Run, don't walk...

to your nearest DVD store or website and buy Firefly. This wonderful SF series by Buffy creator Josh Whedon was a shortlived series on Fox, whose suits had their heads so far up their asses they would need a window in their belly buttons to see out (hmmmmm, what is it about network execs? Chief requirements seem to be the ability to insert their heads in places left unseen and screw up great shows) and couldn't understand it so they refused to run the 2 hour pilot which introduced the charactors, instead making Josh and Co come up with an "action-packed" first episode that, while good, left a lot of folk going 'HUH!!!!" since we had no idea where these people were coming from.

Luckily the show did develop a loyal following and stuck with the show, even tho those idiots at Fox did their damnedest to keep us from watching it (prempting it for other shows, moving it all over the place, etc).

Fox cancelled Firefly and tried to keep the final unshown 3 episodes, but Josh refused to let them and got them back (standard practice is to hang on to any unaired shows so they had some filler for when they needed it) and there is now a 4 disc DVD set with ALL 14 episodes, in the order they were meant to be, along with deleted scenes, a gag reel, making ofs and Josh himself singing the theme song (good song writer, so so singer).

They are also in the process of making a feature film and have managed to re-assemble all the original cast. The movie is due out next year and will give all past, present and future fans of the show a chance to give a collective finger to those shallow minded network cretins who have no ability to know a quality show when it bit them.
