Very eventful Tuesday morning

Image
I'm currently on Nicky kitty's shitlist. I'd taken his food and water away last night at 8 before he finally came home for the night. Then he got a bath as everywhere he was white was dark gray. When I wet him down he smelled strongly of oil. He'd been hanging out in the equipment barn. Then this morning he didn't get his breakfast and got harnessed and leashed and tossed in the car and hauled off to the vet, where he is getting edited. He is a very forgiving kitty, tho I'm not too sure about this time around. Poor thing, but with this should make him a lot less frustrated and less of a target of daddy who is brooking no competition from any of his sons for any possible lady friends. We pick hiim up after work tonight and I will see about spoiling him as rotten as possible. Finally heard back from my doc. I don't think she'd gotten the xray report yet, she didn't mention it, but she'd gotten my blood results and talked with the partner of the en

Bury Me With Soldiers

This came thru an email list I am on and had to share it: Bury Me With Soldiers (Author Unknown) I've played a lot of roles in life; I've met a lot of men, I've done a lot of things I'd like to think I wouldn't do again. And though I'm young, I'm old enough To know someday I'll die. And to think about what lies beyond, Beside whom I would lie. Perhaps it doesn't matter much; Still if I had my choice, I'd want a grave 'mongst soldiers When at last death quells my voice. I'm sick of the hypocrisy Of lectures of the wise. I'll take the man, with all the flaws, Who goes, though scared, and dies. The troops I knew were commonplace They didn't want the war; They fought because their fathers and Their fathers had before. They cursed and killed and wept...God knows They're easy to deride... But bury me with men like these; They faced the guns and died. It's funny when you think of it, The way we got alo

White Trash Test

I am 21% White Trash. I, my friend, have class. I am so not white trash. . I am more than likely Democrat, and my place is neat, and there is a good chance I may never drink wine from a box. Take the White Trash Test @ FualiDotCom

What my garden has been doing while I've been sick...

Image
My front flower bed hasn't bloomed, except for the tulips and they bloomed and went a couple weeks ago. My veggie garden isn't as bad as I thought it would be weed-wise. I managed to get out today and do a little weeding and clipping the grass around the edge of most of the big garden. Went to the doc again yesterday, scheduled appointment to get my thyroid levels checked. Wednesday night I spiked a temp of 103F. Took 2 aspirin and that brought it down some. My doc is still mystified and wants me to see an endo, thinking maybe it is the Graves refusing to behave itself even tho I've been taking my meds. She did order extra blood draws for some other tests and shipped me across the street to the hospital for a couple chest xrays, tho my lungs still sound clear, but the coughing is getting very annoying and my ribs are starting to hurt. The good news is my temp has been back to normal all day today, tho my energy levels keep tanking about every half hour or so. I ended u

"American Lie" Parody by Mark Hoolihan

This came thru via an email list I am on: "American Lie" Parody by Mark Hoolihan Sung to the tune of "American Pie" by Don Mclean A long long time ago I can still remember how government used to make me smile And I knew if bad times came to pass They'd stand up for us to the last And maybe we'd be safe then for awhile But John Ashcroft made me shiver With every judgement he delivered Bad news with a goosestep I couldn't take one more step I can't remember if I cried When I read some freedoms had to die But something touched me deep inside The day our freedoms died (Refrain) So bye-bye, Constitutional Rights Those amendments must be ended Said the government guy And the Founding Fathers watched with tears in their eyes Singing this'll be the day our dream dies This'll be the day our dream dies Did you read The Federalist Did you think it could ever be like this If John Ashcroft tells you so Do you believe in liberty

Catching up again

Image
Was a very lazy weekend, I was up and down feeling ick most of the time. Spent a lot of time on the couch. Saturday was my last day of the antibiotics and I am hoping they finally did the trick. I was feeling a lot better yesterday, I'd stopped coughing (mostly) which was a wonderful feeling. My temp has been back towards normal since yesterday, so I'm wondering if the antibiotics was keeping it boosted while it was killing off the icky bugs. Took quite a few naps and i stil feel like I need more sleep. I did manage to get a few things done this weekend. We had to go to Wally World, no choice as there were a few things we can only get there in their pharmacy area and the cat food the kitties like when we can't get the Costco brand. While there I picked up several bags of potting soil so I can get the tomato and pepper starts into pots and outside. I picked up some small laundry baskets at the dollar store and I'll poke holes in the bottom and line them with plastic and

