so until he gets t

Blorp!

2nd morning after trying the sleeping pills. Wasn't sure I really wanted to take another one last night, I was a zombie all day and ready for bed about 8pm LOL But went a head. Only woke up a couple times that I can remember and was pretty groggy waking up. Turned the alarms off since it was Saturday, so woke up more or less naturally. it may just take a few days to get used to them. I'll finish out with the Lunesta just to see and then go back to none to give them a chance to get out of my system and then give the Ambien CR a try. Made french press coffee this morning. Hubby had a link to the coffee geek the lout sent him. I'd actually found that particular column last week when looking for info on french press, so this time I actually reviewed it. Pulled out the french roast Trader Joe's coffee beans my aunt sent us for Christmas and my ginder. I see if we are going to do this on a regular basis, investing in a grinder you can dial what find you want will be a good t

Okay

That seems to be working, tho it is going to take a long time to transfer 800+ posts, some with pics that I will have to transfer to Photobucket since they are hosted on Bravenet and I don' thtink they like them posted to places not on the Bravenet servers. We'll see. I've decided to put the link to the old posts in the post title, I'm not going to transfer the comments over, at least at this point in time. I think I'll work from both directions, newer and older and eventually meet in the middle. I'll also copy new entries to both blogs until I ultimately decide what I'm going to do with both.

Thank the Ghodz it's Friday!

since I'm a total zombie today. Went to the doc yesterday, mostly to get my thyroid levels done and also to discuss a couple things, like my not getting good sleep, even with the CPAP. I generally don't have rpblems falling a sleep, I just can't stay asleep. So she agreed I need to go back to the sleep clinic for a titration since it's been a year since I got the machine and then she gave me some samples of Lunesta and Ambien CR to see if they will help in the meantime. Took 1 Lunesta last night, got to sleep fine, I know I woke up at least twice, once when hubby got up at 4am since he couldn't sleep and the other time when Rum Tum decided my face wasn't clean enough so he was going to take care of that. I think I woke up a 3rd time at some point, but can't swear on that as a for sure. I've been this morning. I finish out the other 3 Lunesta to see how it goes and then try the Ambein CR and then decide if either is going to help. Decided t

Anticipating

just in case Bravejournal doesn't come thru with the suggested improvements to their journal serrvice I've asked for and I don't feel like paying for another year, I've started this one. I just wish Blogger had a way of moving stuff from other journal services like Bravenet does so I could move my archives over. added: Okay, I'm going to see what I can do about moving things over manually, so if things look weird, that's why. Okay, that's not going to work, there isn't a way to back date posts, at least that I can find. Okay, helps to actually READ the help files hehehehehehehe Trying again :)
