Monday, blech!

Since our eye appointments were first thing this morning, I'd set the alarm for 6:30 am. And since the little snot (read: Nicky) decided to not come home last night, we didn't get too bed until almost 11pm since we'd been going to the door every 10 minutes and hollaring for him. Needless to say, 6:30 am came WAY to early!

The appointments went well. Hubby's eyes are fine, no need to change his perscription. The doc say it would be no problem if hubby got contacts and recommended someone (the opthamologist doesn't have an on site glasses place, so he wrote us our prescriptions and we can shop around for the best prices). My eyes are fine, tho I do have a change in my left lense 'script and he did a baseline for Graves eye disease. I gave permission for his office to get the records from the former opthamologist who had also taken measurements so they can be compared against my latest visit. I just realized I forgot to see about getting a perscription for reading glasses. SIGH! It is definately Monday, they dialated my eyes and it was some time past 1pm before they got back to normal. I have a headache now.

The rest of the weekend went by way too fast. We didn't go back to the one cache, we'll check some other time. Reports of folk who'd been out there that day mentioned it had gotten wet, so we may wait to see if the owner redoes it.

The theme of the brunch apparently had gotten changed and no one told me. Good thing it was next door and I hadn't packed all the stuff up. I had planned on doing mini yorkshire puddings, then discovered yesterday morning I didn't have enough milk. Actually I have more then enough, it is currently stored in the freezer and is frozen solid :P I dind't have enough powdered milk to do it with either, so I tiptoed thru the cookbook I was using and found a recipe for banana fritters and for that I had enough milk (called for 1/2 cup) AND bananas, so I whipped up a few. I let them cool a moment on a rack and then rolled them in nutmeg/cinnamon/sugar mixture. Very yummy. We took over the mini-meringues, some soda, wine, pink champagne and the fixin's for martinis. Used the pink champagne to make some punch with orange juice and soda (ginger ale) and also the smae with red wine instead of champagne, very yummy. No one wanted martinis, which we kinda figured on, the punchs were just right. Had quite a few people show up and lots of yummy food and good conversations. All in all a very nice early afternoon was had by all :)

Didn't get a whole heck of a lot done the rest of the day, I'd taped the race, so hubby and I watched that last evening. Good race, but poor Junior! I'm rooting for Jeff Gordon, but I do hate to see the other drivers not getting to complete the race. Junior's not been having much luck and then he pulled a stupid mistake and took another couple drivers out while he was at it. I really feel for Brian Vickers who Junior ran into. It much be a real bitch to be buzzing around the track, minding your own business and then have another driver have a brain fart and miscalculate and suddently you are out of the race only 12 laps in. I still don't understand all the points and strategies of racing, but I do enjoy watching these guys fly around tha track and the skill they usually show avoiding other drivers when things get tricky like that. What I also like is Junior took full blame for the crash. Didn't try and blame it on anyone else, or the track or car, is blamed himself. Don't really see that in any of the other big sports.

Finished up the soup I started on Sat. I pureed the potatos in the stock with my stick blender and then added back the chicken I took off the carcass. I portioned it out and into the freezer it went for lunches.