Nice long weekend

Today is the start of my summer of 3 day weekends, at least until until July. Not sure if I'll keep on the weekends, just might and then also see about a week off at some point. I think I'm finally feeling better. Temp is down towards normal again and I've pretty much stopped coughing. Had to take Tuesday off to get some rest, slept most of the day. My appetite is still shot, but I'm finally getting some food down. I've been following the story out of Coeur d'Alene closely. CDA is only 90 miles north of where I live and something like this is too shocking for words. We've had our share of murders in North Idaho, but something like this is just so, Goddess I don't know how to put it, it just is unbeleivable. To brutally murder 3 people like that and then take the kids. I keep wanting to cry, I hope they find the kids safe and get them back to their father.

Missing children believed seen in Bonners Ferry

Missing children believed seen in Bonners Ferry By Mike Weland Law enforcement officers from around the county scrambled at about 4:07 p.m. this afternoon after receiving a report that two children missing from Wolf Lodge Bay near Coeur d'Alene may have been seen in downtown Bonners Ferry, and that a man with them, described as a 6'3" white male with scraggly brown hair, entered a downtown business and asked for directions to Libby. -snip- The children are said to riding in a dirty white or tan full-sized Chevy van with Washington license plates with the word "Shasta" on the front license frame above the license plate. Anyone who sees a van matching this description is asked to call the Boundary County Sheriffs Office, 208-267-3151, extension 21. ----- Update: Police have announced the sighting was incorrect . The boy who was spotted had long hair while Dylan has a crew cut

Monday morning catchup

Had a good visit with my mom and aunt (my aunt came in on Sat). Mom and I drove up to Spokane and had lunch at the Davenport and then wandered around the hotel for a bit to kill time before my aunt's plane got in. Sunday my aunt bought all the fixin's for grilled steak and portabello mushrooms. She rarely gets to have anything cooked on a BBQ, so she looks forward to visiting me as I love to fire up the grill. I am going to insist we finally get a gas grill, the charcol got obstenent and refused to light. I finally had to resort to lighter fluid (I usually use the coffee can and paper method for getting it to light. Usually works but yesterday it was refusing to do so), which I dislike using. Everything turned out fine once the coals got going. I've been up and down sick all weekend. I'm coughing and having some problems getting my breath. I spiked a temp of 102.9 last night, it was down considerably this morning. I haven't been coughing as much today, but I'

Happy Friday the 13th

Have to play catchup today, I wasn't up for posting yesterday. First I need to say thanks for the tag back neonate and you're welcome for the welcome :) Your tag got eaten when I deleted the %$^# spam the was posted on my tagboard and I had thought I was careful when deleting it. Now for catching up. I came into work yesterday for a couple hours and then hubby picked me up for my doctors appointment. Talked with the doc about how I was feeling and symptoms and I have her rather confused. Lungs clear, ears and sinuses clear, temp elevated (she went EWWWW when I told her I'd spiked a temp of a little over 102F the night before). I also told her hubby had to plug the electric blanket back in about 3am as I woke up freezing, which meant I was spike a very high temp and had the blanket set for as high as it would go. Took quite a while for me to stop freezing. She asked me about bladder infection. Nope, feel fine in that department. Sinus infection? Again, nope. Ticks? Hmmmm

Doctors appointment tomorrow

Yesterday afternoon I had to use my inhalor for the 2nd time in less then a week. I shouldn't be using it that often as I only have stressed induced asthma (usually triggers off when I laugh too much, Bill Cosby or Robin Williams can put my in my grave if I'm not careful hehehehe), yet when I used it it was because it felt like regular asthma. I just double checked the side effects for my beta blocker and I am seriously suspecting that is the culprit. Even this morning my breathing is feeling a bit restricted. Using my inhalor takes a bit out of me and the last 2 times I used it I was sicker then a dog. Last night I went home and laid down for a few minutes. Slept for almost 2 1/2 hours and felt feverish all night. If it is my beta blocker and my doc agrees, I'll start weaning myself off them asap. Stopping them all of a sudden is a bad thing, so it will take several days or so to get off them completely. On the plus side, the rain has stopped and we are suposed to have

Too many pills!!!!

