SIGH!

Reading the news out of New Orleans and surroundings. Looks like folk are going to be in a bad way there for a while. I can't believe the stories of some of the looting (then again, there are slime who shouldn't be called human out there who prey on others): stealing the cots and water from one hospital, trying to break into a children's hospital where staff and children are trying to stay safe, reports I've seen online (not confirmed) of COPS looting!?!?!?!?!?! Then there is the poor woman who had to ride it out with her hubby who was terminal, couldn't get help and he died while she was trying to find some and then couldn't get anyone to help her take his body to he could be properly taken care of. Luckily she finally found help and he had to pay someone hauling branches to help take them to where she needed to go. Luckily people around the country are working to send help and money. Thanks to Scott of Scott-O-Rama for the banner I have on my header for the Red Cross. He has banners and buttons availble, just click thru to his site and drop him a note if you'd like some.

All the other gas stations followed Tesero's lead yesterday, gas went to $2.799 for regular at most of the stations, tho the Conoco on South Main stopped short of $3 for premium, at $2.999. Checking GasBuddy.com I see prices in places like Pocatello have jumped to $2.999 for regular. Just checked Pullman WA prices and they range from $2.73 to $2.85 a gal for regular. I'm seeing reports from folk I know online that there is gas gouging in places int he south and stations are starting to ration.

YEA GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just checked Gas Buddy for Moscow and they are showing $2.95 a gal for regular at 2 stations!!! We're going to have to check it on the way home, but I'm DEFINATELY hauling the bike in tonight and start working on it. I hope the tires are still in decent condition.

Good thing we are fairly well stocked with meat and such (still have two gals of milk in the deep freeze), prices are going to go thru the roof. I may need to consider getting really creative with rice and beans if gas prices keep going the way they are.

KiKi was upset with us in the wee hours of the morning. I'd closed up the house, including the kitty window becasue it has been getting cold. She wanted out at 3am and couldn't and she was letting us know. I was NOT going to get out of bed, so she just cried and cried until she finally realized her mean mummy and daddy weren't getting up.

Poor KiKi, so abused and picked on. We were sitting in the living room watching the telly last night when she came racing in and straight into the kitty condo. I then noticed that Angel was standing in the hallway, with his eyes on her. Angel is Nicky's brother and lives next door. He's usually a scaredy cat and won't stay around if he realizes that we are in the house. This time he didn't care, he was wanting to play with KiKi and so he stalked her. He pounced her in the condo and she went zipping out the back window. He then started wrestling with Nicky and then went zipping for the back door. I'm hoping he'll finally decide it is okay to come visit as he is a very sweet kitty (tho misnamed, he's a sweety, but definately no angel :D )