I swear I rattle in the mornings and before bed LOL. In the mornings I take: 2 PTU (Propylthiouracil), 1 flax seed oil cap, 1 calcium cap, 1 milk thistle cap, 1 multivit, 1 antihistamine and 1 betablocker. After lunch I take another dose of PTU (2 pills) and in the evening I take 2 PTU (Propilthyiouracil), 1 flax seed oil cap, 1 calcium cap, 1 milk thistle cap and 1 betablocker. I am now adding evening primrose caps, 1 in the morning and one at night and will be increasing the dosages of that over the next few days. I will also look at incresing my dosages of milk thistle. I hate taking pills. As much as I know the PTU is going to help get the thyroid under control I really wish they'd coat it with something. The stuff is foul. You get a metallic taste in your mouth almost as soon as you swallow them. I remember someone on my support list who mentioned she was trying them in gel caps and taking them that way. I've some gel caps we'd picked up to see if we could find a way

Definately Monday morning

Got to work and realized I didn't take my morning meds and then realized I didnt' brush my teeth. Luckily I have extras of my ATDs and my antihistimines in my purse, but I'm going to be going without my beta-blocker today. My supervisor had some of those Oral-B Brush ups in her purse, so I got try one out. I'll have to invest in some for my purse. Slept well last night, except when I was waking up to throw the covers off becasue of hot flashes and then pulling them back on a few minutes later because I was freezing to death. This is getting old. I'll start the eveing primrose oil tonight to see if that helps. I won't take the black cohosh as I think it and the Graves aren't going to get along. The storm that was heading in late afternoon yesterday went around us, again. I want my thunderstorm darn it!!!!! It did finally start raining last night, so my garden got watered. Got the kitchen in shape. Didn't get the chicken and burger processed, I'll h

Weekend so far

Slept in yesterday until 11:30am and this morning until 10:30am. Weird dreams when sleeping in. This morning I decided that after detonating a small nuclear device in a volacano that it was time to wake up. I didn't want to know where THAT was going LOL. Baked brownies for the party, just some box mix ones. Good thng, I was the only one who brought a desserty item, tho there were grapes. The hostess did up a bunch of crawdads, I had a couple over hubby's objections. Does anyone know if one is allergic to saltwater shellfish, if it is the same with freshwater shellfish? I felt fine, but hubby was getting ansy, so I decided to forego eating anymore. It was a nice party, we sat around for a while and read poetry. I took a small volume of cowboy poetry and read one out of that. She had some Shel Silverstein, so I read one out of "Where the sidewalk ends". Other folk read more serious works. Taped the Nextel race yesterday, the Dodge 500. Haven't watched all of it y

Candidate for stupidest crook of the year.

Was perusing the local paper when it got delivered to the library and there was a story about a guy who robbed a local doughnut shop in the wee hours of Thurdays morning. He walked into the shop about 3 am, placed an order for doughnuts and paid with a credit card. While the clerk was filling the order, he reached over, opened the till, grabbed the cash and then hightailed it out of there. Never mind the surveillance cameras, the police station across the street, several witnesses and the fact the owner tends to mark the bills just in case (we have the occasional robbery at the gas stations at either end of town). I should also mention, his credit card reciept. Cops got his address from the credit card info and tracked him down. When they arrived, he was waiting for them outside. They arrested him for petit theft and booked him into county jail. All for less the $200.

Steve's been laid off!!!!!

This post is for fellow Bravejournal members. Apparently Steve, our community dad, has been laid off and the Journal of the Week has been cancelled. Both Steve and the JotW are vital parts of our community and having him laid off with no word to us from Bravenet is down right rude and stinks to high heaven. Kati has started a thread over on the community forums. Let your voices be heard by Bravenet that we want Steve back. I'm going to sticky this post to stay on top for as long as possible until we get answers! EDITED 5/6/05: I'm going to unsticky this, Bravenet finally came out with a note on the forum about Steve leaving, tho as far as I am concerned it was a day late and a dollar short. They also deleted Kati's thread and several other threads. Steve, if you surf thru, I'm going to miss you bunches and the whole Bravenet Journal experience is going to be tarnished for me with what went down. Good luck and all the best for you and you're kitty an

Tis Friday

YAY!!!! It's been a long week. Now I have the weekend to sleep in and relax and finish recuperating. Don't have much planned, I need to try and finsih catching up on the dishes. I've been attacking them each night for 10 minutes and then that is it. The pile is slowly dwindling. Hubby vaccumed the living room yesterday and also cleaned out the tub in the bathroom. I've been keeping up with the laundry this week, 1 load a day. Rainy today. It's been doing a bit of raining the last coupleof days. Just enough to water my garden so I didn't have to worry about it. The repair our friend did on the roof seems to have done the trick, there has been no sign of water seeping in between the front door and the screen door YAY!!!!!!!! Our neighbor will try and get our lawn mowed sometime this weekend. I'm still not up to that. He's borrowing our other neighbors mower, it's a mulching mower so the clippings will nourish the grass. I'll try and spend a litt

Finally heard back from my doc

I'd called on Monday to see if they had some results back and they said not yet and the doc would call when they were in. Had a co-worker track me down in the break room yesterday afternoon with a message my doc wanted me to call and had left a number.Said number got me a "number not in service or disconnected" message. SIGH! Checked my cell to see if she'd called that. Nope. Called the office and they said she probably reversed a couple numbers. They said they'd give her the message I'd called. She finally called YAY!!!!! I had seen the other doc in the office (hubby's doc) and she'd passed everything to my doc. Blood results, nothing growing in the cultures, white blood count down, platlet count down. Hubby's doc freaked, my doc isn't worried. PTU (the anti-thyroid med propilthiourecil, say that 3 times fast :D ) affects ones liver and drops the WBC down. My doc and I am not worried. If it drops to nil, then we worry, but it usually doesn&#

I've made mention sometime before that I love Devil Duckies, I have a glow in the dark Devil Ducky keychain, 6 Itty Bitty Devil Duckies on top of my computer and a Devil Ducky shower curtain. Yesterday when hubby picked me up he asked me to grab his wallet out fo the glove box and what do I find? I love my hubby! I saw it and started singing "Devil Ducky, you're the one.." Then hubby told me it came with its own song: Devil Ducky, you're the one. You make bathtime lots of fun. Devil Ducky, I'm awfully dirty today. (woh, woh, bee day!) Devil Ducky, when you float, It's like I'm bathing in a flaming moat! Devil Ducky, you're my very best friend, hooray! (Doo, doo, doo, dee day!) Every day when I Make my way to get clean I find a little fella who's Black and yellow and mean (Rub-a-dub-keen!) Devil Ducky, you're so swell, You guide me on the path to hell, Devil Ducky, I'm awfully dirty -- Devil Ducky, you're

1:30 something and I am still awake

and still mad enough to spit nails  Emotional issue aside of a freind being ripped away from our community without so much as a by your leave, I'm actaully starting to feel better physically. I actually managed to eat quite a bit at dinner. Hubby decided we need to hit the chinese buffet and that was jus the ticket. I had some hot and sour soup, cheese wontons, deep fried fake crab, sweet and sour chicken, an egg roll, a spring roll, some chicken with broccoli and some of the salmon. One nice thing about buffets is you can have a little bit of different things and it enough variety to tempt ones tummy. I also managed a container of yogurt this morning (in part becasue I had been on the antibiotics this weekend and I need to rebuild the good beasties in my insides) and the steak I didn't eat last night for dinner was lunch. I have developed a bit of a cough tho, not so much a producing one, but one that triggers when my throat feels ticklish and my chest is a bit tight an

Not much to write about today

Except I'm still sick, at work and I pulled a ladybug that crawled into my bra at lunch out :P

New week

Decided to come in to work today, still have a low grade temp and feel like crap, but if I had to stay home one more day I was going to go insane. I love my house, but I can't stand being cooped up that long. Haven't heard back yet on the cutlures. Hopefully sometime today. I did get out and sit in the yard next door yesterday, the weather was wonderful. Our neighbors mom has some garden space and I am going in with my neighbor and her daughter to have a little community garden. I would like to have more space for beans and she is talking about putting in a couple varieties of fast growing corn. Not sure what else I want to put in, I have a few days to figure that out. Speaking of gardens, I finally got back to mine. I did some watering and looked closely and the lettuce, spinach and peas are coming up. I do need to get in and weed. If I take it easy I can get that done over the next few evenings. The weeds aren't that big yet, except around the rhubarb and I think the rh
